Dear Lynette and Fred,
I just wanted to thank you again for talking to us when Alina was diagnosed. We really weren’t aware of the reality of Neuroblastoma, and probably never would have made the decision to go to Sloan Kettering without hearing about your experiences. I know our story is not over yet, but I am quite certain that had we stayed on the COG protocol, the blood clot she developed in her heart would have gone undetected for an extra two cycles of chemo, and she might never even have made it to surgery. Now we are certain she had the best treatment possible no matter what the outcome. I hope your family continues to do so well and that one day we get to meet in person. I am extremely grateful to your family and the links that brought us together.

Your Mom is very brave too, having fought with you to overcome cancer! I am so glad she is helping you learn and get ready for kindergarten! How exciting!

I check in on Joey's website every now and then to follow how he's doing. Reading your journal entries always brings tears in my eyes weather it be for joy or sadness. I pray that Joey continues to improve and enjoy every day which others just take for granted. I can't say I have the romote feeling or understanding of what you guys have gone and continue to go through on a daily basis. But I can tell you that your life has changed mine. I admire you both for your inner strenght and for your strong belief in your faith. I know that Joey can't be any luckier to have both of you as parents and one day when he is old enough he will see how much you love him. Hi Linny, Freddy & boys...I just looked at your photo album and I am thrilled to see how well Joey looks. God bless him and all of you including your extended family. Dr. Freddy had shown me some pics of the boys when I was there. They are just beautiful. We're heading back to MI as soon as Raquel sees a plastic surgeon about a few moles she has. She had one removed from her belly right before we moved which was about 2-1/2 years ago so I think these will have to get removed as well. Better safe than sorry. Hello, Linny and the gang....You dont know me but i am a friend of Carmen who a while back mentioned Joey's sickness in a conversation to me and since then I always ask about you and read your webpage from time to time. I cant even imagine what you and your family are going through (like you said) NO CLUE! but the strength you & Joey have together with your family is admirable. I dont even know if I would be blessed with that. Could it true what they say "God wouldnt give you anything you cant handle". I just wanted to tell you and your family and I will keep praying for Joeys well being. Cant wait to read about the day that Joey is clear of all medications and diseases and keep being positive because it will happen. I have 3 kids 2 girls 5 & 3 and a 4 mth old baby boy so your way of venting and writing this whole journal has made realize how stupid we all can be about fussing of the little things in life as well as making me appreciate the precious things more. Family and good friends are whats important and what helps us through these difficult times and that is what should require our most attention!!!!!

Dear Vallejo Family:
Irma Vallejo has been keeping me up-dated with Joey's progress and I am very excited for all of you. I understand the emotional roller coaster that cancer puts you through. I lost my mom to leukemia on Palm Sunday. Although she embraced whatever God sent her way, her only wish was to perhaps have the opportunity to be around a little while longer to see her only two grandsons {Nicholas 12 and Andrew 9}get a little older and be a part of their wonderful growing experiences. When my mom passed on, someone told me that I now have a direct contact for when I pray and knowing how my loved children, I have asked her if at all possible to help Joey in anyway that was allowed by God. I do believe that with the help of the wonderful doctors and through the power of all our prayers, how could Joey not win? With time, you will be able to witness - so to say - the rebirth of Joey and to do all the things that you had to put on hold during his treatments. I wish you all the best and know that God is always there for us.

I read the story in the newspaper and just wanted you to know my son was diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage 4 at 131/2 monthes old. There are miracles and cures. He is now almost 17 yrs. old. We have been aware of your situation for many months, and have been updated by Jorge and Charlie from time to time. Your family has certainly been challenged in a significant way, and although it is clearly difficult for all of you, I know that it comes with blessings as well. Linny, I'm sitting at the computer...odd for me...but I was eager to check on Joey's website. You know how thrilled we are that you all will be home soon! Our thoughts and prayers are with you daily and hearing how things are coming along well delights our hearts. The delay on the radiation is kind of a bummer but I was happy to hear yesterday that you were not going to be upset about it and accept that things are happening as they should. It is wonderful how you both have let God's wonderful strength and love carry you through this experience...amazing what great things we can endure with His love. Again, we can't wait to have you home although we know we won't be able to hang out much together at first. It'll just be great knowing you are down the road and that you are all well! You know that you all mean so very much to us and there isn't anything we wouldn't do for you. I know how hard it is to have some one close with cancer, 5 years ago I had a sister who died from cancer. Now that I have a child of my own (18 months old) I feel that it must be harder than a sister or other family member with cancer. I will have Joey and you (his family) in my prayers every day, and every minute I have to speak to God. With God's help he will be cured, I know for sure that miracles DO happen! You just have to believe!
