Saturday, December 27, 2003 10:55 PM CST Tiffany is doing great...as well as Brent and Sara, too. It has been a bittersweet holiday season. I cannot help but to remember the children that are not with us anymore...and they are but few of thousands who have passed. My heart breaks at the thoughts of those mothers and fathers that must miss those children so terribly.
Tiff finished chemo 7 months ago and finished her monthly antibiotics the day before Thanksgiving. Now, it's monthly blood counts, spinal tap in January. The final spinal tap will be in May, as well as her port removal.
It's hard to believe that this treatment has been three years and going on two months. You know, that's a really long time to be in treatment. Thankfully Tiffany has done very well. Thankfully to God I would say. The financial burden is huge and hopefully I can start working full time again soon.
I have heard it said that you take the treatment time and double it and that's how long it takes to get back on your feet, so to speak. I believe it. Finances aside, I hold Tiffany every morning and thank God for her life.
I listen to her breathe and watch her sleep so peacefully. I wonder how I would ever cope with a relapse? I don't know that I could. If you remember how much you loved that first child when they were born?..every day I love her more and more. Every day I try to remember to love every one a little bit more.
I don't remember a lot of what happened early on...as I read the guest entries it's as if I am reading some of them for the very first time. Life has changed and I have changed. Cancer does that, you know. I can't find the book on re-entering reality. Your life becomes redefined.
Hope and Faith have never been more important this holiday season. Life is so very short not to love with your whole heart...and best of all we always have room to love even more. Merry Christmas and may the Lord be with all of us.
