Dear Maureen,
Fall is flying by, and it's report card time, so I'm spending the week-end grading papers and writing report cards. Knowing that Thanksgiving break is coming soon helps me plow through the work. How are things going in your classroom? Despite the fact that I always complain at report card time, I'm having a great year.
Owen is coming home for Thanksgiving. All is going well for him in medical school. He studies constantly, but that's what he expected. All three of the kids will be home for Christmas.
I think of you very often and hope you are doing well.

Dear Maureen and John, We're back from our annual trip to Fergus Falls. We went two weeks earlier than we normally do, thinking we would avoid any possibility of snow, but of course, it was cold, rainey and then there was snow! It's in the 80's here in Gold Canyon. Tomorrow, we work at the Election. Many have already voted early ballots, so we may not be too busy. We'll be watching Minnesota to see what the results show. Thinking of you and sending warm thoughts.

Dear Maureen,
I'm so happy to learn that the Retuxin is working and that the GVHD is under control. Congratulations on going back to the classroom! I marvel at your determination! I have a very lively and talented group of fifth graders this year, and I'm one of those fiftyish types John wrote about that's exhausted at the end of the day. Nonetheless, Van and I work out at the Y most evenings which revives both of us and keeps us fit enough to stay on in this very demanding profession. Geoff has gone back to Harvard and Nissa leaves to return to South Korea on Saturday. It was wonderful to see both of them again! They went to Milwaukee last week-end to spend some time with Owen, who is working very hard. Greetings to your whole family! I think of you every day!

hello to Maureen and the family (including the new addition from Russia)! while i'm still praying that someday i'll check in to find that the cancer and all of the associated problems are gone, the latest news is still encouraging. keep on doing whatever it is that you're doing!
oberlin is more or less the same as ever. i'm currently working on a math homework assignment that involves using the computer to find the numerical answers...we all know that computers can be frustrating, but it's pretty cool when i actually manage to get it to work...
by the way, does anyone know where Phoebe is? she left a message a couple weeks ago saying she was coming through Ohio...i called and left a message at your house but haven't heard from her since...
anyway, just wanted to let you know that you're in my thoughts.
much love.

hi Folks,
In reading the remarks concerning Masha - how nice she can be here for a year - the well mannered stuff - hmmm!
John, would you believe I went to a Vikings pre-season game with Eric - Titans. Game was on the low energy spectrum.
Sorry gang, its late and the wine hits the head- well, head on!
Maureen, have a good year at Field! There is a member of the Minnesota Orchestra - an old friend of Marjory's - she does some music thing at Field on a regular basis - I think her name is Pam Schaffer. Interesting lady.
Talk soon. Craig

I am glad to hear that the Retuxin has worked. I will be thinking about you in the next couple of days when you are awaiting your next test results.

My visit with tessa was nice. She and I were home sick when she called to talk to you all on the phone, we felt quite out of the loop missing all of the excitment at the trepp house.
Good luck with school, love katie

Dear Maureen,
I have been checking the journal often and was relieved to get some news, especially news that the
Retuxin is working. Bravo! You have been in my thoughts daily!
Van and I have been engrossed with back to school preparations, although somewhat frustratingly so in my case as they have been doing some construction work at my school. I finally was able to begin unpacking boxes on Saturday afternoon after they finished. Van and I will be working there again this afternoon (Sunday!) I strongly believe that they should have delayed the opening of school a day or two so that we didn't have the choice between working all week-end or having no unpacked materials to work with on the first day of school!
Van is president of the Edina teachers' union this year, so he will surely have an interesting year!
Nissa just arrived on Saturday night for a two-week visit. She has signed another contract in South Korea. Geoff is also home for a couple of weeks. What a joy to be able to spend some time with them! I wish they could have been here before I had to return to work, however! Owen has completed two weeks of medical school. He loves it, but says the amount of material to learn is beyond belief!
My heart will be with you as you return to Field. I admire your courage and determination.
Love and greetings from all of us,
Barb

