Thursday, January 29, 2009 8:14 PM CST Well it has been a year since the last update on Nate and alot has happened in his life. The best news is that his January 2009 MRI results came back nice and clean so that means that Nathan continues to be in remission! We are getting close to 9 years from his diagnosis at age 9. Nathan will turn 18 this year and graduate from high school. He is looking at colleges and doing well in his studies. Sadly, Nathan's grandfather passed in the fall of 2008 after a battle with cancer. Pete and Nathan were very close and Pete always said that Nathan was an inspiration to him as he dealt with all the challanges that cancer caused him. Pete was a kind and generous soul and we see him in the man Nathan is becoming. Nathan's main activity outside of enjoying the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Catholic High School activities and spending time at the coast of North Carolina is bowling. He is bowling in a Saturday league at Carolina Lanes in Matthews and in the CCHS bowling club. Last year he qualified and participated in the July 2008 Junior Gold Tournament in Detroit, Michigan. Happily, he has once again qualified this year for Junior Gold and plans to attend this summer's tournament in Indianapolis. Nathan enters all the bowling tournaments he can right now as he is trying to improve and gain experience. Nathan also volunteered last summer at the Levine Children's Hospital as a teen volunteer and volunteers at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church as a Eucharistic minister. Nathan has grown to become a kind and giving young man.
