Hannah had a check up at Denver Childrens on March 7th. Everything looks great! She no longer has to have scans. We will take her back to Denver in September for the HOPE clinic. H.O.P.E. stands for Helping Oncology Patients Excel. The HOPE clinic was created to provide support and education to childhood cancer survivors of all ages. After September she will only need to go to Oncology clinic once a year.

Hannah is so smart. Hopefully oneday she will overcome her fear of talking. We have some information on Selective Mutiusm, sounds a lot like our little Hannah. She talks to kids and a select group of adults. Her teachers in school have been very good with her.

Thanks for checking in on Hannah. She is amazing!

Hannah is amazing! Her health is great. To look at her you would never know how hard she had to fight for her life.

She is in second grade this year. Lots and lots of spelling and math. She is doing well.

She has her next 6 month check-up in March.

Sorry for not updating sooner, thanks for checking in on Hannah.

Hannah is learning to read!! How fun, I love to sit with her and have her read to me. School is going good, this month the class is learning about sea critters.

Hannah had her friend, Brendan, over to play yesterday. Hannah took him for a ride around the block in her Barbie Jeep. Then she let him drive. Hannah has deffinatly had more practice! :) They are too cute.

Hannah had her visit to the dentist on the 4th. She has one cavity in the back tooth on the upper left. We'll go back on the 29th for a filling. Hope that goes okay!

The trees in our yard a beautiful yellow, I'll be sad to see them go. Fall never lasts long enough. Thanks for looking in on Hannah!

Hannah had a cat scan and a bone scan on Wednesday the 15th. Cat scan was normal. Bone scan showed one little spot in her jaw, probably a cavity or inflammation from growing a molar. We will take her to the dentist to have this checked out. Creatinine still holding stable at 0.9 and BUN at 25.
We took her to Chuck E. Cheese for a treat. She had lots of fun for about 2 hours.
She is happy to be back home and back to school. School pictures are today. Our neighbor gave Hannah a bird nest that fell out of her tree. Hannah took it for show and tell today. Her class is learning about bugs, butterflies and bubbles. She is having lots of fun!
Thank you for checking in on Hannah.

Saturday, August 28, 2004 10:04 AM CDT

Hannah started 1st grade on Wednesday. Her teacher is Mrs. Harder. (Mrs. Harder was Mike's 4th grade teacher):) Hannah was so excited that two of her best friends are in her class, but a bit disapointed that they do not sit next to eachother. There is a plactic swimming pool in the classroom where 3 turtles are living. How fun! These are good days. Thank you for looking in on her. We go to Denver Sept.14th for scans the 15th and clinic the 16th.

Sorry for not updating sooner! We have moved into our first home!! It's so wonderful. Lots to do. Hannah has the room down stairs. She sold all her Noaha's Ark things we started collecting before she was born, and went on a shopping spree for SPORTS STUFF. Her room is the coolest! It's her. She played on a T Ball team with her cousin, Bailey, coached by her uncle Tyler. It was lots of fun. I know she'll want to play again next year. We go to Denver in September for Bone Scan and check up. Hannah is feeling great and being a kid, the best thing we could ever hope for. Thanks for checking in on Hannah.

We went to Denver for Hannah's 2 year post BMT checkup March 2nd- 4th. Everything looks good. Her checkups will move to every 6 months now. To celebrate, we got Hannah her first bike. She picked Spiderman. It's a great looking bike. The weather has been nice in the afternoons so I have been taking the bike over to the school so she can ride it home. When it's warm enough in the mornings we'll make the trip both ways. School continues to be a joy for her. Her class has finished the alphabet and are now learning small words. They are also studying the human body. She is excited to start swimming lessons on the 23rd with her class. I wonder what in the world we will do to entertain her over the summer! :) We are so proud of Hannah. Thank you for checking in on her.

Hannah is doing great. She is having a blast at school! It's so good for her.:) Her class had a Valentine's day party on Friday. I took cookies and hung out while they had the party. How cute they are! All the kids (22) got such a kick out of opening the valentine's.

We have a bit of spring fever around here. It will feel so good to be able to play outside. We will head to Denver next month for 2 year post BMT check up. It's a long trip (7 hrs.) but Hannah is such a trooper. We always treat her to something fun after all the testing. It takes a lot of mental strength for her, she really gets in the zone when it's time to go. I'm so proud of her. Thank you for checking on Hannah. Prayers for all.

Happy New Year! Hannah is doing good. Christmas was a lot of fun, we all got a bit spoiled. Hannah's favorite thing she got for christmas is "every single thing I got for Christmas!" I'd say she's pretty happy. We have got to take the snow machines out a couple of times. Hannah really likes to ride with her dad, he goes fast! School starts up again Monday, Hannah is excited to get back to Mrs. Bishop and all her classmates. Thanks for checking on Hannah.

Next Friday her class gets to go on an all day field trip to learn about community helpers. They will visit the Fire Station, Public Health, City Hall and McDonalds for lunch! There will be other stops along the way also. She got a little hair cut yesterday. She wanted it cut short like daddy's but she settled for a little (an inch) off the back. We put up our Christmas Tree last night. It is the most beautiful tree we have ever had. It's a scotch pine, smells so good! Thanks for looking in on Hannah. Prayers for all the children.

Thursday, October 30, 2003 10:46 PM CST

Last night Hannah carved a pumpkin to enter in the pumpkin carving contest. The pumpkins were juged today then the main street in town was lined with all the pumpkins entered (around 75). The down town businesses had a "Treat Street" tonight for the kids. Today was our first day of snow, just in time for Halloween. We got all bundled up and headed down. It was a lot of fun. We played Bingo ( each store had it's own picture for the bingo card) and won! Hannah picked out a Sponge Bob balloon for her prize. She also won first place for her pumpkin!! We were so excited. Her cousin got second place for her pumpkin. All around it was a really good night. Tomorrow her class will have a Halloween party at 2:00. School is going great, she loves it! We are due to go to Denver the end of November or early December. She is feeling great, and very happy. Prayers for all. Happy Halloween!

