Dear Friends of Nikki,

More milestones have come to be since Nikki created this journal for her friends and family. It has been five years since Nikki was diagnosed with cancer on July 2nd 2001, but I remember every detail of that time. It is very difficult to think that Nikki had to go through this terrible journey, but I thank all of her friends for being there for her as much as they could, knowing that it was difficult for all of you too.

On March 15th 2006 a special gift was sent to our family from the angels above, and I feel certain that one angel in particular had a special hand in creating this gift:) At 2:40pm Nikki's big sister, Natalie, gave birth to a baby girl, Sienna Nikki. Her eyes are the same indigo blue as Nikki's and she is so alert and it seems that she always "knew" us, right from the first moment she looked into our eyes. I think that Nikki was with Sienna while she made her journey to earth and into her mommy's arms, and I think they continue to "play" together when Sienna is drifting off to sleep as angel smiles appear on her lips. While Sienna is her own special person, I know that I can feel Nikki's love when I hold my sweet grandaughter.

As time marches on and things change, there will be changes at Build a Bear Workshop in September of 2006. They will retire Nikki's Bear III and introduce "Champ", a brown bear with a purple heart. This new bear will continue to bring children hugs and continue to fund BABW foundation for childrens heath and wellness initatives that Nikki's dream inspired.

We will also be continuing "Nikki's Run, Walk 'N' Roll for Children with Cancer as we hold the 4th annual 5K event on September 10th..you can go to www.nikkisrun.org for info...I hope that we can continue to raise the much needed funds for children's cancer research as this was also Nikki's dream. I hope to see all of you there:)
