Hi Brian! I haven't talked with your mom in awhile so thought I would stop by and say hi to you. I hope you are doing well and don't have many trips to the doctor. Are you having fun in school? Are you playing any sports yet? I think you would be really good at soccer! Have you heard any good jokes lately?

Just catching up on some websites and thought I would check on Brians. Looks like you had lots of fun in 2006. I will continue to pray for good things to come for Brian's health and that the new doctor you will be seeing will be more helpful.

Thrilled to have finally met you and an awesome instructor too! See you soon! Tell Brian, Justin says "HI".

Howdy Ya'll,

I am so bad about getting to these updates myself...every day one thing or another comes up..and you keep moving thigs from one 'to do' list to the next! But just because I don't call/write dosen't mean we are not thinking about you. It is very hard to believe how much time has gone by. It seems like just last summer we were at the hospital...(and when I sit at the table with Jake I wonder why we were there?) Tony and I often call on the bits of advice you and Jeff gave us, funny you never remember those things until you need them. It it so refreshing to hear that Brian is finally in a stable place, and that your family is finally getting a chance to breath! We are sending all of you prayers and love!

Brian - You're one tough cookie! Our little boy, Kameron has just recently been diagnosed with JMML and is just getting ready to take the fight to it like you've done. Your Mother's done a great job recording your journey - it's a big help to us.

We're from Kentucky - but I was born in Omaha and grew up in Scottsbluff, NE - so my blood is Husker Red...tell Eric that the Huskers will have their revenge in a couple of weeks!! Good luck and take care.

Hi Nikki this is Chantel Phelps, I believe that we have talked before, via the JMML support group. I saw the message that you left for the new member, and thought I'd check out your caringbridge site. Actually I think when I have a little more time, I am going to read threw more of your journal enteries, so maybe I can see what WE are up against. Our little one Trinity will be getting her second transplant in the next few months, they are still searching for a donor, the first transplant was a cord, and we'll you know how that goes. Thank you for your site.

Hi Brian,

You don't know us but our son Ryder has just finished his BMT for JMML also. He is doing well and we owe a lot to people like you and your Mom for sharing your experiences and knowledge with us while we were being treated.

The pictures of the family are great and looks like you and your brother are enjoying growing up and being 'kids'.

Oh, I also heard that you are a fan of the Denver Broncos! I think I've even seen pictures of you with some of the team! Pretty impressive - you're very well connected. I wish I could've met some of the Superbowl(s) winning team.

Be good, keep growing big and strong, and know that you have friends all over the world that want to see that big smile!

Hi Brian, thank you so much for thinking of Justin and the cards you have sent. He will be looking forward to seeing you again as soon as he can get up and walk around better. Right now he is maybe walking 20 feet on his own and not easily. See what happens Brian when you run into a tree! Tell Justin that trees are not to run into, but are just along side of the road for beauty. He is a big boy that may need some advice from a younger boy like you. ha! Hope to meet you some time.

Hi Brian,
HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY. You may not remember us but we went to golf camp (through OPS) at Indian Creek with you and your brother. We saw your name in Joey Thompsons guestbook and wanted to say "hi". Our mom has known Joey's mom and dad for a long time. How is school going? Did you get to play much golf this summer? Our dad has been taking us once in a while. We both really like golf. Our mom took us to the driving range. We go to school at Ponca Elementary. We had fun with you this summer at camp and hope that school is fun.

Brian I hope you had a wonderful birthday! 10 years old huh? WOW! You are starting to catch up with me! Sorry I'm a few days late on the birthday wishes. The kids started school here the day before you started there. Do you like your teacher? Are you in fourth grade now? Brenna is and is liking her teacher. She is going to start in a horse club here called Westernaires. She is excited to be working with horses. Kaden is getting ready to start fall baseball. Tell your mom I will e-mail her soon. Brenna's birthday is Monday and her Grammy is coming out for the weekend to celebrate with her. Well, gotta run. We are heading out to Chatfield lake to see the hot air balloons lit up at night. Your mom can probably tell you all about it.

