Catherine is doing great! I'm amazed to think that in December of this year we will celebrate Catherines 5th anniversary of her being a cancer survivor and liver transplant recipient. She is now in first grade at Our Lady of Grace School in Encino with her two brothers Christopher (14 years) and Michael (11 years). She is 6 years old and is very healthy. Catherine is enjoying playing soccer (and is very happy that dad is her coach). She also loves the fact that her dad is the "room parent" for her class.
Catherine continues to have slightly abnormal liver enzyme levels due to the problem with the blocked hepatic artery. Luckily this doesn't seem to pose a major problem and her body seems to have created enough collateral blood vessels to accomodate the blood supply needs of the liver. We now only go to the liver clinic twice a year at UCLA and our local GI doctor at Kaiser a couple of other times a year. Blood tests are now only every 3 months.
We remain eternally greatful to God for Catherine's continued good health. We are also thankful for my 11 year old neice Kelly who is also now a cancer survivor. We pray that this site will provide hope to families beginning the cancer journey with a child.
Sincerely, Terry Daggi