Saturday, October 11, 2003 9:15 PM CDT

Last Sunday as Hannah was getting ready for bed I ask her if she was excited to go to school the following day. She said "Yes, I can't live without it! How many days have I been out anyway?" She is having a great time! She has learned the letters B N S R M and O. I just love to read to her, she now points to all the letters she has worked on in class. Her class has P.E on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Library and Music on Tuesdays. They get Art class every other Monday.

We are thankfull everyday for Hannah and how well she is doing. It's a joy to watch her grow. Love and prayers for all the children.

Our prayers for peace and comfort go out to the family of Dillon Jones. The Good Lord called him home this morning.
He will be missed. We love you Dillon!!

Wednesday, September 10, 2003 2:50 PM CDT

Hannah is doing great!! She started kindergarten on August 27th. The first week was a little rough. Kindergarten is all day here 8:25 - 3:15. I knew that sending her would be hard, Mike said that I would be outside hanging on the fence the first day. I did come home, to this stange sad happy scared worried feeling. Now 2 weeks later we are settled into a groove and she is loving school. Everyday I look forward to seeing the projects she brings home and listening to her tell the story of her day. She has come soo far. I'm so proud of her and our family.

Last trip to Denver in August was good. All scans clear, Audiogram stayed the same, creatinine remains stable at .9, and she has grown a bit.

Thanks for checking on her, I will not go so long between updates. Prayers for all the children.

-Mishelle and Mike

Saturday, June 21, 2003 11:35 AM CDT

Sorry it has been so long in updating.

Hannah turned 5 on the 7th. She had a really fun day. We took her to Thermopolis, Wy (32miles) to play miniature golf. She is good! She got lots of fun things for her birthday.

She spent 4 days at Bible School this month and had a blast. On the last day they put on a program of all the songs they learned. I thought she might get scared when she saw all the people, but she had a fun time singing and dancing with all the other kids. She said, "Bible School is so much fun that I want to go everyday!" We are excited for her to start Kindergarten in the fall. It will be a fun time for her.

We are growing a salsa garden. Tomatoes, banana peppers and jalapenos. Hannah is a good helper with the watering. She has sunflowers, pumpkins and watermelon growing. It has been fun for her to watch them grow from seeds.

We had her blood tested this week and everything is hanging stable. - CREATININE .8 - BUN a little higher at 30 HEMOGLOBIN 11.6 -PLATELET 236.

Hannah feels good. She has been playing outside a lot. In the swimming pool with her dog, Amy. They are the best of friends. Prayers for all the children.

Thursday, May 15, 2003 9:58 PM CDT

Hannah is doing great. We went to Denver on Monday, had a clinic appt on Tuesday with Dr. Shultz and then a bone scan later that afternoon with Becky. Everything looks good and we will go back in 3 months for another bone scan and a cat scan.
We got to see Mary and Jake Cohen while we were briefly there. Jake looks great! I asked him if he remembered me and he said yes, this was the first time he had ever said anything to me before. Then I got the sweetest hug from him that made my heart melt. He has been through so much and he seems so happy now. Great job Jake!
Hannah's bun was 26 and creatinine was .8 and that is what is was 3 months ago, so it is stable. Her blood pressure was great 90/50.
We are getting excited to go camping and fishing, Hannah just bought herself a spongebob squarepants fishing pole as a gift for being so well mannered on our trip to Denver. She is excited to try it out and can't wait to sleep in the tent. She has always loved camping, she likes to roast marshmallows over the fire she calls it marsh marshmallows.
We just keep chugging along here making the most out of each day. It is great having Hannah feeling good.
Please keep the children high on the prayer list.
Love, The Shipley's

Friday, May 2, 2003 9:32 PM CDT

Hannah is doing great. She has had a minor ear infection but that hasn't stopped her from doing anything short of everything. She has been having fun being a kid. We go to Denver on the 13th of this month for a check-up and bone scan.
I am so proud of her. She takes life as a gift and lives it to the fullest.
prayers for the kids, Mike

Saturday, April 12, 2003 9:33 AM CDT

Spring is poping out all over the land and we have been out and about enjoying the sunshine. We took Amy and Merlin swimming at the fishing pond. This was Amy's first time. Merlin was a little to excited and poor Amy couldn't swim without him trying to drown her. We had to put him in the Explorer for a while so Amy could play. They had a good time.

Hannah and her cousin, Bailey, got to see a lamb be born last weekend. Grandma and Grandpa Shipley's neighbors have sheep. They thought it was great. "slimy", but great.:)

Hannah is feeling good. She has been driving her Barbi jeep and playing in the sand box. This summer is going to be fun. Last year she had to stay inside all summer. It's a wonderful sight to see her go, and just be a kid.

Hannah is doing great. We check her blood every month to keep an eye on her kidney function. She had her blood drawn on tuesday. Her creatinine was the same as last month at .8 with a bun of 29, hemeglobin and platelets look fine as well as her white count. We are excited for spring, it was winter here again today but we will take the moisture anytime we get it. .....Mike

Monday, March 17, 2003 12:32 AM CST

Hannah is doing great. Happy St. Patricks Day, don't forget your green. Cold and rainy here today supposed to get one more winter blast tonight and tomorrow. Fine with me the added moisture is always good. Hannah has on her green buzz lightyear socks today. She is so cute. I made her green eggs and ham for breakfast and she will have green lime jello with lunch. We are doing fine here in Wyo hope all is well elsewhere. Prayers for the children....Mike

Tuesday, March 11, 2003 7:57 PM CST

Hannah is doing terrific! Mediport is out and healed and she feels great. She took her first shower last night and though it may not sound like much, it was. She was so excited and could not believe she had not tried to take one before. She always had fun in the bathtub but didn't realize what a shower felt like. She was giggling the whole time she was in there. She said is this why you take one of these before breakfast everyday? She took a shower this morning and wants to take one tonight too, we have created a monster (a clean one he he). Good to be clean though, since everything here is muddy muddy muddy. Weather has been very warm and all the snow is melting. Makes for some dirty dogs, wish they new how to take a shower lol. Well keep the children in your prayers.
......Mike

