Nathan
Welcome to Nathan's Web Page. Nathan was 32 months old when he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor, on June 25, 2003. The tumor was completely removed on June 26 and the cancer had not spread to the spine. Nathan had 5 rounds of chemotherapy at Children's Hospital in Omaha and a stem cell transplant at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. On May 25, 2004 an MRI showed that the cancer was back. We are now working with a neuro-oncologist in Denver, CO. After the cancer responded poorly to more chemo, we tried radiation and are waiting to see its effects. We hope it is the cure. So far Nathan has taken everything really well. Nathan is now 8 and he is very curious, very active, and just wants to play and have fun. He has an older brother Drew (10) and a younger sister Sarah (6). We are full of hope and greatly appreciate your support.

Saturday, December 13, 2008 6:49 AM CST Great news! Nathan's MRI was on thursday and shows that most of the tumors are gone. They don't consider him cured until 6yrs post radiation so we have to make it to aug of 2010. Dr Foreman told us we can go to yearly MRI's instead of every six months. That's a big step and he said he would set up an MRI anytime we wanted if we were getting nervous. Nathan contiues to grow and looks like he will get to be average height. Everyone we saw was extremely happy with his progress. Now we just have to focus on the effects of the radiation both on his physical and mental health. While we were at the hospital Nathan got his picture taken with the Avalanch Hockey team. They gave him autographs and other cards. Nathan doesn't know who they were but he gave them his autograph and wrote them a note about being the best hockey players ever. He also said they need work on writing their names neater. We also saw Miss America at the clinic but she didn't stop to talk. Now we can focus on getting our christmas letter done and get presents wrapped for the kids. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas
Thank you for checking in.