Hey PRECIOUS LADY, I was sad to hear you're having some problems again with the cancer. You are in my thoughts and prayers again. The summer is going by so fast for me and we haven't touch base for awhile. I was on the computer now (in the wee hours of the morning) because I took too long a nap after coming home tired from spending the afternoon walking around the Mall of America. Our thoughts are with you, Maureen. We have been thinking of you often with the end of school this year. Actually, we think of you all the time. Lara did fantastically this year. She kept up her over A grade average while going to France for two weeks at Easter, coming back and doing Ain't Misbehavin', South's musicial this year. She was the dance captain, and had her own dance( stole the second act with her facial expressions).
She then went to San Antonio for South's annual contest trip. If it hadn't been for France, San Antonio would have been very exciting. She then went to the state contest for History Day, topic was the Mpls teacher's strike back in the early '70's. That night she went to Prom. And lastly, she directed her first play, a one-act with 15 kids in it, on May 23. Very, very busy the last two months of school.

And Dana is doing wonderfully. She received her final grades. For the entire year she received 49 As and 1 B.
And she is being active as well. Soccer, on Windom's middle-school basketball team and she just played softball with a team from Windom and King parks.

I'd better get back to work. D'Ann showed me this website. It's wonderful. Take care.

Hi Maureen,
It was great to see you at school last week, and to have the opportunity to tell you in person how thrilled I was to hear the good news about your health. I am looking forward to seeing you at the retirement party and especially looking forward to having you back next year. Maureen, Glad you are continuing to experience improved health. Your night out at the caucus is a sign that you can endure all manner of insults. Mine was less lively but interesting as well. I think many people favor the primary over the caucus because of their realization that they are as strongly opinionated and as ill informed as the neighbors you met last night. They would rather be spared the humiliation of public exposure of their uninformed conviction. Such is our species. Our evolution on the savanas of Africa, millions of years ago, undoubtedly rewarded such people with more children and so here we are in this state of affairs. At that time there was no TV, so these theatrics were the only entertainment we had ;<) Be well. Mark

Now I don't have to bother you you can read this at your discresion or not read it and I will never know.
maureen I am so impressed with your recovery, your medical journey. i am sure that it will become one of your units of st6udy for your students. Seriously I am empressed with stem cell stuff and so glad I have not had to experience any of it.
As you see I am still alive also and counting every minute a blessing. I am doing well and having still not having any serious treatments of chemotherapy
I consider my bout with myeoloma under God's supervision. He knows how afraid i was and so He must have made the MM back off.

Hi Maureen,

Sounds like things are going really well! I'm glad to hear this, I've been thinking of you here in Seoul. It's funny to be so far away and read these entries in the guest book of people I have known for such a long time. I wish we were all in touch for a different reason, but I'm glad to be able to see everyone's news. I've decided I want to go back to school and do a grad degree in Arts Administration. I'm currently looking into schools and will probably go back in fall of 2003.
I'm glad your rash is better, I have always been prone to rashes and know how awful they can be! keep up the good work building that immune system! I can't believe what medicine is capable of when I read the entries detailing your treatment.

Dear Maureen,
I was elated to read the good news in the February 26th entry. I'm glad you're doing so well!
My personal mini-challenge recently has been a broken arm, two hairline fractures as a result of a trip to Roller Garden with our fifth grade students. Van tactfully reminded me in the morning before we went that I hadn't done a lot of skating lately and that it might be smart for me to observe from the sidelines. He very kindly refrained from saying "I told you so" when I called him from urgent care after school!
At school MCA preparations are in full swing, and the students, of course, can hardly wait--for them to be over, that is. However, they're good sports about doing the practice tests and try to do their best.
Latest news from Nissa, Geoff and Owen: all's well with Nissa in South Korea; Geoff is still studying in Budapest, Hungary, and is now taking lessons and playing the cello in two orchestras as well as doing his math; Owen's still working at Children's Hospital and taking biochem in preparation for med school in the fall.
I'd like to come see you, and now that I'm not surrounded by quite so many sick students, I'd like to stop by for a visit sometime if it's okay.
Take care...

