Jackie's Journey

Welcome to Jackie's Journey. This Web Page has been created by Jackie's Nana and updated by Mommy to keep all of her family and friends updated on her journey back to health. Jackie was diagnosed with ALL on February 17/2001. She is participating in study POG#9905, a 2 1/2 year chemo protocol. We appreciate all your notes and prayers to Jackie.BR>

Wow... Thank you so much for the well wishes for birthday and life in general! Life is good. So much has happened since I updated in February. Thank God Jackie's counts remain strong. This month she was a little low on iron, but her ANC is in the mid 2,000 + to 3,000+ range. At the end of May, we went on Jackie's Make-a-Wish to Give Kid's the World. And that we did!! What an amazing place! It was the exact opposite of the diagnosis just being there. Pure joy! My mom and dad went with us since they were in the daily trenches with us. It was a wonderful celebration of life for Jackie, as well as others dealing with unspeakably traumatic situations. But that week was for joy only. Soooo many unforgetable precious smiles on the faces of all who were there. Seriously, no one yelled at their kids at Give Kids the World. Everyone there, without exception, was thanking their lucky stars for such a breath of life for the week that they were there. No one at that facility sweats the small stuff. I hope we can activate organizations for our town to volunteer at Give Kids the World. It's definately a reality check seeing the joy in the hearts of the children (including my own) and families dealing with beyond comprehension in a lifetime much less a childhood stuff. Jackie and all of us had a great time. We are better people for having been there.

Thank you for caring. Please keep us in your prayers and know that our caringbridge friends are dear to us. We continue to pray for our friends who have lost their precious little family members and those who fighting the fight. Love and prayers, Dede
