hi guys
boy getting a port out is a big thing i guess im lucky ikika got blood clots from his that almost took his life so when they said they were getting it out we were all so over joyed no one was sad for a minute but i never thought. i bet it would be hard for her its like a security thing like losing a leg or arm.maybe if you said she could go pick out a new doll or bear to trade for it?is there anything she really has her eye on? just a thought it is so hard some of the things we face dont make any kind of sense or have any options for us. i wish we were normal again and i dident even know what a port was!!!sending big hugs your way!

Actully, my hair is coming in so nice, that it just looks like a really short haircut! So having trouble with the port issue, huh Cheri? I couldn't wait to get mine out! That thing hurt so much! I really don't have any advise for you, but I will be praying for you! I hope you have a great weekend! I'll talk to you soon! Love Deirdre

Hi there Cheri n Katie,
just popped in to say hello, I am so glad the port is getting taken out, but I do feel for Katie, to her it must seem like a part of her body is getting taken away, Bless her! I suppose the good thing is, that in years to come, she will so not believe she wanted to keep it, let alone remember it. I guess you just gotta, if she does do the temper thingy, remember it is part of the victory.
Good luck and God bless you and your family

Hello Cheri and Katie, I just found your web site from Janice's and happy that I did! I praise God for the clear scans...that's wonderful news!! YIPEE! I am a woman who was diagoned with breast cancer in Mar, had 6 rounds of chemo, 6 operations, and started 8 wks of radiation. So I know full well about the nerves going to a dr's appt for a scan. So far everything looks clear for me as well. I have to tell you, I love Blues Clues, I think that he is sooo cute! That's kind of funny considering, I'm 36 yrs old:~ You have very good taste honey. I have a list of children that I pray for, and will add you to my list. I will also check up on you very soon! May God bless you and wrap in His loving arms. Cheri, you had me laughing and crying at the same time! You are hysterical with your stories! What a beautiful poem you wrote...only told from a mother's kind of love. Absolutely beautiful!!! Please come by and visit me, I would love to hear from you. Your new friend, Deirdre

Clear scans, what great news!!!! What an amazing girl you are Katie. I know Sams chemo & cancer are not the same as yours but I thought I'd tell you he too was too small for radiation. The oncologist said he should really have had it but they would see what happened if they delayed it. Lets hope the news of yet more kids not having radiation & not relapsing means they are getting closer to a cure!!
Take care

Thanks for the post in our guestbook Cheri, we are now awaiting the results and of course since the head of the dept took a position at another hospital the new one seems not to understand our anxious nerves and figured we could wait for it to be a more convenient time for him, so we get to sleep on those nerves. Yeaow! right. Cameron had a very loopy day after the sedation and got a lot of bumps and sure was a grouch. We are thinking and praying for Katelynn's scan to once again come back clear. I will post to the web page as soon as I hear.

Hi Cheri,
I have a confession but you have to PROMISE not to laugh... PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE!!! Okay, seeing that you made Katie's background Blues Clues again...it just reminded me of how much I used to love Blues Clues..and I'm saying "use to" in reference to only a couple of years ago I used to watch ALL the time...and a couple of years ago, I was like 20!!!!!!!!! I LOVED the show so much... and I loved Blue and I loved Steve and I loved all the cute lil animals in it...and I even know all the songs.. and for my 20th birthday, my best friend gave me a huge Blue soft toy as a birthday present!!! You would think I was turning 2 not 20! Anyway, that was my confession..I think Blues Clues is the cutest kids show around :) And I'm glad Katie loves it...we have great taste!

Hey Katelynn, how are you doing? I hope you all are enjoying your summer! Did I ever tell you we found some bunnies in our backyard recently. Actually, our dog did (we used to have a Rottweiler but this one is a cocker spaniel - big difference - when you trip over this dog it moves, unlike the rottweiler who would lay there while YOU fell!)- anyway the kids were in the pool and she was barking like crazy under the pool deck. Finally when we checked there was a bunny nest with a baby bunny in it. Then after more looking through it we found 2 more. So since I have 3 kids and there was 3 bunnies, they each named one. We left lettuce and water and carrots out there but it was never touched so we dont think the mom came back. About 2 days later we took them in to feed them and we had them a week, feeding them kitten milk from a kitten bottle or dropper. They were SO cute! They called them Jean, Robin and Nibbles. My son Gooch called his Jean, named after Jean Smart in XMen. They opened their eyes while we had them and by the end of the week we had them they were running all over, more running than hopping. My husband was convinced they were going to grow up and bite our fingers off, so we turned them over to a Childrens Museum that is a wildlife rehab center near us. I hope they are being taken care of, if they werent already released. I know the kids loved them and they really were cute!! That was our thrill for the summer – hope you are enjoying yours!

Girl..you and I are sooooo alike, no kidding, we could be sisters!
I have camped once in my life and that was one time too many for me...give me an air conditioned hotel room with room service and a pool and I will stay in peaceful bliss forever...oh, and make sure that hotel room is within shopping mall limits and I am in true heaven!
Glad to hear that Katie had such a good time though..but I am not too glad to hear that thre was nobody who could carry you when you pooped out..:0)
Take care and we'll be back soon..
Love, Kim and Kody
PS. I have always found the Cheez Wiz in the spagetti sauce aisle....where they keep the sprinkly grated cheese stuff. Weird, I know..but that's where you'll find it.
Cheez Wiz, salsa and tortilla chips...YUM!!!