Hello, Ms. Trepp,
This is "Lisa's Dad". I spoke with your daughter, Tessa, last week at Field - she was "sub-ing" for Mr. West. As you may have heard, last week was a tough one for South House - so many teachers gone. You are certainly missed.

I wanted to let you know what a positive impression you make on your students. From my perspective, when you challenge them academically they "rise to the occasion". Lisa worked hard last year on her history projects and she flourished in the process. All the projects I saw last year, the Mpls landmarks and the "Wonders of the World" models in the media-center, they all testify to what a marvelous teacher you are.

Lisa really admires you & I do too.

Sorry we couldn't join the fund-raiser walk at MOA (we sent in a check, though). Lisa had a swim-meet that day - she's on the Blaisdell swim team with Julie Brandon and some other Field-kids.

I also wanted to mention how much I appreciate you (and the other South House teachers) for taking the kids out camping last September. What a great time that was! My image is of you on your cell phone at the end of camp-out, busily arranging you next adventure!

Best Wishes. Hope to see you in the Spring/Summer, whenever you are ready for visitors.

Sincerely, Steve Rawlins

Judy Ayers was nice enough to give me your website address and I lost it somewhere on my travels in MN. I'm so sorry to hear about your illness and know that it has to be very hard for you and your family. However, you are very blessed with so many loving and caring family and friends. Many of my most precious memories of Epworth Church included you and your family. Who could ever forget the Spring Salad Luncheons with your many jokes and the ladies (and sometimes guys, on the runway). Most unforgetable were the Epworth softball games which most of you played in. I only got to cheer but I did it with Gusto. Dean and Don Erickson are down here for a few days of golfing. Don called Judy to get me your website address again and I put it right into my computer so I wouldn't lose it. Please know that you'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Hello Maureen, Beth said you called yesterday and weren't going to be home on Wednesday evening. I went to church instead, so you helped me out. We stopped over to see my folk's first and chatted for a while. This week Andy plays in a basketball tournamnet in Moundsview and next week-end we go down to the big Rochester tournment.Today Beth went with her outdoor education class to Duluth for a day of skiing. She came home tired and happy. I'm coming along nicely with the book for book club. It should be interesting to talk about. Well, the washer is fixed and now all I have to do is get caught up on the two weeks of dirty laundry. Actually, it is not the washing but the ironing that will put me over the edge. I think of you daily. Talk to you soon. Always, Patty

Hi Maureen! I am so glad to see you have so many people supporting you. This web page is a fantastic way to keep up with you. We just got back from our 3 day environmental field trip to Audobon center. It was a great trip. The kids got to challenge themselves with a ropes course, rock climbing and initiative games. It was great to see them realize how important a positive attitude and determination are to achieving goals they weren't initially sure were possible. (somthing you could teach us all about) It was the best student trip I have had and my group was just amazing.
It is hard to believe Aaron is already a year old. He is close to walking (talk about determination) and loves to pretend to read books. Thanks to zantac he sleeps through the night. He is a fun happy boy who catches every cold possible. He still looks adorable in the shirt you made with overalls.

hi!
things here are good. lots of work and not so great food and not always enough sleep, but i guess that's all just part of the character building process.
man, this college education is really helping my grammar...oh well...that was supposed to be funny...
so, here's my question: are you going to print out all of these entries and paste them into that journal you had at the hospital?
hey, if you're spending a lot of time on the internet, you should really check out games.com. i'm a big fan of the boggle on-line!
everyone else talks about the weather, so i'll give you the rundown on this corner of ohio: there isn't enough snow, and not nearly cold enough. boo hoo. the zipper on my jacket is starting to wear out, so it's probably good that i don't need to wear it half of the time.
i'm off to dinner, and then to hopefully accomplish something along academic lines...
love to you.

Maureen,
We thought of you Saturday as almost 200 kids participated in the State Geographers' Fair. What a wonderful thing you developed, nutured and lead all these years. Jane has taken over with get zeal and enthusiasm -- you would have been proud very proud of her.