Thursday, March 6, 2003 3:06 PM CST

Tomorrow is Hannah's Bone Marrow Stem Cell Birthday #1. We will celebrate Hannah's one year anniversary with her new blood. She received her stem cells on March 5th 2002. I remember that day they brought in the 20cc's of stem cells that would allow Hannah to recover from the high dose chemo and we are going to celebrate it annually. Now Hannah will get two parties a year and two cakes :)
Hannah is doing great! We went for a ride on a snowmobile today out at Grandpa Guy's house. It snowed just enough for us to go around the house and down the lane. It is snowing again tonight so maybe we will get a chance to do it again tomorrow. More later......Mike

Thursday, February 27, 2003 2:44 PM CST

Hi everyone! Hannah is doing great. Her wound from the mediport removal is healing nicely. We haven't done much lately, winter finally showed up and it has been cold here. We had -30 a couple days ago after getting some much needed snow. We have been staying warm inside by the fire. Hannah is excited to get outside and play now that her mediport is out. She is getting a little stir crazy. We hope to build a snowman once the snow gets to the right stage for making one, it was too sugary and it needs to melt a little. Hope all is well with you and we will talk later. Prayers for all the kids....The Shipley's
p.s. I am getting this picture posting figured out I think...Finally

Saturday, February 22, 2003 11:25 AM CST

Hannah is doing great. We got back from Denver last night. Hannah did a terrific job the whole time. Her mediport was removed without a hitch. Dr. Janick is an incredible man and awesome surgeon. Her GFR kidney test was much better than her last. She went from 19 to 42 with her normal still being around 100. We hope to see continued improvement in her kidneys. We got to see Jake and his parents Dave and Mary Cohen. He looked good and gave me five, which was awesome. We also got to see Dakoda and his parents Vern and Tracee. Dakoda was getting his mediport out also. He is doing great and we are happy to see that.
Thanks for all the support and prayers, please keep the other families in your thoughts too
....Mike Mishelle Hannah Amy Merlin

Hannah has finished her Accutane and is done with her treatment. She has been doing great and enjoying normal kid stuff. Her immune system is back to normal and allows her to do about anything and go about anywhere. Her last scans were great and we will test her kidney function at the end of February. She will also get her mediport out at that time. Mishelle and I are so happy that Hannah is doing so well. Thanks for all the support and prayers

Thursday, December 19, 2002 at 12:05 PM (CST)

Hannah is doing fine. She started her last round of Accutane and in two weeks will be finally finished with her treatment. We continue to pray for her kidneys to recover and hopefully after this round of accutane they will get better. She is so excited for Xmas that she can hardly stand it. The elves brought her a early Xmas present already. She got a golden retriever puppy named Amy.
Please say a prayer for my Aunt Becky, she has been battling MS for a long time and could use a prayer.
Prayers for all the kids and their families and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful Holiday season!
Love, The Shipley's

Monday, December 02, 2002 at 01:51 PM (CST)

Hannah is doing better. She had some kind of virus and is taking a decongestant. It is the time of year for colds to go around. Her cousin Bailey had strept throat and had to stay away for a couple days but they still got to see each other on Thanksgiving Day.
Hannah also has what looks like athletes foot on her right foot. We have been putting antifungal medicine on it and continue to monitor it. Hope the immune system kicks in soon.
Hannah went in to get her blood drawn today and hopefully this will be the last time we have to do it for a long time. She has been getting it done weekly and is due to start her last round of Accutane tomorrow if all looks good today. This means she won't have to get stuck in the arm anymore for a while. Her next scans will be the week of Jan 6th then every 3 months for a year. We should see where we stand on kidney function after the Accutane, although it may take more time for them to heal.
I am starting to hear jingle bells and we are getting excited for xmas. Prayers for all the kids
more later....Mike, Mishelle, Hannah

Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at 01:10 PM (CST)

Hannah has her first cold post transplant and has not felt real well the last two days. She has a cough and sore throat so we have to keep an eye on her. Other than that, she is improving nicely as far as her kidneys are concerned. Her last creatinine was .9 and her bun was 26. She is due to start her last round of accutane next tuesday and will take it for two weeks and be done with her treatment plan !!! We will travel to Denver after the first of the year for her scans and to hopefully get her mediport removed. She will then get scans every three months for a year. We hope to see continued improvement of her kidneys after the last round of accutane.
It will still take time for her immune system to be normal and we will have to keep her away from germs until that happens.

We got more pictures from our trip and they are wonderful. Hannah had her own camera and took pictures of all sorts of stuff from a kid's perspective, even one of her shoe :) . She said her favorite part of the trip was getting to meet Woody and Buzz together. She was so determined to see them that her shyness faded and we got to see the bold Hannah that won't take no for an answer. When she sets her mind to something she follows thru and that is what is so amazing about this 4 year old girl.

Mishelle and I are suprising her with a golden retriever puppy for xmas. She has wanted one for so long and we happened to find one at this time of year in this area. She has had two stuffed puppies that have been crucial in her recovery. She has one that looks like the dog we have now Merlin and she has another that looks like a golden that we are getting named Amy. She has wanted Merlin to have a friend and she wants to name her Amy just like her stuffed dog. They were both given to her by her Grandma Shipley and she had them from the start of her hospital stay and they continue to comfort her now. They even went into surgery with her and we had to find little gowns for them. It will be great to see her face when we give her her new puppy, she has no idea she is getting it even tho we keep asking her how she would take care of it if she got one. She told us she would give it food and water and take it outside and we believe her.