Hey Cheri & Katie,
Hey you guys! How's camping??? Can't wait for you to get back and update us all! I hope sweet lil Katie is feeling fine (darn that cold!)...and I am praying for the fires to be under control. We have lots of them too here in summer...and I always see how devastating it gets to so many families. I am praying for all of you there in Canada! Okay so get back safely and update, Cheri!! I am in need of a little dose of Cheri's humour :) Love you guys!

Hey, stay away from the dry forests, it is very volatile now, and hot, man I think I brought Texas weather home with me, but today and yesterday it has been so pleasant, low 70's. This I like. So glad Katie is doing well. I know you are very happy that she is out of treatment and the doctors feel she has beaten this beast. Now Cammie is heading for the same goal. I will continue to follow your journal. She is such a sweetie. Take care and tell Felica I will visit her pages again soon. Have fun camping, outdoors away from the hot dry forests. Be careful.

Hey Cheri,
There you go again making me laugh!!!! Couldn't stop! I think I started laughing real hard somewhere around grabbing your computer tower incase of a fire...and then there was the visit to Walmart during camping comment... I'm still laughing!! You are a riot! ANYWAY, I just wanted to come and say hi..I am so glad you have the week off and you're able to spend quality time with the girls! I hope you guys have a great and safe time camping...as for me, I am yet to experience a real camping trip :) I WILL!! One day. Now, for the confusion in time difference...don't worry, the first 3 months of discovering Caringbridge and making so many friends from America, I got so confused and gave up trying to figure it out for awhile...but then I kinda just figured it out after so many rounds of guestbook signings...okay so I'm gonna try and explain it to you...just think of it this way...if you are having breakfast on a nice lazy Sunday morning, I will be getting ready to bed on a Sunday night...got it? So basically, as you are starting a new day, I am at the end of that day! Wellllllllllll, maybe you guys can just make a trip down here to the Land Down Under and you will see it for yourself!!! Hehe. I would love to meet you guys some day! It would be really cool...in the mean time, always remember that you have a friend in Australia :)

Hello beautiful, sweet Katelyn,
I hope the chicken pox just overlooks you. I know some cases can be very ugly. Snow in May ..hmmmm that is interesting. I was just thinking about the weather here in Tennessee, it wont quit raining or at least fooling us to think it is going to rain. Maybe the snow and rain will go away for while and the sun will come out. I hope you are feeling well! Have a happy week!!

Hoping for the by pass of the chicken pox. Glad Katie is doing well. Thank you for the prayers and signing our guestbook. Today was Cameron's first day of pre school. He had a good time but did not want to sit still at circle time or quiet time. He will learn quickly by watching the other children. He is so cute. Katie is a cutie too and her sister. Snow, in May. Oh my, what is happening to our weather. We are waiting for spring here. The flowers did their thing but it is still so cold at the baseball fields. Keeping the mosquitos at a minimun tho.

Hi! Thanks for visiting and signing our guestbook. What a frustrating thing to be going through. We will stay posted to find out more. I love the poem...every scan we hold our breath and after reading your entry, my stomach feels funny. My son, Zac was diagnosed in May also. He has palsy in his 6th cranial nerve from pressure from the tumor. With therapy, though he was able to speak better and when he finishes treatment we will worry about his eye. Good Luck! We will keep you in our prayers.

Oh! MY GOSH! Boil over does not even come close does it? I can't imagine how that could not have been mentioned. And with all of their confusion, how can you be expected to trust them now. I am bewildered beyond words, so what else can I say, you must be, be, be.... the words elude me. I want you to know that I care. I pray. You have a lot of support, but with things like this going on, you can never have too much. Count on me.

OH! I just read my last post and am thinking I have been out of school a *tad* bit too long since my spelling is awful, I would say use a bigger word but can't remember how to spell it. I think I remember what the bigger words mean but how on earth did I ever spell them. Someone bring me a dictionary. Since you still have not heard from Vancouver I am positive by now you should be beyond boiling point, both in celcius and centragrade. And yet again I am wondering about my spelling skills here, such trivia eh? Keep us posted and Happy Birthday Felicia and stay healthy Katie.

WELL! I would be fuming too!!!! It is a good thing me and you don't go to the same clinic. Anyway, I tend to agree about if it was cancerous, it would go quicker but as far as all the crap about left and right and tad and tiff! Whatever. I hate when they use words that aren't words. I can do that but not them. Doctors have to be precise, down to the note! I like to leave KNOWING what is going on not with a bunch of question marks floating in my head. Most of the times when I leave, I am thinking to myself, "Why do I come here, I could have done that or said that!" Counts go high but nobody knows why. Things drop low but it is okay to go. Rashes, bumps and bruises are fine too. Then I look back to before she was diagnosed. Rashes, bruises and messed up counts. Doctors say those are all the sure signs of Leukemia but now it's not. I guess I should read the "memos" more often that come around and change all the rules. When I go in with Katia I feel like they think I am overprotective! They don't hear her screaming to poop or see rashes just pop up on her face in 15 minutes or bruises appearing all over like connect the dots! To them they see a chubby little pink kid with a lot of hair so she must be doing GREAT! Anyway, I am supposed to comfort you not babble on about how pissed I get but all I can say is be persistant and ask all the questions you can think of. Love, Tracy

Well I think you are to be commended for not haveing a complete boil over. I would have steamed up the whole clinic. This is un nerving to say the least. I too feel they would not be so comtemplasent if they felt it were related to the medullo. I will pray that we are right and that it will be something very easily taken care of.