I will be posting pictures from the Fair on the MAGE website (in the next day or two). So I hope you check in to see all the festivities.

Thinking of you,

Hi, Maureen, John, et al!
I haven't written for a while but think of you often. We're finally over the hurdle of my mother's broken hip. She is back home in Arizona and doing very well. Of course, she is frustrated that she is not back to normal yet. However, she is "out and about" using a cane.
We are all well-busy as only life can be with a 15 year old and a 12 year old. Work is busy-had to go to Chicago last week for a training. It was exhausting but worthwhile.
I keep up-to-date with this location. Hang in there, Maureen. I know that you are up to this fight and will come out the winner. In the meantime, watch all of those Olympic athletes and think about all the work, frustration, and pain it took to get them there. You are fighting in the same way and are an Olympic champion in my eyes!
My thoughts and prayers are continally with you! Congrats on joining the Internet ranks! If ever I can be of assistance, don't hesitate to contact me!

Hi Maureen,

I am so inclined and will be praying most heartily!! May the guys in the white hats in your blood roust out the rest and show them the way out or Dodge.

We miss you. Teresa had her baby, a boy - Michael Doyle Fernandez. I went to see him on Friday - just a week old. Triggered some fond memories as you can imagine. Looking forward to being a Grandma one day soon, as I'm sure you are.

Enie stopped by to see us last week. It was good to see her. She seems to be very happy at her new school so that's good. MMMH is easier when they are smaller I think.

Take care,
Lynne

We are thinking and hoping for you! I think about coming over to play the piano - - but I'm concerned about being a germ carrier. I should just call - ha! We are doing fine. Hang in there. Craig and Marjory
PS: What I need to do this spring is write up a brief study guide which is compatable with the MN Grad. Standards for music (mostly elementary). I have one teacher helping me with this now. Would you like to listen to some of my stuff and make any comments? Maybe this is something you can do - since you don't have to do much moving around and stuff. Only if you really want to though. Hi Maureen. I am a "cousin in law" of Ann Hoehn. I was diagnosed with NHL in 2/2000. My flavor? Waldenstrom's Macroglobulinemia (you should only be able to pronounce it IF you need to!)

I tried to do a stem cell harvest last May (2001) but was unsuccessful from the stunned bone marrow effect of the chemo. However I remain in remission (complete) although I have been warned that remission "will not last". My sister is a 6/6 match and waiting in the wings. You know how that is, right?

Best wishes for a successful "take", diminishing GVHD and a new immune system that serves you well for years to come!

I am back from january in the tropics. It was great to be back in the land of the free. We went to study multiculturialism and got an eyeful. separate but unequal is the watch word in Malaysia. Singapore is integrated but a very fast paced culture. Great opportunities for American teachers.

As laura told you we are looking forward to a great fair. The entire Africa team is expected to come and work. We We will see how many show up. THe afternoon will be the last Keen presentation and then a simulation on economic development that one of the teachers uses. I will hand out my power point on post apartheid urban planning. Do you have a copy of that? If not I will send one to you.

Post concert greetings...I'm kind of normal again. The kids sang well and received many compliments. This final year of mine is just flying by. I'm taking 45 concert choir kids to Chicago on May 10, 11, and 12...Alison and Mike b. are going with us...thank God.

You and your family have done a remarkable job of explaining your procedure and recovery protocal. Its kind of like taking a mini- course...can I get CE credits ?

I hope this finds you having a "good" day. I'm sure that word must be fairly loaded.

I'm singing ar an annointing of a man who is fighting cancer. He is having some risky medical procedure to help him fight. We Catholics have a ritual for just about everything. This is an actual laying on of hands by the priest and family and friends. I'm just a singer as I don't know the fellow. But its seems to be a very comforting experience for all.

Band concert tomorrow....you can imagine how much the teachers love Kim and I right about Now! ha ha.

many blessings to you Maureen...

Hi, Maureen, I miss visiting you at the U but am so glad you are home!!! Shane is taking the CPA review course--a 2 1/2 hour class Tuesday evening and Saturday morning. He is taking it very seriously and studying hard--he is certainly full of pleasant surprises.