We are excited for Thanksgiving, especially Hannah. She didn't get to eat any turkey last year and this year she says she is gonna eat the leg. That will be unbelievable if she eats the whole thing, my Mother bought a 20+ lb turkey lol.
Happy Thanksgiving to all and to all a great Holiday Season
Love, The Shipleys

Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at 09:58 AM (CST)

Well we are back from Florida and Hannah is doing fine.
What an incredible trip it was. The Make-A-Wish foundation did an awesome job setting up this trip for us. We stayed at Give Kids the World in Kissimmee, Fl. This place is phenomenal. They give you a two bedroom villa and a mini-van and tickets to all the parks in the area and tell you to go crazy with it. The people there are wonderful and treat you like royalty.
We stayed in villa 149 while we were there, which was a two bedroom two bathroom house. They fed us breakfast and dinner at the Gingerbread house where characters from Disneyworld showed up for pictures, autographs, and fun. After every meal, Hannah rode the carousel that was right outside the door.
Every morning we got up went to breakfast, then we went to a park. We went to Magic Kingdom, MGM, Universal Studios, Downtown Disney, Daytona USA, and Daytona Beach. We all had so much fun, almost too much at times, NOT!
Hannah got to see all her favorite characters and made some new favorites along the way. Small list of favorites included: Woody, Buzz, Shaggy, Scooby Doo, Spongebob Squarepants, Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Mike & Sulley from Monsters Inc., Jimmy Neutron, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White.
It was amazing because they all took time with her because they recognized the button she was wearing and new she was on a make a wish trip. She got the white glove treatment and never had to stand in line for anything.
Hannah had a great time on the airplanes too. Everytime we took off she would count down 3,2,1 blastoff. Then she would say look how high we are about twenty times lol she was a great traveler. I will post more stories as soon as I get them organized in my head. Even though we spent 6 days there it was still a whirlwind of excitement. New pictures will be posted as well!!! More later, Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

Saturday, November 02, 2002 at 12:24 PM (CST)

Hannah is doing great!
She had a wonderful time on Halloween and dressed as a firefighter. It was a lot more fun this year.
We had a clinic visit last tuesday and everything looked good. Her creatinine was 1.2, she is due to start round 5 of Accutane this tuesday if her creatinine looks low enough.
We are excited for her trip to Disney World it is coming up in 10 days! I should be able to post new pictures after we get back.
At our clinic visit we got to see Dillon and his family, he looks good.
more later.....Mike

Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 12:01 AM (CDT)

Hannah is doing fine. Sorry it has been so long since we've updated but like I always say, no news is good news. Hannah has been having fun being a kid, it is great to have her feeling so well. She started round 4 of accutane and will have 2 more rounds to go. She has been delayed due to her kidney function but continues on getting better. We will have to go to Denver at the end of this month for a check up. Her last labs showed her creatinine at 1.0 and Bun at 32 we will monitor this as it always rises after taking accutane. We are getting excited for our trip to Disney World on the 11th of November. Hannah is excited to meet Woody and Buzz!!!
We have just been hanging out in Worland trying to get Hannah done with her treatment per protocol. She is an amazing little girl and continues to crack me up everyday. She is soo funny and is always kidding around with us and playing little tricks on me. She hides little plastic spiders and bugs all over the house, under my pillow, next to the toilet, on the couch..... She's quite a little prankster.
Our neighbors grow giant pumpkins and gave us one. When it was little I carved Hannah's name in it and it grew into it. I would say the pumpkin weighs well over 200 lbs. Hannah says she wants to climb into it and carve it. It should be fun, she loves Halloween. Prayers for all the kids, more later......Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

Wednesday, September 11, 2002 at 09:22 PM (CDT)

We are back from Denver and Hannah is doing great. Her bone and cat scan were clean so the MIBG scan that was today should come back normal as well. We are thinking that her kidneys are healing because her blood pressure is coming back to normal. We will start taking her off some of the medication she was on for hypertension because her last few blood pressures have been low. Thanks for the support and prayers....Mike,Mishelle,Hannah

Saturday, September 07, 2002 at 04:11 PM (CDT)

Hannah is doing just fine. We are in the process of getting her scans completed as well as her 6 month post transplant tests. We should know all the results next week. Hannah has been having fun being a kid. We went boating and camping over Labor Day and she had a blast in her Granpa's boat. We went to a highschool football game last night and Hannah looks forward to going again, she had fun.
After Hannah completed round 3 of Accutane her creatinine went up to 1.5 from .9 the previous week. We are continuing to monitor her kidney function and trying to get them healed up. Catch 22 because she needs the accutane and of course she needs functioning kidneys. I will keep u posted on the results when I get them.
....Mike

Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at 04:17 PM (CDT)

Hannah is doing great, hard to believe it has been a year since we started all of this. Hannah has been a real trooper and knows she will get better. Her creatinine is down to .8 which means we can start back on accutane after a month delay. Whew! We can only hope that her kidneys will continue to improve and keep her on track with her treatment. Her creatinine was .8 down from 1.8, seems to me the prednisone helped. It also helped her gain some much needed weight. She is over 40 pounds now and eating great. I think she may have missed eating for the past year and seems to really enjoy it. Well I hope all is well with everyone that reads this and we hope to see some of you when we come to Denver for clinic (Sep. 3rd tenatively). Thank you for the support, Love, Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah...and of course Merlin too!

Thursday, August 15, 2002 at 11:41 AM (CDT)

Hannah is doing great. She has been doing kid stuff and enjoying it all. Mishelle went to her 10 yr reunion in Craig last weekend and had a wonderful time. It was a good break for her and her first break in a year. We are trying to get Hannah's kidneys working good enough to continue treatment and all we can do is wait til the creatinine comes down below .9. It has been a little difficult to do all this from a long distance. Hannah's scans were delayed and we will not be back in Denver until the end of August Hopefully! She will get the scans before round 4 of Accutane and she has not yet started round 3 due to the high creatinine levels. On another note, we are moved into our own place and it is wonderful being back in Wyoming. Denver is too high paced for a country family from the sticks. We have our dog Merlin back with us and that makes Hannah very happy (Mishelle too). She is an amazing kid and makes me laugh every day. Hope all our friends are doing well and we miss you down there. Love, the Shipley's

Friday, July 26, 2002 at 11:50 AM (CDT)

Hannah is doing great. She had labs today and her kidneys look better. She started prednisone and took a week off from the accutane. Her creatinine was down to 1.0 and her bun was 33. We hope for continued improvement. Hi to Jake and Dillon we miss you guys along with your families. We will be back in Denver Aug 11-17th. Love, Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah.

