Welcome to Sarah Anne's Web Page. Sarah Anne was diagnosed at the young age of 2 1/2 with Pre b cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia on May 1, 2000. She achieved complete remission on June 5, 2000 and then went through 2 1/2 years of chemotherapy treatments to prevent the leukemia cells from returning. Sarah Anne officially completed her treatment protocol (POG9605) on November 6, 2002.

Sarah Anne is now in her 7th year off treatment which, requires her to be checked only once a year to make sure she is still in remission. Sarah Anne is a cancer survivor and is living proof of God's grace and today's advancements in fighting cancer in children. Please continue to pray with us that our daughter is cured for life and for all the precious children that are just now beginning their fight!

Hello Friends,

God continues to pour out His blessing on our family. Sarah Anne is in 6th grade this year at WBMS. She is still making straight A's in school and continues to strive to do her very best in school. One of the common long term side effects of chemotherapy involves difficulty in multitasking and with complex math problems. However, she continues to show no signs of this. She is a healthy, happy, typical preteen girl. (I can't believe I just said my sweet little girl is a preteen, but it's true.)

Emma Grace is in 4th grade and this will be her last year at WES and then she will join her big sister at WBMS. These girls are growing up so fast.

Jonah started kindergarten this year and so far he too is doing well with school. He is a typical little boy and likes to "goof up" his class every now and then. It's fun to watch kids at this age begin to read and understand all the words written around them.

Kelly is working at WBMS as an Instructional Aide and she is really enjoying helping kids who might be having a difficult time in a particular subject. She is great with kids and really puts her heart into what she does.

Steven celebrated his 20th year at UAB and with his sick/vacation time only needs about 4 more years before he could retire from the state. We continue to pray that his NASA work holds up and he is able to retire and eventually serve in ministry full time.

All is going well with our children's ministry at Valley Creek Baptist Church. God continues to bring kids and their families to our church. What a blessing to see children and their parents come to know Jesus as their Lord & Savior.

We hope all is well with you. Keep praying for all those precious children that are just beginning or in the midst of their battle with childhood cancer.

God Bless,

Hicks Family