Shane and I went to Black Hawk Down last night. I read the book a couple of years ago so was able to follow along. It's a very good movie and your boy did a good job. I don't think it portrays the Somalians in a bad light. It's just a poor, desperate country and the people are exploited by evil and greed.

Can you go for a walk sometime? Let me know. It's supposed to be beautiful out this weekend.

You're still in my prayers. Best wishes, Margaret

I just found out the news from my mom and wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and praying for you. I was glad to read on your website that you are still a teacher, as you were one of the teachers that made the strongest impression on me. I too am now teaching (!). Dear Maureen--
Here's another postage stamp for your scrapbook. I am writing from Taipei, where it is quite chilly (about 50 F.) and drizzling--a big change from Bangkok. I have just returned from the National Palace Musuem, which houses the imperial collections that Chiang Kai-Shek took with him when he fled the Mainland in 1947. By repute, it is the greatest collection of Chinese art in the world, which I can well believe. To my surprise, I am fascinated by calligraphy--the brush strokes are amazingly expressive. Not reading Chinese does not diminish the impact--in fact, the calligraphers take such liberties with the ideograms that I'm told most Chinese cannot read the more expressive styles of calligraphy (just as we cannot make out all the gothic lettering of medieval manuscripts). Incidentally, the oldest original manuscripts in the collection go back to the T'ang dynasty (about 600 to 960 AD).
So much for art appreciation....I hope things are progressing for the best, and that you are reasonably comfortable. I will get back to the US all too soon (Jan. 30). Love to all!!

Dear Maureen, It was a workshop day at school today. They always seem a little bit longer than the regular days. We had instructors talking about how we can help with the basic reading tests in the morning sessions. In the afternoon, I went to a workshop for the "E" team...the emergency team at the high school. I think they included me because I use to teach health education. The instructor was a girl that I had at Simley and I think I taught her CPR in the first place. Weird! Talk to you later. Hi Maureen,
This is Craig. We hope you are doing well - looks like it according to the journal.
I'll come by and play some stuff for you soon. Sunday I play the Rhapsody in Blue with the Fridley City Band. Note that it is totally direct conflict with the Packers- Rams game (the one when Favre goes home); so folks will be making a fateful decision, to attend or watch the blowout (actually I've become kindof a closet Packers fan - probably because of all the times I drive through Wisconsin and hang out in the U.P., center of culture in the Midwest.)

Dear Maureen--
I am now in Luang Prabang (Laos), a place that is truly magical. The ancient capitol of this [former] kingdom, the town is on a finger of land barely 1/2 mile wide betwen the Mekong River and one of its tributaries. [I hope this is in the 'geography bee' mentioned in one of the earlier entries.] There are only about 16,000 people, and the town consists almost entirely of lovely old Lao teak houses, French colonial stucco houses from the 20's & 30's, and Buddhist temples. The vegetation is lush & tropical but we're at an altitude of about 3000 feet so the climate, at least during the winter, is mild (about 70'F. as I write this note at 1:30 in the afternoon). There are, I suppose, three cars in town. Rush hour is when school gets out! As in most places of SE Asia, the people are wonderful.
Now, none of this has to do about your illness, but I suspect you hear plenty about that already. Suffice it to say that even in Laos, I'm thinking of you and wishing you the best!

Dear Maureen,

Praise the Lord that you are home and recovering. We will pray that your recovery will
be total and complete.

A prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank you that you are in charge and able to bring 100% healing
now to Maureen's body, and so I ask that you would cause every trace of Leukemia to vanish
from her body forever and let her recover 100% from the disease of Leukemia that has troubled
her. I pray that the Docter's would no longer be able to find any trace of Leukemia in her
body, and that you would be glorified in Maureen's life. Keep her safe from any other diseases,
and give perfect health in her entire being. Thank you Jesus our Lord and saviour, and we trust
you that you can and will do it. Amen

Bless you Maureen, and all your loved ones. Say hi to John and the rest who remember me.

