Saturday, May 2, 2009 7:43 AM CDT Hello,
Here we go again another year gone by. It is 7 years ago today. It seems so long ago and yet at times it feels like yesteday. When I look back on the photos, that is when I really see how long ago it was. Gabe and Ellie especially. They were so young.
Gabe graduated from High School last spring. He will be a father in July. I was really shocked to say the least, but he seems happy and loves his girlfriend Brie. They are way too young, but weren't most of us? lol. I have accepted being a grandmother and am planning on loving that little guy(its a boy) like crazy. It is funny to look back to when I first became a parent and to think about all the things I would have done differently if I knew then what I know now. It is true "Youth is wasted on the Young". It will be a new chapter in our lives.
Ellie is a junior in highschool, still in poms (They took 1st and 2nd in state this year!), and a great student. She is becoming a woman and thinks she has it all figured out. I am excited for her and hope she makes good decisions for her life.
Quin is in 5th grade and went to Middle School step-up day Friday. He seems too little to be in Junior High! He is an amazing boy, so thoughtful and tenderhearted to everyone. He is in accellerated math this year and doing very well. It is awesome having a child that doesn't struggle in math!
Kellan is in 4th grade going on highschool. She is starting with the puberty and is an amazing little girl. She has so much insight and is also gifted in school. How lucky could I be! She does well at everything she does and isn't afraid of anything.
John is still cooking and bartending.
As for me, I am still in the nursing program (one semester left), and working at Good Sam in ICU. Its hard to believe I have been at Good Sam for 5 years now. I love that place and it constantly remnds why I want to be a nurse.
In the seven years since Eion left us, it has continued to be a struggle with the grief. This time of year is especially hard and I just hold on till the storm softens and becomes more tolerable. The pain will always be there, I have just learned to live with it. When others join us in rembering Eion, that is very meaningful to us. The thought of his presence not meaning anything is sad. Isn't that what we all want from life, to have meant something in this world?
Thanks to all that remember him...
