Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you."

Sunday, November 6, 2005 12:40 AM CST Hi everyone, I was very surprised to see some of you checking back for updates. So I am sorry I have not given you any! Rachel is in 8th grade now, her grades are awesome! Her GVHD seems to be settling down, since she has gained 8 lbs and grown an inch in the last 6 mo. She is now 4'5" and 68lb, so is very below average for an 8th grade girl. She continues to be on 10 medicines, including immunosuppresants, one of which is prednisone. She is tube fed at night to keep up calories which the GVHD takes. The weight gain is a good sign as we were barely maintaining 58 lbs for a while there, while pumping as many calories as we could. All that said, she is a pretty happy 8th grader. She is now wearing a wig and loves it since it has a breathable, non-itchy cap and it is human hair. She also got a permanent bridge where her teeth were knocked out during surgery, so it stays in all the time even when she eats. Her lung function is also back up to the best it has been since transplant, about 58% of normal. Please pray that she would grow, grow and grow some more! And also that she would depend on God and talk to Him when she gets upset or feels different from everyone else. Thank you again for your care, concern and prayers! Jenni Swink