Hi, Brian,
We knew you had a caringbridge site and had tried to access it previously, but never could. Today I tried again and used "CO" instead of Ne and here we are!!

With everything with Joey going on, we knew YOU had quite the story as well, but never really knew it all. It is encouraging to read your story and see your history in photos, too! You are a strong guy who has overcome all kinds of obstacles in life. We are glad that we have gotten to know you and your family and glad for all God has brought you through.

Thanks for watering our pots midweek for us while we were gone and for letting Nathan come over to play today before golf today. Don't know how often you check this site, but thought it would be fun to surprise you with an entry now that we were able to "find" you!

Thanks for being a good neighbor and friend to the kids.
Blessings,

Hi Brian! (..and Eric, Jeff & Niki!)

We are always pleased to receive your Mom's updates and to hear of your progress Brian. You really are a brave young guy! As is always the case, as you guys prepare for summer and baseball and swimming, we are getting out our winter blankets and our days are becoming shorter and shorter as we start our winter season.

We had a wonderful African summer with a great deal of rain. Everything is lovely and green. Carol and I have just spent a week travelling through a small part of our biggest national game park (Kruger National Park). You would really enjoy the experience of all the wild game viewing. We had one nasty experience when we were caught up between a large herd of probably 20 elephant of all shapes and sizes! They are usually not to aggressive and will leave us alone to drive by slowly but every now and then, particularly when there are young calves and young mothers, they can get very aggressive and charge your vechile. One elephant mom did just that to us. It is real scary having an elephant trumpeting and charging down on you in your car! We did manage to drive off at some speed between the others and get away. Only 500m futher along the gravel road we were stopped on a low level bridge over one of the streams to be told that we had a flat tire. So with our friends keeping guard we felt reasonably safe on the bridge from Lions and other predators, we were able to get out to change the flat.

Brian & Eric I will send your mom some photographs of the wild animals in the park. We were very lucky to see the wild dogs that are an endangered species. We saw Lion and Hyhena with a kill (Impala antelope)and a whole lot more.

Carol is a keen birder and she identified over 140 bird species. My hobby being photography complements her bird spotting so we enjoy the outings together.

Brian we are looking forward to the day you are strong enough to visit us here in South Africa. We have so much to show both you and Eric. .. and yes, your mom and dad can visit as well!

Love to you and your family

Hey Brian, I got some jokes for you!
There was a cat and a mouse who went to heaven, and they were there at the same time. Well, the mouse approaches God's throne, and God asks him, "So, how do you like it up here?"
The mouse says, "It's nice, but could I get a pair of roller skates?"
God says, "Sure."
So, the mouse gets his roller skates.
Well, the next day, the cat approaches God's throne, and the same question is directed at him. So, he answers, "It's great! I didn't know you had meals on wheels up here!"
Here's another one:
Knock Knock!
Who's there?
Moo.
Moo, who?
Well, make up your mind, are you a cow or an owl?
Later, Uncle Paul

Jordan turned 5 on January 12, 2006 so we are planning him a big party on Saturday. He is doing well, next hemoc clinic is in 6 months. Had to re schedule his make a wish for February so that I could get some much needed dental work done before we go. These past 3 years with Jordan dx with JMML and hospital stays, treatment, BMT my nerves has really done a number on my teeth. So, today I will be starting my adventure with the dentist. I have so much to smile about but the condition of my teeth I am just not able to smile, maybe in about 3 weeks I can actually smile and feel good about my smile. May the Lord bless you with a wonderful day and a very happy new year.