Monday, July 22, 2002 at 07:21 PM (CDT)

Hannah is happy to be home in Wyoming. She feels better than she has for a long time. We are in the process of moving into a house and getting all our stuff out of my parents' garage. We should be moved in by the first of August, just in time to come back to Denver for a week of scans and tests. Hannah got her broviac removed last friday and is happy to get rid of her "tubies" she still has a mediport and will still need to have blood drawn at regular intervals. Her last gfr (kidney test) was not a good as we had hoped and she was put on steroids to try to get them healed up. cre 1.8 bun 52 gfr 19
Thanks for all the prayers and support, More later........

Clinic today, cbc looks good. We have been given the okay to pack up and go back to Wyoming. We will come to Denver once a month for clinic visits and tests. Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 11:00 AM (CDT)

Hannah was able to leave for a visit to Wyoming for the first time since she got to Denver in August. We are staying with Grandma and Grandpa Shipley in Worland. She is very excited to be here and she is having a blast. She feels better than she has in over a year. This is also Mishelle's first escape from the monotany of downtown Denver living, it is a much deserved break for her. Prayers for Dillon's recovery, he starts radiation on the 2nd of July. We also saw Jake at clinic and he looked great, prayers for his continued recovery too. Love, Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah.

Monday, June 24, 2002 at 12:00 PM (CDT)

day 110 Hannah is doing great. Her creatinine is down to 1.0 and her bun is at 12. A normal creatinine is .6-.,this means her kidneys are healing. We are being transfered to Oncology and will meet with Dr. Shulz, this means fewer visits to the clinic and the possibility of moving home soon. Thanks for the prayers and support... Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

Monday, June 17, 2002 at 11:48 AM (CDT)

Hannah is doing great today. We went to clinic and her counts looked great! She is off nystatin and she can start to go to places. We are planning a trip to the movies to see "Scooby Doo". Her creatinine is a little lower and her Bun is down too. We will continue to monitor her kidneys and may start on a steroid if the the creatinine rises again. Thank you all for the love and support. More later...Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah.

Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at 05:07 PM (CDT)

Hannah had a good birthday, and a sweet reunion with Merlin. She was heartbroken when he left, as i was myself. How wonderful it was to see him and hug him, we miss him more than words can say. Thanks to grandma and grandpa Shipley for taking such good care of him. Also uncle Ron has played a big part in taking Merlin when Guy and Wanda are away. Thank you all. Merlin is a part of the family too.

Mike is up in the Big Horn mountains with Guy, Tyler (brother), Annie (sister), and Jon (friend). He left here Saturday and will be back next Saturday. Grandma Wanda is staying with us while he away. She and Hannah are having a wonderful time together. I also am enjoying her company.:)

Thank you for all the love and support.

Mishelle

Thursday, June 06, 2002 at 03:01 PM (CDT)

Hannah is so excited for her b-day that she has trouble sleeping. Her Grandma and Grandpa Shipley are bringing Merlin (her dog) down for her birthday. She misses her "buddy boy" so much, it should be a nice reunion for her. Grandpa Ed and Granny Donna are also coming and should be here today.
We went to a kidney specialist today who told us that there really isn't anything to do for her kidneys and that they will continue to get worse and she will eventually need a transplant. Baah... what do Dr's know anyway. We will continue to pray for improvement.
Hannah did say that she would start to talk to everyone when she turns 4. For the last 10 months she has been using sign language (that she made up) and her stuffed animals in communicating with the medical staff. It will be a suprise to all tomorrow and even I wonder what she will do. I would think that she will actually talk to everyone since she has kept her word of not talking for this long.
More later, Love Mike, Hannah, and Mishelle

Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 12:00 PM (CDT)

Hannah is doing fine. Kidney function is still a problem and we hope to find a way to make them better. Other than that, we enjoy the time together and look forward to moving on. cre-1.3 bun-40

Hannah is doing great! She is maintaining a good balance without much intervention. She will start accutane on Monday. Her Uncle Tyler is coming for the weekend and she is excited. Prayers for Dillon in BMT.
Love, Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

Monday, May 20, 2002 at 05:00 PM (CDT)

Hannah drove her Barbi Jeep to clinic today. She has fun in that thing. Mike took the screw out to make it go faster, when we got back, and she did laps around the garage laughing. She likes the speed. :)
She is feeling pretty good. Excited for her birthday on the 7th. I am going to make her a "Blue's Clue's" cake. She said she wants it to be blueberry flavor. I'll have to do some looking around. :)

Hoping to start the retnoic acid soon, waiting on the docters to get it together.

Thanks for all the prayers. Please say an extra prayer for Dillon Jones, he is in bone marrow transplant.

Mishelle

Friday, May 10, 2002 at 05:02 PM (CDT)

Hannah is feeling pretty good. She enjoyed a visit from her Grandpa Ed and Granny Donna on Thursday. I think they really enjoyed her too. :)
Hannah's kidneys need some prayers for recovery. Chemo in BMT was very hard on them. Waiting for better kidney function to go on with the retinoic acid.

Thanks for all the love and prayers. Happy mothers day to all.

Mishelle

Sunday, May 05, 2002 at 11:24 PM (CDT)

Hannah's scans were clear Friday. She is growing eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair. Now to get the kidneys up to speed.
Thank you all for the prayers and support as it makes all the difference.

