Hello to everyone. I just read catiebugs story. I cried. I feel the pain also. Our beautiful daughter and only child Lillian is battling neurablastoma. Diagnosed at 8 months, she is now 9 years old. She is our sunshine. Everyday I still wonder in my mind will this tumor start growing again. Lillian is a gifted child and high honor roll student. We have great hope for Lillian's future. GOD BLESS all of our children and all the little angels in heaven watching over us. Please find a cure for our children.

To Gina and Larry, and the boys: The publicity from the recent article involving J.K. Rowling's gift to the Foundation is not only a testament to the author's generosity and insight into the strength of Catie's spirit and personality, but also a reminder of the constant love and devotion of her parents and family. A parent's love for a child is unremitting, undying, and everlasting, and Rowlings' gift will allow the Foundation to do much good in Catie's name. She would have been very proud of that. It is through selfless acts such as this which gives meaning to the word humanity. I look forward to seeing the ladybugs in the springtime, and when I do see them, my thoughts will turn to a very special, brave, and sweet girl who was way ahead of both us and her own tender years in many ways.

O'ya, I forgot to add, and I swear this is so true! After the lady bugs flew away right at that moment the lady who gave the lady bug to my daughter yelled out to hers! Her daughter's name was Katie!

Hi Gina, Today we were at the soccer field and a lady bug landed on my daughter, she accidently squeezed it and out came a little bit of yuck. My daughter asked me if it was lady bug blood and I said yes. She got real sad. Then the lady next to us with out knowing that the lady bug was hurt, gave my daughter another lady bug. Both were in my daughter's hands and both flew away. They lady next to us said she just found out that lady bugs could fly, I said they could always fly. My Mom is on her last battle of cancer. Iv been so very up set. I sort of help you out once, so in a way I thought that your little angel was helping me out by telling me she will help my mother go home. Lots of times I thought I'd go crazy with the pain of losing my mother. When I met you, I knew that losing your mother is not the worst thing, but losing your child is the worst thing that could ever happen to a person. You both gave me courage to get through my pain. I don't want to lose my Mom she is my best friend. Just like Catie was yours (I think).I'm too embarrassed to give out my real name, so I hope you do not mind. I'm kind of a private person.

Hi Guys, it's been two years since Catie left us, and this is the first time I have been able to get on this site since then. Now that Natalie is approaching 9, the devastating realization of your loss is brought home again for us. We continue to mourn the loss of our friend and dear neighbor. We admire you so for carrying on with such dignity and grace--both within and outside of the Foundation.

We are just one of many lives Catie has touched! Thank you so much for the "fun money" from Catie's foundation. My daughter, Lina, is new to treatment at Sloan-Kettering, and this will help us explore this exciting city and make some great memories. What a beautiful way to honor your daughter and give a tiny piece of her spirit to us. Thank you so much!!

Dear Gina, Larry, Robby and Johnny:
We are so sad to hear about Kevin. He was such a sweet boy and such a good friend to Catie. Please pass on our love and sympathies to his family. Somehow I knew that Catie would be there to help him and take care of him. Now they are together to look over and take care of all of us! We love you all.

Dear Gina and Larry:
I hope that your Christmas will be a pleasant and joyful Christmas ever. Even though Catie is in Heaven she will always be in our hearts. I am sorry to hear about Kevin. He is in a better place now. Please give my condolences to his family and that I am truly sorry about their loss. It makes no sense of this disease killing innocent lives. I hate the word Cancer. My step-father died from lung cancer in June of this year. It doesn't just affect the patient it also affects the family too. May God Bless you always and HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Dear Gina and Larry: What an amazing gift this site is. I live in the Berkshires, and my children attend school with Kevin Hirt. I know the sad battle that Kevin will soon lose. I have heard of Catie so often over the last three years since our family moved to the Berkshires - the stories of the friendship, that meant so much to Kevin, of the prom that wasn't, of the garden that Kevin planted in Catie's memory - my heart has broken many times for you and your angel, Catie, and, of course, for Kevin and his family... I was overwhelmed tonight by the magic and power and love that I found on these pages.

I know that Catie and Kevin will be reunited soon, and that keeps me going. God Bless these children.

Dear Gina, I dont know exactly what I am looking for. But my son was just dx with nbIV the day before Thanksgiving. I'm coping o.k. I am just scared to death. I wish it was me instead. Why do I have to watch my baby go through this. You know I was a very quiet person who never did anything risky. I just lived a normal life. I was afraid to do alot of things, always fearing the unkown. After my son's diagnosis I feel that I can do anything because a mothers greatest fear has already been presented to me. There is nothing in this world that I will ever be afraid of. My son is 5 years old. He had developmental delay as they call it. I always knew their was something more to it. I kept searching. I was right and it is bad. I prayed to God every night to give me strength and wisdom. Somehow God gave me the grace to handle it. We are currently being treated a Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. We are going for our third round of chemo on Friday January 12. If you can offer any words of wisdom or prepare me for my long haul please doIwould appreciate it. I'm scared and people try to offer their support. But they don't understand because they have not experienced it. thank you....You can contact me at duke0196@aol.com Sincerely, Joey's Mom