We are coming up on Mark's one year since leaving us..it's going to be a rough month..his birthday if Oct. 18th and he passed away October 29, but we were so happy he made it to (8) years old :)

Welcome to the heart world Brian :-) It's not a place any parent wants to see their child but atleast know that you have people who understand and have been there. Our son Aidan has been in heart failure since he was two weeks old and has struggled with high lung pressures his entire life. It sounds like Brian is a fighter who has already beaten the odds. I was so sorry to read of your latest news about Brian's condition. It certainly seems unfair, but I suspect you are all handling it better than most people are able to. Brian seems like a special little kid, and I'm sure his brother Eric is as well. They'd have to be, with a mother like you, Niki, one of the strongest young women I've ever met. And of course, I know where you got YOUR strength. Fondly, Mary Cecil

Niki, Brian, and family, Well, I re-read your update hoping that this new info was just a mistake. I still can't believe what's going on. You know more than anyone that there is hope in every situation, and that Brian is so strong. If anyone can keep the PAH at bay, Brian can! Please keep us updated, and if you have a chance explain what you've learned about PAH to us, (Shanna, like Brian, was born with pulmonary hypertension but was able to overcome it - I'm confused about what the difference with this new dx?) Anyway Brian and your entire family are in my prayers.

I know you will keep fighting.
Please keep us updated and know that we think about you and Brian.

Dear Nikki... OH MY LORD...what a change in status. Brian was so lucky for quite a spell there.. all the kids have complications from BMT, but were grateful for the process that gives them life. I still am amazed by all you have accomplished on Brian's behalf..your his advocate for sure. It's always so hard when you FINALLY find a place of rest..and peace emotionally...then BAM !!!! something sneaks in and takes it all away...been there...done that. Your a strong family..you will get through this. My Mark Jr is post BMT three years now..yeah !!! and yes..we sure have our issues.
I'm Nana..and I'm a primary care-taker for him..highly involved in his care..I understand the heart aches and the celebrations too. Nikki...take heart, your doing all that's needed and then some. I still can't believe those people unwilling to return your money under those circumstances. What goes around..comes around..they will see. I'll keep checking in on you.

Dear Nikki

I am so sorry to hear the news about Brian's heart and lungs. He has always served as an inspiration to me and my family since our son, jordan, who was diagnosed with JMML when he was 2 and September 17, 2004 will mark Jordan's 1 year anniversary since his stem cell implant. My name is Susan Villareal and my son's name is Jordan. He will be 4 in January and right now we are getting to the point where the doctor's want us to start taking him out in public, it has been almost 11 months since he has been outside in public except when we go to clinic and that is only from the car to the clinic and back. I do not even let him go outside (he goes outside on the porch) but not outside on the grass. I will add Brian and your family to our prayer list here back in arkansas. Just continue to give all your praise and glory to the Lord. Brian is such an inspiration and a fighter and he will over come this just as he did "JMML" if you need someone to talk to my number is 870-329-1799. We will be praying for Brian and all of you.

love your arkansas jmml family

susan, jeff, jordan and jarrod villareal

jordan was diagnosed with jmml on march 4, 2003 and recieved his transplant on september 17, 2003 in san antonio texas. Jordan is the first case of JMMl in arkansas and his stem cell was only a 3.2 match and right now is he the lowest percentae of a stem cell implant of JMML that doctors in San Antonio had done. We were sent to San Antonio since Arkansas Children's hosptial does not do unrelative stem cell implants. Please remember Jordan in your prayers as well.

Wow! That is a hard pill to swallow concerning the PAH. I would think that since Brian has not been showing many symptoms of this, that he is doing better than expected? Being the fighter that he is, it would not surprise me one bit! I will read up on this and let you know if I run across anything that could be helpful or of interest. You will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers,

Just found your website from a link at Jordan's page. So happy to hear that your son has beaten this terrible cancer and even though you are working through other issues, you have him with you each day. It breaks my heart that this leukemia seems so hard to cure. Our son, Joshua, has an extremely rare cancer and just had a stem cell transplant at UNMC also. I see that is your hospital also. Do you live in Nebraska, as we do? God bless and we will say some prayers for your little guy to get stronger and eat better for you.