Wednesday, May 01, 2002 at 03:10 PM (CDT)

Hannah is doing great today. She had a bone marrow aspirate which is a couple needle pokes into her hip just above her bum. It may be sore for a couple days. She is getting some RBC's but does not need platelets. Tomorrow we will have a echo cardiogram and a hearing test to see how the BMT treated her heart and ears, then a MIBG scan on Friday to check for neuroblastoma. All routine post BMT tests.
prayers for all the kids! we have seen improvements with several of them. more later.....Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah
p.s. thank you for the continued support and prayers for Hannah and our family

Monday, April 29, 2002 at 02:53 PM (CDT)

Hannah is doing good today. She is getting a bone scan and a ct scan today. She has been doing great. Her kidney function test results showed that the BMT's chemo really pounded her kidneys. Her blood pressure is up and hopefully her kidneys will recover from the chemo. Equal and opposite reactions, one thing does good to something bad and bad to something good. We have a long way to go but at least no more chemo or radiation. 6 months of accutane taken every other 14 days, at least then we may get two weeks off to be "normal".
Prayers for all the kids...Love Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

Thursday, April 25, 2002 at 08:33 PM (CDT)

Our thoughts and prayers are for the children.
Tomorrow is the last day of radiation.
It is day +48 and all is well as can be expected.
Granpa Guy

Monday, April 22, 2002 at 11:37 AM (CDT)

Hannah is doing pretty good today. She has 5 more radiation treatments and will be done this friday. She has taken the radiation well without any side effects. The bug in her tummy came back, so it is back on the big pills along with all the little ones she has to take which totals about 20 per day. Hopefully once the radiation is done she will start to eat and that will help minimize the amount of pills that she has to swallow. She is a trooper none the less. Prayers for all the families
More later.......Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

Friday, April 19, 2002 at 10:00 AM (CDT)

Wow, time flies. Hannah is doing as well as can be expected. I have been told that she will start radiation this Thursday. While we were there last weekend Hannah said, "Can you play hide and seek with me Grandma, & Grandpa." Course it was fun, and she does quite well.
Prayers for the Cohens, and all the other children.
Thank you all.

She got some platelets today and she will start her radiation treatment next week April 9th. She is busybusy with clinic visits and other Dr appointments, I think tomorrow we will rest and play. Thursday, March 21, 2002 at 03:28 PM (CST)

Hannah got taken off the morphine drip on tuesday and the journey through the night was rough. She had pain from her bowles starting to work and move things along. Her little body hurt so bad that she would scream when the nurse took her blood presure, and it hurt her to even have her diaper changed. She did not get much sleep. Wednesay she improved some, but was still not herself. Last night she slept great and is feeeling much better today. She drank some water for the first time in 2 weeks, took her oral med., and went to the bath tub for the first time in 2 weeks. This was a Blast! Now she is playing with her Daddy, wonderful for both of them. Maybe she'll go home tomarrow? Thank you all for your love and prayers.
Check out the picture of Merlin. Mike had Grandpa Guy put it on so we could show Hannah. She misses him so much.

Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 08:10 PM (CST)

Hannah had a white count of 16.2 today! Wow! Yesterday she was at 21. She woke up happy and played with her nurse for awhile before I made it over to the hospital. Platelets held at 80 over night. Today she got to go to Brent's place for 2 hours. It was wonderful to get her out of the hospital for a short while. I'm sure she will get to go on pass tomarrow too. Docter is thinking discharge on Friday or Saturday. We'll see. She is starting to walk a bit, still very hard. She said today that she will try to swallow tomarrow. Thanks for all the support.
Mishelle & Mike

Sunday, March 17, 2002 at 03:47 PM (CST)

Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 06:49 PM (CST)

Hannah was awake for about 5 hours, watching cartoons and drew a few pictures for her friend Dillon. She got another couple of bloody noses again today. Yesterday was almost bloody nose free. She has received platelets twice today. Trying to keep her platelet count above 50. Day +7 today, hopefully her counts will be on the move soon. Waiting is hard. Thank you all for the support. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to hear from all of you. Thank you for remembering Hannah in your prayers.

Monday, March 11, 2002 at 09:28 PM (CST)

Hannah had a pretty good day today. She had a rough night and we are trying to get her nose in better shape. It didn't bleed all day today so we will keep our fingers crossed. She continues to have fevers, but when her counts start to come back they should diminish. Today is +5 and it will take time for her body to heal. I want to thank all of those who have visited this site with all my heart. It is wonderful to hear from so many and to have such great support and prayers. Thank You all....Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

Wednesday, March 06, 2002 at 02:25 PM (CST)

Hannah received her stem cells today by a transfusion of less than 50 cc's. It is amazing that these cells will find their way into her bones and grow new marrow. The chemo has caused her mouth to be really sore and makes it difficult to swallow, but she is hanging in there. Now we just wait and pray that her counts come back up and that she doesn't get a serious infection. Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.......more later Mike
p.s. Mishelle is doing a wonderful job!

Tuesday, March 05, 2002 at 05:34 PM (CST)

Hi all, Hannah is hanging in there. Hopefully today they will take the N/G tube out of her nose, it really seems to be bothering her. She hasn't said too much to us lately but I know it is the way she is coping with this. I think once some of the tubes come out she will be back to her old self and talking to Mommy and Daddy along with a couple other lucky ones :) (just a little more time Margaret) I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers, we have received so much and believe me it has help considerably. Love Mike, Mishelle, and Hannah

What a busy time of year. Sorry I have not updated the page. Andrea, Wanda and I went to Denver and had a wonderful time. Hannah was a ball of fire and tired everyone. What fun. A special thanks to Erica and TCH for the room at the Hyatt, it made it fun to play for Hannah, (and all of us).

Hannah's platelets are too low for admission today and she is now receiving a transfusion of platelets. We will come back in on monday to see if her platelets are high enough. If they have dropped again, they will do a bone marrow aspirate and make a smear to see what is going on with her platelet production. She was at 11 today and was 26 last tuesday, she needs to be at or above 75 in order to be admitted. A prayer or two may be in order....Thanks, Mike

Thursday, November 29, 2001 at 05:25 PM (CST)

Hanging out and hanging in and hanging on.
Hannah is doing well and is expected to be admitted tomorrow if counts are up. It has been great to have this time together as a family. Nice pictures G-Pa! more later......Mike

Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at 09:40 PM (CST)

More time is needed to get the blood counts just right, so we wait some more.
Hannah is to take the week off and go back Friday to check. Thankyou, everyone for prayers and support.

Had a wonderful time with Hannah, mommy, and daddy in Denver this Thanksgiving. Hannah is still delayed with low counts, she goes in Tuesday, then we'll see. But she is feeling quite well and gave big hugs to Grandma and Grandpa, WOW.

