Angel Gage, World's Best Hugger

Gage Daniel Edwards
August 2,1996~June 12,2005

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Gage joined the angels in Heaven after a long and hard fight with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, a brain and spine tumor. He enjoyed a three year remission from 2001-2005 where he was given the opportunity to spread his love, happiness, kindness and hugs to everyone he met. He endured horrible chemotherapy, several surgeries, radiation and a long, long stem cell harvest and rescue. He made new friends everywhere he went. We are so grateful that we got to hold him, love him and hug him the extra 3 1/2 years that we did. He got to go to school, make new and precious friends, join boyscouts, do karate and what he liked most...give out hundreds and hundreds of hugs. We miss him and love him to infinity!!!

God saw he was getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around him
And whispered, come to Me
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer
And saw him fade away
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes THE BEST!

You are forever on our minds and in our hearts Gage! We Love You To Infinity!

"I thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new,
I thought about you yesterday
And days before that too.
I think of you in silence
I often speak your name,
All I have are memories
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake
With which I'll never part,
God has you in His keeping
I have you in my heart."

Happy Birthday Gage!!!!!
It is hard to believe my sweet little boy would have been a young man of 14 today. I still see him as my sweet 8 almost 9 year old. I imagine he would be taller and just as handsome as he was then. Beau and I were talking about what he would like today. We think it would still be music, chasing girls and probably still dirt bikes like Beau. ( Funny...same things Beau is into at 11.) We will always cherish Gage's love, laughter and happiness in life! We sure miss him. I know and feel that Gage is with me everyday. He helps keep me grounded and reminds me what is most important in my life...my family.

We are celebrating Gage's birthday with the 5th annual Blood Drive tomorrow in Alliance from 9-5 at the Alliance Public Library. Come on out and enjoy some delicious cinnamon rolls made by my dear friend Michelle or the other great goodies made by the great RSVP ladies. Thanks to each and every one of you who have helped us out through all these years. I know we are so blessed! I often go for walks at night and look at the gorgeous sunsets. The wheat fields and sunflowers with the beautiful pink and blue sky just bring the happiness of Gage to my heart...it truly makes me feel so blessed to have the family and friends I do. Everybody should be so lucky....

I should probably update more so I don't have to write a book everytime I do...oh, well. All the important stuff has been said so you don't have to read the rest...(for the non-readers aka Justin) We are all doing pretty well. Grief has definitely been a roller coaster and suppose it alway will be. Weird things trigger me and I suppose Justin and Beau too. I feel as long as we stick together, we can make it through anything though. Beau is doing well. He has been fever free besides a couple ear infections this summer and is healing up from a little dirt bike wreck he had. His leg got a pretty good scrape and is still on the mend...kind of gross. He will be going back to Hemingford School this year...no more home schooling for me. I am hoping and praying he has a good school year! Between it, work, Beau being sick and his stubbornness...I was ready to jump, run, race...whatever, off the edge. It is nice to be less stressed. I know probably 75as scared that he had something that started with C or just as bad. It is so nice to see him laugh, argue, play, ride his dirt bike...just anything moving and not hurting. What a relief! He is planning on playing tackle football and will be in the enduro next weekend with his dirt bike at the fair...I just hope he doesn't get hurt. I would love to keep him in a bubble of safety...but on the other hand, you have to enjoy the things you love and he loves dirt biking. Justin and I are doing well. We will be celebrating out 15th anniversary next week. I don't when we got so old! We went to his 20 year class reunion last weekend and had a nice time meeting some old friends. Work is work for him. Same old same old but new leadership that will hopefully bring some positive light to his workplace. They are long overdue. My work is about the same to. My office help moved in April, new girl who didn't work out in May and crossing my fingers a new girl a week ago who will get trained and stay for awhile. Needless to say, I put in a lot of stinking hours in June/July and ready to get back to less hours and more time with my family where I belong. It has been kind of been a work, work summer with a few camping trips and a day trip to the Black Hills. We may try to sneak something else in before school gets here, but it is coming up soon.

My good friend Brandon is going to be updating the Bear Hugs site as soon as I get time to get him all my bear pics. I have some shirts sitting here next to me that I desperately need to get made and shipped off. I feel so bad I haven't gotten them done yet...but there is only so many hours in the day. I will definitely have them done by the end of the week! So...if you send stuff for bears, yes I am making them, just slower because I am not working my shorter shift yet. Hopefully soon!

Another one of our CPC friends have joined the other sweet CPC angels in Heaven. Please keep Amanda and her family in your prayers. She was a beautiful daughter and I imagine a wonderful friend.

We have had a few cancer scares in our extended family lately. I hope and pray they all end well and they can get on in life enjoying what is important to them. They will remain nameless but I think and pray for them anyway. Everybody deals with cancer and grief so differently...there is just no right or wrong way.

Please keep all the caringbridge families in your thoughts and prayers.

I promise to update and revamp pictures soon...by mid September...promise.

Thank you to all our family, friends and stranger friends for all your support throughout the years. We wouldn't be as strong with out you...we truly appreciate it.

Hi Gage,
Happy Birthday Bud. We love and miss you so, so much. We are doing your annual blood drive to help others just like you would like for your birthday. Should probably be doing more but just don't know what...send us a sign okay. Buddy is doing good. Laying here next to me snoring as I type. Dad, Beau and I all hope you had a great Birthday in Heaven. We miss you and love you to infinity!!!Can't wait to see you on the flip side.