Niki - I love your updates! They give hope even to those of us who lost the fight, it heals my heart a little to know some wonderful people beat JMML. I hope you aren't too disheartened about the feeding pump - two steps forward and one step back is still progress! I know it's stressful for all of you, but I have a feeling Brian is going to surprise you all one day and just start eating! Until then, keep up your great work.

Thank you for writing in Chiara`s page.
I miss the JMMl support group but we are having so many troubles with the Internet since we moved...the last is that because we had to change the Internet provider, for some reason I am not allowed to sign in on the JMMl support group side.
Now that the Holidays are over I hope Fred will figure out what is wrong. I miss you all and actually I would need to post.
Hope I will be able to do it soon.In the main time please tell everyone "Hi" from me .

I just read and saw pictures from Brian's website and he is absolutely beautiful. He reminds me of my son Danny. Danny loves AFV too. We have a sick sense of humor in our house. May God continue to bless you all.

Dear Brian, You are one cute little guy! My daughter has trouble eating enough too. She uses a feeding tube when she needs it. I'm going to pray that 2004 will be a year filled with blessings for you and your family. Come visit us. RachelJoy

God grant us this year a wider view,
So we see others' faults through the eyes of You;
Teach us to judge not with hasty tongue,
Neither the adult ... nor the young.

Give us patience and grace to endure
And a stronger faith so we feel secure;
And instead of remembering, help us forget
The irritations that caused us to fret.

Freely forgiving for some offense
And finding each day a rich recompense,
In offering a friendly, helping hand
And trying in all ways to understand,
That all of us whoever we are ...
Are trying to reach "an unreachable star."

For the great and small ... the good and bad,
The young and old ... the sad and glad,
Are asking today, "Is life worth living?"
And the answer is only in "loving" and "giving."

For only "Love" can make man kind
And Kindness of Heart brings Peace of Mind,
And by giving love we can start this year
To lift the clouds of hate and fear.

***Wishing all of you a happy and healthy 2004. By the way, the new picture on the front of this page looks AWESOME***

Sending lots and lots of BIG hugs your way!!!

Hello. I was very good friends with Morgan Geddings. She had cancer also... I'm not sure or not if you have heard of her, but she was a wonderful child just as yours I'm sure. Morgan was diagnosed on May 28, 2000 and became an angel on December 1, 2001. I know that it is very hard to deal with but remeber with God all things are possible and He is in control. I want you to know that I am keeping you and the rest of the battling children in my thoughts and prayers.

Please, feel free to e-mail me anytime and let me know more about you and you famuly. I will answer any questions I can about Morgan or any you may have about me. <><

Hello,
I have never signed your guestbook, but have many other JMML families. I would just like to tell you that the pictures are nice :) I was waiting to see new pictures on the site! I am glad to hear that Brian is doing so well in school. I teach Sp.Ed in high school and am very familiar with IEP's etc. Feeding issues! Ahhhh! I have a little cousin who is 5.5 with MMA (a metabolic disease) who does not each much by mouth either. He gets it almost all through gtube. He maybe eats 3 things a day by mouth. It is usually frnech fries or tatertots. Its frustrating, and he is actually starting to eat more now that he is in Kindergarten. He is at least picking the food up and putting it to his mouth. I think they key is patience :) From the age of about 17 months to 4 years, he ate almot nothing by mouth! Finally getting better. I think it sounds like Brian is doing great:) You are always in my thoughts and prayers and I often ponder JMML and MMA and AML and ALL etc, etc. and wonder why... have you ever noticed that the kids that suffer from these horrible things are the MOST awesome kids? I just try and trust in God's plan. In His Strong Love,

The mesh idea is genius! I am glad things are moving along and the insurance will hopefully be straightened out. I pray for you guys. I know it is so hard to be "living two seperate lives" but hopefully you can get Brian eating good and this will definitely all be worth it. I guess parents of sick children really spend a lot more time with their kids than the average parent and in a way that is such a blessing. It is a very strong bond there. I am glad Brian is doing well. We are supposed to go see Nemo too:)