Tuesday, November 20, 2001 at 03:36 PM (CST)

Clinic appointment today and all is well. Just have to wait for her counts to come up before round 5 will begin. We went to monsters Inc. last night and Hannah loved it. It was her first movie experience and all she could say was "that was a big, big, tv" It was fun......more later Mike, Hannah, and Mishelle

Monday, November 19, 2001 at 06:44 PM (CST)

Hannah's counts are too low to begin tomorrow. She had to have platlettes today and must be stable for 48 hours before beginning the next chemotherapy. So for now the Shipley's are enjoying the warmth of "Ronnies" house.

Hannah remains in the hospital, but seems to be improving day by day. She called last night and said, "Granpa, when I get my Barbie jeep you can't drive it because you are too big!" We continue our prayers.
Once again I thank everyone for your support and prayers. We are blessed by those around us.
God bless

The fever broke! Hannah wants to go for a ride in the wagon. We continue to pray.

Friday, November 09, 2001 at 10:59 AM (CST)

Hannah had a rough night and was up a lot throwing up. She got a fever this morning of 39.7 and we are now going to admit her to the hospital so she can get some antibiotics. This is to be expected but we like it when she doesn't get a fever. She is tough and she took her tylenol like a champ. More later...Mike

Thursday, November 08, 2001 at 11:35 AM (CST)

Hannah hasn't felt too good today and she will get some platelets. Her count was 10 and that is pretty low. No nosebleeds but she is at risk for those anytime she is below 25. Her mouth sores are not as bad, I think the glutamine helped out quite a bit. We are going to get her platelets boosted up as well as her fluid levels in order to get through the weekend, it is never a joy to come to the emergency room here on a weekend and we try to avoid it if possible. More later.......love Mike, Hannah, and Mishelle

Tuesday, November 06, 2001 at 09:01 PM (CST)

Hannah is doing ok, not feeling so well but it is to be expected. She always declines after Chemo. We continue to hope and pray. Mike and Mishelle only seem to get stronger, wow.

Hannah called on the phone yesterday from "Ronnies" house. She is doing extremely well at the moment! She has completed round four and we anticipate November 20,2001 for round five after which they will perform surgery to remove the origional tumor, then continue to round six. We continue to pray.

Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at 03:37 PM (CST)

Hannah is doing great, last night she dressed up as woody from toy story it was fun. She got a little sick this morning but the anti-nausea medicine is magic. She is still trying to eat a little bit and they are talking about cutting her IV nutrition in half. This should bring her appetite back up. We just hope the mouth sores don't come knocking on the door to hard this time, it can be the worst thing about getting chemo. Mishelle is nothing but the best Mommy in the world, I don't know how I would endure without her. More later...Mike
p.s. thank you to all for your prayers and support

Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at 12:46 PM (CST)

We are in room 555 and will start round 4 today. Hannah is doing very well. She gets really shy and doesn't talk much when she is in the hospital but I don't blame her. The past two weeks have been wonderful and it gave us time to regroup and get ready for another stay at the hospital. More later...Mike, Hannah, and Mishelle.

Monday, October 29, 2001 at 12:56 PM (CST)

Today Hannah's counts are up high enough to be admitted. We will go in tomorrow to start round 4. We had to wait for her platelets to get above 75 and today they were 88. She has been nothing but the greatest little girl this past week. She is so full of energy and it will be hard to admit her back into the hospital but, every round continues to make her better. Thanks for the continued support...love Hannah, Mishelle, and Mike.

Sunday, October 28, 2001 at 12:58 PM (CST)

Sorry Hannah, the big one got away! But I did catch a couple of nice ones. (Bigger than Tyler's) Tyler got the first, we tied for the most.
I must go to Casper until Wednesday evening, so bear with me on the updates. Hannah will start the next round Monday depending on the counts.
Love and prayers be with you all.

So I must go to Otter Cr. today at 1:00 PM with Ty for the first, most, and biggest!
MUST, hmm, I call this therapy fishing! Beautiful day with a 29.98 falling barameter, light breeze, warming temperature, (60) and the snow caps @ 8,000 ft. and holding. Big Wonderful Wyoming. I want a chance for Gary's diving, snagging, jumping, slapping, motengator, brown monster 5 pounder! Will get em for you hannah!

To all a good day, prayers for Hannah.
And Jake.
And Becky.

Hannah is doing good today. We are getting another cbc to see if her platelets are on the rise. We will enjoy the time out of the hospital. More later....Mike

Thursday, October 25, 2001 at 10:55 PM (CDT)

Platlettes too low
chemo a no go,
so now we test day by day
and to Jesus we continue to pray.

Annie called with a career move
this pleases me, she is quite smooth.
By the light of day and the moon at night,
Hannah is going to be alright.

Wanda says when Hannah sees the life flight,
perched on the hospital to her right,
she prays for the children not to fright,
every thing is going to be all right.

So rest now for another good day,
lay us down and let us pray,
sleep will come, sun will shine,
Mike, Mishelle and Hannah will be fine.

Monday, October 22, 2001 at 04:17 PM (CDT)

Wanda and Ron (Wanda's brother) are going to Denver tomorrow, and if things go right they are taking Merlin with them. Hannah said, "Would you bring my dog grandma?", well what is a mother to do? They are coming back to Worland Thursday.

Goodness sakes alive, a 28 minute nose bleed is about enough. Glad to hear Sunday's platlettes helped. Sorry about the tough one getting a cold, Mishelle.

For now,
Grandpa Guy

Saturday, October 20, 2001 at 10:52 PM (CDT)

We are praying for those counts to go up, and the bloody noses to go down. Sorry Hannah missed the the park today.
Bailey was here, wouldn't talk on the phone, she is so busy. Maybe tomorrow night since she is staying with Granma and Grandpa for the night Sunday!!
Thanking everyone, and thinking of everyone, you are so much help.

Friday, October 19, 2001 at 11:48 AM (CDT)

Hannah is doing very well today. We are waiting for her cbc to come back and I figure we will need rbc's and platelets today. She is having fun with her Granpa Ed and is taking a wagon ride with him as we speak. She is starting to eat better and had a huge plate of spaghetti last night. Mike
p.s. thanks for all the support.