Our family is doing fine. Irene and our four kids Miriam, Markus, Jonathan and Jasmin are
doing great. We'll stay in touch and let you know more later.

Hi, Maureen!
I assume you'll be checking your guestbook from home--a much better place than a hospital room, thank goodness. Quite a aurprise to see how the projected course of your treatment has evolved, but it seems the changes have generally brightened the picture. As the old song goes, keep your sunny side up!
I am writing this from my hotel on Suriwong Road, Bangkok, Thailand. I haven't studied the guestbook enough to be sure this gives me the long distance record. Hey, by jet, I'm only about 20 hours away from Minneapolis!

It is sunny with blue skies here, a beautiful day to be outside. When I was running today I saw a professor of mine, who last year at this time was battling prostate cancer, running along at a pace much faster than mine. I thought of you. It's wonderful to read about your positive recuperation. I know it's a long road to recovery. You can make it, BECAUSE you have enthusiasm. Enthusiasm is a Greek word that means God within us. Also, I know you feel the love and caring that your family and friends have for you. Keep the faith, keep your enthusiasm.

I enjoy reading the guestbook too! It's a link to MY past life. It's WONDERFUL NOT to have to get up at 5:30 a.m. UNLESS I WANT TO!!!

Dear Maureen, Sorry I couldn't stay around long enough last night to talk to you from Book Club but I had to leave early....now that's a big surprise! We had a good time but missed you alot. You always bring us around to discuss the book...I think that's the teacher in you. Bonnie was wondering about my jello salad. I wonder how she thought of that? I 'll have you know I cut up some tasty fruit slices. Both the kids are gone doing various things. All they need is for me to drive them here or there. No one was using the computer so I thought I'd drop you a line. Did you watch the Gopher game last night? I listened to the last five minutes driving home. That was pretty exciting. Don't forget to "power walk". I'll call tomorrow. Your friend, Patty

Hello Maureen,

I finally got the address for your website - yes I know you gave it to us at the staff meeting, but do you think I can find where I wrote it down? Anyhow, this website is terrific. I did not know such a service existed. Your journal entries are wonderful - thanks to whoever is keeping it updated. Just the right amount of medical and scientific information tempered with a dash of humor.

I think of you often and keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Cannot imagine what all of this must be like, but I know surely you are the bravest person I can think of.

Geography Bee is being done by Dave tomorrow, so you know your shoes have been hard to fill. Think of the children at 8 AM. Laura will probably take the prize, but oh well.

My sister had a kidney/pancreas transplant a few years ago, and I spent weeks on the transplant floor at Fairview University. I was amazed by the dedication, knowledge and caring of the staff, especially a nurse named Becky. I am sure if Robin's experience was any indication, you are in good hands.

God Bless You,
Lynne

Hey, Maureen and John!
Such wonderful news about your progress! I am convinced that you are going to beat this and come out stronger. I've been meaning to get online to you for several days but have been a bit preoccupied. My parents have been in Australia and on the day they were leaving, my mother fell and broke her hip. I got the call on Saturday. She had hip replacement surgery and is now doing well. Trying to deal with this problem halfway around the world has been frustrating. (Maureen, you are the geographer. Is Sydney halfway around the world? They are ahead of us 17 hours! We now have a clock set to Sydney time at home so we don't call her in the middle of the night!)

Now I am able to focus on other things and you were at the top of my list!!! I am so impressed by your courage, humor, positive attitude. These qualities are no surprise. I always saw them in you. You are wonderful and have such great loving friends and family. I add my prayers and good thoughts to all that are already out there.