Hi all The Daubachs ...from a cold (in our terms), dry and dusty South Africa. Gee those tornados sound really scary! I think I am happier here with our snakes and other creepy crawlies. Had a Night Adder (very poisonous) snake casually crossing the lawn just the other evening. Heard the birds going crazy as they are not fond of snakes. Carol being a keen birder, got her binocs out and almost stood on the snake. So we scooped it up into a bucket and deposited further out in the country so that it could get on with doing what snakes do best, but rather not on our lawn!
Hope Brian's feeding clinic is all going along as planned. Looking forward to the next journal update. Photos look great. Brian's hair does look a little wild but that's OK! I have a dislike for what seems to be a fashion here amongst young men, the shaven heads that remind me so much of chemo kids!
Thinking of you guys!
Love from us.

I remember growing up with Tornadoes as a kid. They are not somthing I miss at all! More power to you for dealing with those on top of everything else. I just picked up your childs link from another page. I hope that the bill gets taken care of. Inscurance companies wouldn't be so anal if some of their head honchos kids had to deal with what ours do! I am glad that they don't, I just wish that there was more understanding in those people, ya know?
Anyway, I am glad all is going well. Visit Aizees page if you want. www.caringbridge.org/ut/fti

Dear Niki, Thank you so much for your support to my family. You know how important that it is at times like these. My spirits are a little down right now because Laura just left work to take Colby back to CHP. ( they were home for about 28 hours ) I called her at work and told her that Colby was burning up ( 104.7 F ) and sweating and somewhat miserable. She called CHOP and they wanted CAT SCANS done in Pittsburgh before he is on the road for 6 hours to Philadelphia. Anyway, thanks again for your loyal support. Sending lots of prayer and love your way.

Hi Niki, Jeff, Eric and Brian
Thanks for the email reply Niki. I am wondering whether you have solved your digital camera dilemma by now! If not, I will mail you some comments as I have been researching the options for friends and schools in our area. I am a great supporter of Epson's 3.3 Mp camera and Epson's photo quality priters are excellent! If you are not going to do your own printing AND BE WARNED! It is far more expensive than having "family shots" printed commercially, then there are many options available for purchase. I can fill your guestbook with comments so will leave it at that. Will mail you some additional comments and suggestions soon.
We are at home this Christmas and are looking forward to a quiet sunny day at home. Temperatures of 30deg C + for us here in sunny South Africa in December!
To totally confuse you I suggest you have a look at the web site www.dpreview.com for very comrehensive reviews on all digital cameras.
Wishing you all a "white" and blessed Christmas.
All our love.

Hi Brian,
Saw your school photo. You're a very handsome little boy.
We hope you like school and all the neat things you get to do there. Our little doggie, Dickens, sends you lots of licks on your face and lots of tail wags. He wants us to send you his photo so you can see how cute he is. We'll do that soon.
bye for now

Hi Brian,
We're friends of Conor Ford and we saw your mommy's message on his webpage. So, we said ' We've got to check this guy Brian out' and we looked at your webpage.
We're glad you like kindergarden. You must be meeting a lot of new kids there and learning a lot of new things. Do they have pictures of dinosaurs and sharks? We've never seen a real shark but we read that you have. Wow! That must have been real exciting.
Anyway, you take good care of yourself and have a good time in school.

PS That brother of yours is a great baseball player! Say hi to him for us.