Thursday, October 18, 2001 at 10:08 PM (CDT)

Monday, October 15, 2001 at 03:28 PM (CDT)

Hannah is getting platelets and blood today and we made it through the weekend without any troubles. She has been doing very well and with the xtra blood she should be bouncing off the walls once again. Her white count is on the rise and she has not had any fevers. This will allow us to have more time out of the hospital, which is always nice! More later...Mike

Sunday, October 14, 2001 at 11:17 AM (CDT)

Hannah recieved platlettes on Friday, as her counts are falling. She has had some nosebleeds and her voice has diminished once again. We expect to need blood in the near future and hope everyone has a good weekend at "Ronnies house".

Meanwhile Wanda and I continue to thank everyone for your continued support and prayers. Without your help our hearts would be much weaker, so I can only say THANK YOU.

Grandpa Guy

Friday, October 12, 2001 at 06:37 PM (CDT)

Gracious sakes, I have been out of contact. So we go on the "no news is good news" program. Reading through the guest book reminds me to thank all of you for your "GRACIOUS" support and prayers as we can all feel the goodness that is coming to us.
THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS

Tuesday, October 09, 2001 at 12:18 PM (CDT)

We got out of the hospital on Monday after round 3 of chemo. Hannah has responded well, but with this round she has experienced severe nausea and does not sleep well at night. She is happy to be back in the Ronald McDonald house and improves every hour. She is such a strong willed little girl and continues to fight. She amazes me with all the knowledge she has accumulated throughout this ordeal. She knows the names of most of the medicines she takes and knows the procedures. She is a smart one! Keep the prayers coming the support is wonderful and can be felt.

Sunday, October 07, 2001 at 09:22 PM (CDT)

Hannah has completed round three, and is a little green around the edges. She went for a walk today and her voice is coming back and she looks like a million dollars. It was good to see her doing better, but this chemo is very difficult.

Wanda and I made it down and back without incident. Only 980 miles, whew.

Our prayers ride with Hannah, Mike and Mishelle. Every good day is a new day!

Saturday, October 06, 2001 at 01:50 PM (CDT)

Grandma and Grandpa made to Denver to visit for the weekend. Hannah was excited to see them and has been getting through round three of chemo without complication. She has been playing and showing all the Dr's and nurses her toys. She will complete round three of chemo on sunday night and we will go from there. Mike

Thursday, October 04, 2001 at 11:27 PM (CDT)

Hannah is feeling pretty spunky. Hmm, must be the snow, oil well, it will be a fun drive!! She is in room 544 for the third treatment of chemo. WE WILL SEE HER TOMORROW!

Grandpa Guy

Wednesday, October 03, 2001 at 11:42 PM (CDT)

Yup we are headed for Denver this Friday for the weekend. Hannah is to start round three of chemotherapy Friday.

I want to thank everyone for your support and prayers. It means more to us than you will ever know!! It is a wonderful feeling for us and we can feel the power, like a guardian angel helping us through this. The Denver Children's Hospital is a powerful place with the best care and Doctors in the world. Dr. Stork is aces.

Hannah came through the stem cell harvest with ease, of course Mommy and Daddy helped her the whole time.
"Grandpa Guy"

Tuesday, October 02, 2001 at 04:54 PM (CDT)

Today is Tuesday and we have finished the stem cell harvest. Hannah's blood counts were beyond Dr.'s expectations and finished ahead of schedule. She received some red blood cells due to the harvesting procedure just to make sure her hemoglobin will continue to rise. This will make her stronger and able to take on round three of chemotherapy, which will begin on thursday. Until then, we will take each day being blessed with all the support of everyone and we thank you all. I will keep a posting when time is available. --Mike

Monday, October 01, 2001 at 09:23 PM (CDT)

Hannah is responding, the tumors have cleared in the lungs.

We can feel the power in the prayers and hope and pray for Hannah every day!

Mike and Mishelle are having the biggest trial of there life and need much support. They are so strong for Hannah and I wish there were more we could do for them. They are a wonderful team, unlike anything or anybody I have ever seen. So I will continue to pray for Hannah's team. Give them strength GOD, they surely have our support.
Dad, Mom, Andrea, and Tyler

Sunday, September 30, 2001 at 09:30 PM (CDT)

If all goes well we begin the stem cell harvest as soon as tomorrow, Monday. No other news for the moment.

Saturday, September 29, 2001 at 10:32 AM (CDT)

Hannah's counts continue to improve.

Thursday, September 27, 2001 at 04:11 PM (CDT)

Hannah is getting a catheter placed into the abcess today in order to drain it. This may be the cause of the fevers and will eliminate another possible cause of them. We hope to find out what is causing them and the Dr's are optimistic about curing any infection she may have. She is doing better today and played some games with me and Mishelle and smiled and laughed. Specially at the card she received that had a picture of a puppy with sunglasses on! More to come later...

Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 10:56 PM (CDT)

I meant absess in her stomach, not growth.

Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 10:48 PM (CDT)

Check the photo album!!

Wednesday, September 26, 2001 at 10:33 PM (CDT)

Hannah seems to have a growth in her stomach. Tomorrow they are to drain it and biopsy. Her blood continues to improve, tho she has infection which is probably coming from the stomach problem. Mike said he saw the scans and the tumors appear to be gone from the lungs and other reductions! She did ask to call and talk to her cousin Bailey today, and of course this is very encouraging. Grandmother is watching Bailey during the day as she broke her collar bone during the Devon picnic Saturday on the park swings.
I will try to get some pictures uploaded tomorrow. I have some precious ones but seem to be lacking time and ENERGY, so please bear with me.

Monday, September 24, 2001 at 10:53 AM (CDT)

Blood counts are rising after platelettes. We still have occasional fever and are limiting visitors. Until later.

Saturday, September 22, 2001 at 09:49 PM (CDT)

Hannah was admitted 8/17/01 and is recieving treatment for neuro blasoma. Hannah is back in the hospital 9/21/01 for platlettes and blood as her counts are low from the second chemotherapy. She recieved blood later 9/22/01 after her favorite nurse came on night shift, (Jon). We pray for her every day.
