Leandra's Lifeline

Our Angel came into our lives.. Feb. 3 , 2001 . We never could have imagined what she brought with her. Teaching us so much of love, selfishness, and sacrifice... was many of the few things. Leandra was transplanted with Umbilical Cord Blood on Aug. 29 , 2001 for a disease called Krabbe's Disease. Although it was effective and diminished some of her pain and suffering she went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 28 , 2003.

"And now.. these three remain.. Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is LOVE!"

Please always love like it is your last day.. you never know when it may come.

Well, hello to those of you still checking in on us. Many thanks and prayers go out to all of you. It seems amazing how much time has passed so quickly. I cannot believe all the changes we have surpassed in time.

Ok so anyway, Yes the girls are doing wonderful. Just as beautiful and precious as they were before. Only growing so quickly. Miss Lindsay just graduated from 5th grade yesterday and will soon be on her way to middle school. I cannot believe it but it is so true, she has accomplished making the cadet corp or drill team already and is looking forward to seeing many old friends as well as making new. She also still remains active in Taekwondo. As a Junior Instructor Trainee we see her there three nights a week and enjoy every moment of it. Of course having turned eleven just two months ago.. we are hitting the boy crazy stage. But she seems pretty sensible still. Thank goodness. She still loves and misses every family we ever made acquaintance with in our "krabbes world" and thinks of all the blessed children quite often.

Miss Lauren... well she is a ham.. quite mouthy sometimes... I think she gets it honest... of course I can't decide if that is me or Lindsay.. Just joking. But anyhow. She is still loved. She just turned four earlier this month and we are hoping to get her into preschool this fall. She has enough energy and love for her and her sister Leandra. She is a Non-stop ball of fun. She is a very smart little girl and just wonderful.

As for me... well you know. I just continue to hang in there. Some days are still hard and some are easier.. but our memories bring much joy to my life still. I never felt more in touch with my purpose in life as when Miss Leandra was still here with me.. but the other two girls are just as important in my circle of life as she was and still is. I have not had access to the internet for a long time.. so that is why I have not kept up here nor there. But dont let that make you assume for one moment I have not thought of all of you everyday. I guess in some ways it was a part of my healing process. To let go of some others pain and worries for a moment to focus on myself as well as the girls. God knows I may still need some fine tuning. But we are doing ok.
Still furthermore. We are still praying for the day to come to find a healthy relationship with my ex husband and the girls to find the same. It is amazing how things like our experience can impact ones life differently. But I am sure we are not the only family who has experienced that either. I still more will ask for prayers as he has met another and has another child on the way. I am only praying that all will be well and they will not have to suffer the extremities of the disease as we and so many others have. Of course the odds are rare. But many of us realize those realities exist.

Well, I will now attempt to update the pictures so all of you can see just how beautiful the girls are and close with lots of love and gratitude for all of you whom have helped us along the way. Stay positive and appreciate every moment of life. For we know not when it may turn in ways we have never imagined. Sending much, much love!