Hi, I have been stopping by but not signing in again, yes Chris you can lash me with words of guilt. Katie you are so special, and cute. Pigtails at last, Cameron is getting some hair back but won't last long since he gets a new round of chemo starting sometime in March. I pray the scan is what it is supposed to be and they fix the ear problem. It is awful to have earaches all the time. Remember we here in neighboring Washington state love and care for you and your family.

Hi Katie, I just wanted to stop by and say Hello. Your pigtails are beautiful. I think it will be awhile before Jonathon even has enough hair to comb. Our prayers are with all of you.

Happy Happy Happy Birthday, I know I am a bit late but was going to post last night and my server kept booting me offline so it never completed. You are a big three now, and I am so glad. Thanks for giving Cameron the Bob back. He is so crazy for Bob. I decided his Mom and Dad were being unreasonable having no packages under their tree so I took Cameron's gifts over early. I put them under the tree and guess what?? He opened two of them. Both were Bob items and he went nutty and I guess Mom and Dad were right. He was so cute ripping open the packages, I did not have the heart to make him wait. So you have a Merry Christmas and Cheri enjoy your time off.

CHERI, KATIE IS SO PRETTY,, HAIR OR NO HAIR SHE IS A STUNNER. JACKIE ENJOYED THE PUMPKIN YOU SENT ON-LINE. SHE IS GETTING LINE OUT TOMORROW. TRYING TO NOT THINK ABOUT IT TO MUCH, WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GET IT OUT LAST WEEK BUT SHE HAD COLD. OH WELL, ANOTHER DISAPPOINTMENT IN A LONG LINE OF THEM, RIGHT? I CANT WAIT TILL 10 YEARS PASS AND WE CAN LOOK AT OUR WONDERFUL DAUGHTERS AND THINK OF THINGS OTHER THAN THIS TERRIBLE ILLNESS. I WILL CONTINUE TO CHECK UP ON KATIES PROGRESS.

Wow, I did a double take at that ecoli reference too. Glad to find it isn't earth shattering. Reading your previous guestbook notices, I noticed the Thanksgiving reference. We have ours in November, viva la difference! Do you celebrate Holloween, I'd like to send the girls a treat. Aren't Dad's wonderful? I guess the airlines charge what the markets will bear. Write that letter. Let them know that their plane is going to fly regardless of if they have special fares for little sweeties needing to go to Vancouver or not and you would certainly not cost them more money, but being allowed special fares. Fight their money grubbing mentality.

Hi Cheri... I read some of your recent posts, including the "venting" one. When people say "I'm glad to hear you're better" to Katie, bear in mind that they are referring to the fact that ANY improvement is positive. A step is a step and it shows she's trying. That little girl is truly a gift to all who meet her. she has such determination, and you've seen it first-hand. Two things here..... "Never say Whoa in a mud-hole"....and "God does not place fruit on a limb that is too weak to bear it." You've done well with her, Cheri...and she's been so good for you. ;) Katie's unknowingly done amazing things to anyone who's met her. She will never know the impact she's had on anyone. She's made many hearts softer - something this world needs a little more of.
Give many hugs to "Simple Laughter and Gentle Grace" for us...we love them both dearly, as we do you.
Love, Christine.

It is great that you vented Cheri, I can not pretend to understand fully how you cope day to day. I think there should be a benefactor out there to take care of these precious babes and their families, but I just for the life of me can not find a place that supports individual families. It is enough that you have all this stress, you should not have to worry about food for your family as well.
Any other people reading this post, do what is right and send this family at least ten dollars. To you it might only be a cheap lunch. If 100 people gave up that cheap lunch, she could get a thousand dollars. Do it once a month and she would have one less thing to worry about.
Love is the best medicine. Love contributes.

Hi guys,
Thanks for coming to my page so I could learn about yours.
WHY are there so many kids on caringbridge???
I just dont get it. At least, no matter what the diagnosis,
we all understand each other and all the effects this has on the family.
It has repercussions other people just dont realize -
financially, spiritually, sleep-wise, marriage wise even, and especially on siblings.
Hopefully we can all learn from, lean on and support each other.

Hi Katie,
My name is Scott. Your Aunt Christine is a friend of mine and told me you were very special to her. I can see why. It takes a special courage to face your challenge and you have. By the way the way, you have the most beautiful eyes.
I would like for you to know that you will be in my prayers. I believe you will allways be in the best of Gods care. I hope you believe that also. Good Luck Katiie