Maureen, I look each day to find joy in my life. Some days it is the wonder of a beautiful sunset, my children's confidences, a friend's caring touch! You are surrounded by joy in the outpouring of love for you. Take your strength from us! We are here for you! With love,

Good morning Maureen, I hope to stop by today if you are up to it. Thanks for the advice on the blueberry french toast, it turned out just fine. We went to a play at the Park Squeare Theater last night to see "Side Show", based on a true story of identical twins that were joined at the hip who went from a carnival freak show to being international stars on Broadway. You should have seen them dance!!
It was a musical and the whole cast was quite talented. I'll be over to get your thoughts for book club. Hugs, Bonnie

Maureen,
Yeh-rah, glad you are doing well. Keep it up. There is a old wise tale that says that one way to produce more healthy red blood cells is to hold up your right hand, blink your left eye, wingle your right foot toes, scratch under your nose with the index finger on your left hand, all while singing "Old McDonald Had a Farm." :) The Bible says that laughter is good medicine so I hope this got at least a smile. I'm glad to hear that all is going so well. All those prayers and good wishes do help. I will talk to you soon. Today was a great day back at school. We have just lodgged into your website as we have been out of e-contact in Dorset for most of the past week, and did not realise quite what a detailed report we could get. It is thrilling to see the positive report today and we do hope and pray that the good progress continues. We had a quiet (apart from snuffles and sneezes) but very enjoyable Christmas with the girls coming back from their respective flats / houses they are sharing with friends. We went up to see Jenny's father and his wife Joan in Cambridge on Boxing Day. New Year's eve was spent with friends Scottish Dancing in Dulwich Village Hall and then we went down to Dorset for a few days. It was very lovely if rather cold down there (though absolutely nothing to your Minnesota winter) There was a little remaining snow which was very pretty, but it had all melted by the end of the week.

It is now back to work for us all after the Christmas break. We do hope all continues to go well.

With love and best wishes to you all for 2002

Maureen,

Doris just emailed me that you are going through treatment, and how to "connect" with you via your website. I have been thinking of you often this year, as your teaching skills come to mind while I work with teachers at Nellie Stone Johnson in my new position as "Reading and Math Support." (Hey, the district has officially adopted SRA Direct Instruction for Kdg. and 1st grade intervention curriculum! See, YOU knew all along it's benefits!)
I will hold you in my daily prayers as you go through this yucky procedure, and keep checking your site.
I think the journal entry suggesting that you do Daily Oral Georgraphy with the nursing staff (add the doctors into the class also), is a great idea...no one else would be better at it than you :)

With Love and Prayers,

Paula

You are an amazing person. With all the positive and loving thoughts going your way, you have the healing hands of God on you. (Health and healing are as close as good and God, in their theory and their spelling.) I pray for you many times a day. I just came home from ten days in Harlingen, Texas where I spent Christmas and New Year's with my twin sister and her family. It was wonderful. I'm so happy to read about the precious time you had with your family too! Keep the faith.

Maureen; We are having a fun trip to Montana. We skied 3 days this week and had good weather and excellent snow conditions. Sara's sister Lisa and her family are wonderful skiers so it made everything easier...and more fun. Rachel and Anna hadn't skied before but really improved.
For some reason news of the Big Sky Trepp wedding hasn't reached the Flathead Valley yet...
Tomorrow we are back on AMTRAK for 22 hours with an arrival in St. Paul early Saturday. The trip out was interesting but the food was B-A-D... See you soon. Love, Luke, Sara, Rachel and Anna

Hope you envisioned someone exciting that visited you too. Speaking of wisdom teeth, I forgot to tell you when I was down on Sun., that Sarah had her wisdom teeth out on New Year's Eve Day -- so we stayed home to be with her. Happy New Year!
Cortlandt and I rang in the new year babysitting MC's son Alex. He was a quiet little angel, eating chex mix and sitting on my lap. He never said a word. Noah, on the otherhand, struggled with his visitor. He did not want to share toys, snacks, books, or his mommy. He had a fit every few minutes. It is not a good sign for the baby. Noah and Alex did fall asleep within seconds of each other, both with their favorite blanket snuggled close by. It was a kodak moment, but I was afraid the flash would wake them up. They snored side by side for awhile, then I put them to bed around 11. They missed the party hats and champagne.
Thinking of you,

Shelly Drake

Sorry I didn't make it up yesterday but I'm bet you still had plenty of visitors. My guess is that you're one of the most popular people on the floor. We saw Henry"s HS team take it to the ever hated Cretin last night. It was tied at the half but then they blew them away. Quite an electric crowd!