Dear Niki and Family:

I am Sarah’s husband (Lam Do), Luke’s father. Thank you for your support of Luke and our family, especially your last entry in Luke’s guest book. You were so very much correct. Luke was doing so poorly at that time and we were so emotionally in the dump... He is now much much better with the GVHD under control and we are tapering his steroid. We are just beginning to advance his fluids intake. I have learn so much from reading your web site. I am so glad to hear that Brian is doing well and that Eric is just stellar. I am so sorry to hear about your mom’s fight with multiple myeloma. It is ironic that she will also get a bone marrow transplant. We hope and pray for her success at curing the MM. Just like you, we are so thankful of our parents moving from Oklahoma here to help raise my daughter Christina, just as your parent help out with Brian and Eric. Our parents have sacrifice so much for their children. I don’t think we can ever thank them enough… We will continue to check in with Brian’s web site to see his continual progress. You and your family will always be on our mind and in our prayers.

I recently found your site, and scanned your journal entries. What a lovely family you have! Best wishes to you in your continuing journey. You are a brave soul.

My daughter, Chandler, has also been the beneficiary of "brushing therapy" -- I must admit I was skeptical when her Occupational Therapist recommended it when she was four. But after completing the five-a-day brushings (2 at home, 3 at preschool) for a few months --- she was a changed child. Her gross motor problems, behavior problems, and "smell" aversions improved greatly. Who knew? She's now six, finishing kindergarten, and you'd never know she had the behaviour problems she did. My husband was treated for AML during her fourth year --- and I think the disruption of his illness caused a lot of her behavior problems. But now we're through it.

The other day, we found one of her "brushes" in the bottom of the toy box. Jeez, you would have thought we had found "treasure" when she reached down and picked it up. She has an attachment to her brush like you would expect a child to have to a favorite "blankie". The brush has now been "enshrined" on a shelf in her room. I hope your son Brian benefits equally and sometime in the future looks with fond memories at his favorite brush.

Best wishes.

Hi Niki and family.
It has been some time since I last made a guestbook entry (Nov 2000). Brian's progress has been fantastic! It is so special to follow your "success" story. A wonderful caring family! It seems like another world you are in when we read of your holiday in Texas. The new holiday photos are great. We are a long, long way away here in South Africa and as you enter spring, we unpack jerseys and blankets as our winter approaches. Autumn leaves are very colourful!

Hello.. wow Mom, when you update, you REALLY update!!! :)
When Make A Wish came to our house (we delayed about a year
'til he was a little older/thru with the really intense chemo)
Ronnie said he wanted a motorcycle.
Then he talked to them more & they got Buzz Lightyear out of him, so thats how we ended up at Disney.
The Buzz Lightyear ride REALLY is pretty cool by the way!!!

I think the Give Kids the World village you stay at when you go there (www.gktw.org) was GREAT.
I honestly enjoyed it there more than Disney.
They couldnt have a better bunch of volunteers there... everyone friendlier/more helpful than the next.
You will love it if you go there.
I would have liked to stay there totally and forget trying to squeeze in as much as possible
for the 3 different ages of my kids (4 3/4, 8 1/2 & 12 at the time) at all the Disney attractions.
Well, glad to hear you are doing well!!!
Keep us posted!

Dear Niki, I'm Sarah, Luke Do's mom who you emailed recently. You know, I could'nt remember how I found your website. In fact, I've been trying to remember to get back to you sooner but I couldn't. I just found the paper where I wrote down your website. It could have been through dana doctor's site. Anyway thank you for your support and encouragement. I am so happy to hear that Brian's doing well. My husband just spoke to a Vietnamese couple in Denver who's daughter Cindy was just diagnosed with JMML last week. It does seem more prevalent now. I believe they are with Kaiser but may go to Denver Children's hospital. Did Brian receive the regimen that is being used now of 2 rounds of chemo with ARA-C, fludarabine, and accutane then splenectomy then l week of total body radiation with chemo then the transplant. Luke is scheduled for admit for the chemo/radiation/transplant on 2/ll. Do you have any recommendations in terms of the transplant phase. We're wondering if we should both take time off, one time off, have visitors, have more than one person to help each day in the hospital. We also wonder how to relieve the stress from the entire ordeal. We will continue to pray for Brian. Our web sites if I didn't give them to you already are www.caringbridge.com/ca/lukedo and www.saveluke.org. Keep the faith, Sarah

