Michael's Courageous Battle Against LeukemiaMy 27-year old brother was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia on March 21, 2000. He underwent clinical protocol treatment at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was put into remission in April 2000; however, he relapsed on Sept. 23, 2000. He was put into remission again on Oct. 17, 2000; but again relapsed on Nov. 9, 2000. On Dec. 6, 2000, he received a Stem Cell Transplant from an unrelated donor. He relapsed once again in April 2001. In a final attempt, Mike underwent a Donor Luekocyte Infusion (DLI) from his original donor on June 6, 2001. Michael passed away and became an Angel to us all on July 16, 2001. He is terribly missed but our memories of Mike's love and laughter will live on and will be forever cherished in our hearts.....until we meet again. With love, Vicki

Saturday, November 1, 2008 Red, white and gold balloons were floating around Angel Stadium on Saturday, September 20 celebrating a decade of Light the Night Walks. An estimated 5500 people joined together to raise $710,000 to help find a cure for blood cancers.
Mike Hunter’s Team was proud to participate for the 9th year. Our team consisted of 51 walkers ranging from Mike’s 88 year old grandfather, who has never missed a walk, to newcomer 11 month old Wayne Warden. It was an evening filled with entertainment, good food and great friends. Thank you all for continuing to walk and for honoring Mike’s memory. Thank you for your dedicated fundraising that enabled our team to raise $6211 this year.
Our teams continued to sell our blue team t-shirts with all the proceeds going to Light the Night and to the Michael A. Hunter Memorial Scholarship Fund for Leukemia survivors. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is an outstanding organization committed to finding a cure for blood cancers. But they need partners like Mike Hunter’s Teams to accomplish this goal and beat these dreaded diseases. As you know, Mike Hunter’s Team is a National Friends and Family Team. We are expecting our teams’ combined efforts to exceed $143,000 in fundraising over the past nine years.
Thanks to wonderful, thoughtful friends like you, Mike Hunter’s Teams are so successful. Thank you again for your continued support. See you in 2009 for our 10th Light the Night Walk.
Love to All, Barbara Captain of Mike Hunter’s Team