Maureen, I'm waiting for the kids to get out of the shower and we will head over to my folk's house and then on to church. I thought I would jot you off a note... We had "big doings" last night. Ray and the kids went out and bought a DVD. They set it up and we watched a few movies. I think the favorite was PAINT YOUR WAGON (good tunes!). The only problem now is that they want a new TV to show off the movies better. I'm still correcting papers but I have two more days to finish them. See you later with more thrilling information. Maureen - Just found your website. Pretty amazing technology. Speaking of which, we found old videos here today that we watched with Chris and Sarah. Prominently featured were your three kids. Tessa was shown helping out at birthday party, directing kids around and helping with all the younger ones. Ethan and Phoebe were among the "guests" being served healthy hot dogs, chips and sugar laden soft drinks. We also found some old video of a marathon party. It was the one where the balloons got strung across the roadway. There was a large high vehicle coming through, unfortunately the tape did not continue long enough to show whether or not the truck took out the balloons. Blame it on old age, but I don't remember whether or not the truck wiped out the classy balloon bridge artfully strung across the road. There was also one of you and I at a block party as partners in the water balloon toss contest. We were beaten by most of the kids and you (caused by me) got soaked from a misdirected water balloon. Looking back at the garb being worn, I did not know that they made shorts that short, or that glasses came that big. Just wanted you to know that we are thinking about you a lot!

The Hoffs.

Thank You for the great gift. One of my friends has one just like it but she wears hers as a dress. That might go alittle far for me. It was wild at my house this morning. My father and I have this thing of hidding the seven dwarfs and last night I found them in my bed. So I stayed up late last night and hid them all around the house. One was wearing his glasses. Doc went through his wallet and stoll his credit card. Two were hidding in his bathroom with his toothbrush and razer. Another was on the computer and the final was reading his cook book. We take very little to keep us busy. I just wanted to say thanks for the gift.

Maureen,
I meant to call you Christmas Day but you know how time gets away from you. Thought about you all day Wednesday but decided to wait until you are more settled in - if that is possible. I don't have to tell you in words how I feel about you - you know. You are a gutsy, strong person but it's okay to be frightened and scared. Know that you are not alone in this. You have family and friends who love you and are believing that there will be a positive outcome. My cold is almost gone - maybe by the end of the week I can come visit.

Hi Maureen,
I hope all is going well, and that you are getting rest and relaxation and not just being poked and prodded!
I met JoAnn at the museum and she told me about this webpage. We will miss you at GeoFair but you will be with us in spirit, I am sure.
Take care of yourself and wishing you good health in the new year.

Maureen,
I had the great pleasure of knowing both Ethan and Phoebe through ASP. I wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Though I have never met you, I can only guess from your kids that you family is one full of love and strength. Good luck and be well.

Dear Mrs. Trepp,
All summer I told people "I just want to be a Trepp" due to my appearance in many ASP photos with your amazing son and amazing daughter. I want you to know that I'm now praying for you like I would for my own mom. I've gotten to witness the strength of two of your kids, and I'm sure you are where they get that from. I'm wishing for you to continue to have and rely on that strength.
Thoughts and prayers,

Maureen,
Katy and I met yesterday to plan out social studies. It was a bit like the blind leading the blind since neither of us is such just how far in history me must get. We guessed that the Civil War was probably the minimum. We are going to start the American Revolution when we return. Neither of us is up to the challenge of a History Day project. We are not touching it. We decided to keep things simple as Katy makes the transistion and I am on leave. Lauren Carter babysat Noah while Katy and I met. Noah had a great time and I hope Lauren did too. Today my mom is coming down and taking Noah and I out for lunch. She thinks it is best that he see her here at the house before she shows up while I am in the hospital. I have decided that if the baby is not going to make the 2001 tax deduction it might as well wait out the entire 9 months. Later today I hope to prime the baby's room then I will paint it "Baby Chick" yellow. Stay strong and positive.
Love,
Shelly