I am the mother of Luke who was diagnosed with JMML 9/01. He has had chemotherapy and splenectomy and has a 5/6 unrelated donor. His BMT will likely be in 3-4 weeks. It is inspiring to read about Brian's story. We pray to god that Luke will also be fortunate enough to have a good outcome. Hi Niki and Family. Niki your mail to me is still in my "in-box",almost a month after receiving it. I have often opened your web page and read parts of your journal. So many reminders of platelett counts, blood counts, transfusions etc. You guys are extremely brave and courageous! How your world has changed so much since that first dx.in Dec 96. No one can possible understand what you have been and are going through. I know what it is like to be able to share your emotions, fears and small "victories" as they happen regarding Brian's progress, by way of your journal updates.
To have to care for Eric as he is confronted with all the emotions and attention that Brian demands must be equally difficult for you. Your are indeed wonderful parents to both of your precious children.
It is over a month now that Duncan lost the fight against his cancer of the soft muscle tissue. A time of reflection and adjustment. A precious child releaved now of his suffering and pain. We pray for your family as we do for many others with similar experiences.
Duncan's Story is at www.adm.co.za/duncan

Niki,
I have kept up with Brian through your posts to PED-ONC, but I just made my first visit to your webpage.( I love the sandbox picture!) I admire you guys even more now that I have read additional details of your son's treatment and two(!) BMT's. As the Daddy of a 5 yr old survivor of a single BMT, I know some of what you have been through. Best of luck in the future. I hope to read more good news in the future as Brian enjoys the "lower altitudes" of Nebraska.

One can only be inspired by Brians strength and spirit. The grace and love displayed by your family can only lead one to believe that the Angels from Heaven are with you and have blessed your home. Lots of Love to each of you.

Hi, Niki. It's was super to hear that Brian is taking STEPS!! Wow! De and I are excited for him. Sounds like things are moving in a positive fashion. Let's try to get together soon. We are already missing Mexico and the pace of life that goes along with it. We'll show you some of the pictures we took at Dad's birthday party. De has been pushing for a scanner so we could send that sort of thing on the internet, but I haven't fallen for one yet. Do you have any recommendations? Hope you have a great Mom's Day this weekend. Love David & De

Hello Niki, You may not remember us, I met you in Omaha at UNMC. My son, Tim (20 yr.old) had a BMT and was a few doors down the hall from Brian. I was so glad to read your website. It was forwarded to me by Wil. I am awed by your strength and courage! Tim is doing good. In fact, today we are celebrating his 21st birthday. My very best to Brian and all of you. I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless.

Niki and Jeff- You are such an inspiration to us all. I am grateful for your friendship and updates on your family. My parent's are celebrating their 50th anniversary tomorrow and I know when that day comes for you, you will be in awe of what your marriage has accomplished and survived. I know you sleep with one eye open every night, but I also know God has made you angels on earth for all of us to follow your example. You are wonderful teachers! My prayers every day are not only for Brian, but they are also for you. Your friendship has blessed us all. Thank you
for being who and all you are to us.

What terrific news you have about Brian and what a wonderful way to share your happiness. Just wish I could see the photos -- for some reason my program won't open them. But there is always the refrigerator at the Sutton's house in Mexico....

A website! Brian has a website! We, as his grandparents have been able to share the awareness of his ups and downs, to be aware of the dedication Niki and Jeff have put into his care, and to be grateful for seeing a parting of the mist of uncertainty that Brian has endured. E-mail kept us appraised. Now a website allows us to also register our thanks to all the caregivers and friends who have been so needed and supportive. Bless you all!

Being the Uncle to this brave and charming child, I am impressed with the effort the parents put into both their children, Eric and Brian. I'm glad my nephew can get the support and love that he truely deserves from everyone and the rest of the family gets the kudos they deserve.
