Amanda and Nicky 07

Welcome to our Amanda's Web Page. Amanda is a survivor of a Rhabdomyosarcoma. We are very lucky and keep all of our little friends who are going through this nightmare in our prayers.
Amanda was diagnosed at age 17 months. When Amanda was diagnosed in 1997, I searched the internet for survivors and information and there was very little. This is the reason for creating this page. Amanda has been Cancer free and off treatment since 1998. Amanda was diagnosed with a dysfunctional immune system in 2001. Our Oncologist and Immunologist told us that the high dose of chemo at a young age caused this side effect. We tried IVIG, but decided to just put up with the frequent fevers, viruses.

Amanda has been doing really well healh wise.
I'm starting to think that her immune system
problem is NOT a problem anymore.
She has been spending lots of time with her friends especially her best friend. She had 5 sleep overs during April vacation and is turning 11 May 12th.

THe bad news is that her feet have been really bothering her
during figure skating and have gotten progressively worse.
She's going to need physical therapy. She is still trying to skate and has 2 competitions coming up, but I'm thinking of having her withdraw from them. I already withdrew her from her club's annual show. She was sad, but understood that it wouldn't work out since most seeions she ends p taking off her skates and sitting on the bench with her feet (in tights) on the ice.

She still plays soccer also and this doesn't seem to bother her feet all that much, so at least she can still do that.