Dear Larry & Gina
I think what you are doing is WONDERFUL!!! Catie was a beautiful little girl! I'm glad we got a chance to meet you in New York (MSKCC). It has been a year since Kelsie has passed and I think it gets better with time. We still have some good days and some bad as you both know too well! We've learned that keeping busy seems to occupy a lot of the emptiness. Kelsie was my best friend and I'm sure Catie (your little girl) was mommie's best friend as well. We have become involved with a non profit organization entitled "Rosie's Love". Rosemary Johnson was another little girl in Albany who lost her life to Neuroblastoma as well. We are just getting started and trying to raise awareness for children's cancer and especially Neuroblastoma! We are doing fundraisers in the Capital District as well. A lot of what we raise goes back to families at Albany Med who are battling cancer. We have our 1st annual fall festival planned for Oct 14th & 15th in Clifton Park. I would love to catch up with you sometime and talk. Good luck with your RUN!!!!!!and GOD BLESS!!!!
PS: I would love to purchase a lady bug pin. Let me know how?

Gina & Larry, I have met alot of people in my life, but never have I met people quite as inspiring as you. Catie was clearly in a class of her own. Reading through this website, it is nothing short of amazing the way she touched people. Her bravery was unmatched. But now, with her passing, I have come to know you better and I see exactly where Catie came from. Having both of you for parents was and is a true blessing for your children. You are the most unselfish people I have encountered. Giving to others when you have to be hurting the most is beyond commendable. You have earned your place in heaven with Catie in my book. It has been a pleasure working on this race with you. I know it will be a huge success.

I am a very good friend of Ben, Nick, and Diane Durant. I have heard so many wonderful things about Catie and your family from Diane. My daughter Katie will be 8 this year and I can't imagine enduring the things Catie and Ben have had to go through, or you as parents. What a beautiful website! My husband, Phil, and I send you our condolences. As parents also, we can only imagine the heartache you have endured. Back in May, Phil had bought Catie a pocket angel, but unfortunately did not get it to her in time. Very sorry. I work in Persnickety's part-time and know everyone there thinks the world of you. I picked up one of the Catie Bug Race forms there and intend on WALKING in the race! I wish there was more I could do. Please let me know if I can help you with anything. I would love to help! Also feel free to contact Phil at Town Hall if you need anything else announced at the Town Board meetings. Tom Paolucci was nice enough to announce the race at a recent meeting.

Do not stare at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on riped grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there. I did not die....

God Bless You All, We'll miss you Catie! Love, Julie

Dear Catie:
You are such a special person in all of our lives. There will never be another child like you. I will truly miss you even though I never met you in person. I feel that you are looking down at all of us here on earth and smiling down on us with peace and tranquillity that you so richly deserve.
Good night sweet Angel so full of light. It will be lonely since your out of our sight. No more suffering, no more pain. Only eternity with our Lord Jesus and Mother Mary will you gain. How strong you were and never complain. Life without you will never be the same. So lets say Goodnight Sweet Angel for just a while longer. Until we meet in Heaven where we won't never wonder.
And for Gina, Larry, and Family:
I am truly sorry for the loss of your precious daughter Catie. I cannot express the sorrow that I feel since she has gone to be with our Lord. I can see her now going on the esculator to Heaven and Jesus on one side and Mother Mary on the other side of Catie holding her hand. Please remember that Jesus and God is with you always and he will give you strength and peace that Catie is in heaven with them and that someday you too will be with her. God is the answer to our troubles and sorrow and through him we will have eternal life. If you need anything please feel free to write and I will be glad to help in anyway I can. May God be with you and comfort you always. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.

Hi Catie: How wonderful to be able to visit with you on the NET. I loved all the pictures, and Gwennie (you met her when Gerrit was christened) wants to go to a prom too! We heard from Annelieke that you and she had a wonderful visit! We think of you often down in CT and send you our prayers and love. You must be VERY good at keeping secrets! Take care, my dear, and much love from Annelieke's Auntie annelieke.

Hi Sweetheart, I am so pleased that your Foundation Fund is doing well especially since the people know that all the $1,$5. and $10. donations really add up. I know how all the donations for you made it possible for you to do all the things you did during the past 2 1/2 years of treatments. We'll keep praying for you and all the other children who are suffering from that terrible disease. Many thanks to your mother for thinking of the other children. It's just like her and your dad to think of others at a time like this. God bless all of you. Love, Papa and Dommie

Hi Sweetheart Catie, I was wrong when I gave all the credit to your uncle Sam for all the photos. Your uncle Bob Godgart also put some photos in your website. He and aunt Fran are always doing something for you and your Mom. We all love you so much and that is easy to do, since you are so absolutely sweet and wonderful to everyone. Hi Sweetheart Catie, You look beautiful with Kevin in the photos. I always knew my oldest son Sam would do something to help if we waited long enough. You know I'm just kidding. He always helps anyone in the family that needs help. I'm thrilled with what he has done with all the photos. You deserve all the help anyone can give you and the Fund. My donation is in the mail. Hi, Catie, Gina, Larry and the Boys,
I just went throught all of the links and everything works great. You did a great job setting up this most important Foundation page. To watch our beautiful niece and her family fight this disease with such caring and sharing to all, up and beyond their own needs, has been quite a witness to all of Catie's family. Families do need care. Gina and Larry's idea of treating the "Kid" in Catie has kept us all going, especially her. God Bless All of You for Giving to others through this website.
We love you Catie!
Love,
Aunt Martha, Uncle Sam and all of Catie's family.
