Journal
Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 10:32 PM (CST) The day is here, November 6, 2002, two years to the day that Mark was diagnosed with Liver Cancer (Hepatoblastoma - Stage III) at the age of three. Mark is now five (9/24/02) and he is doing great.
Thank you God for your miracle. Thank you family and friends for your love and support through all this. Thank you Dr. Atkinson for your blessed surgical hands. Thank you Dr. Marcio (Mark's Oncologist) for your skilled expertise (and humor). Thank you Childrens' Hospital - Los Angeles nursing staff for trying to make the worst days in my Son's life almost bearable (the cake and singing on the last day of the last round of chemo). Thank you radiologists for reading Mark's x-rays right away and giving him gum during every MRI (and showing him on his x-ray where the gum was when he swallowed it). Thank you to Mark's awesome home care nurse for getting us through some tough times and kind words of support. Thank you to Mark's pediatricians for finding the tumor and getting us into Childrens' Hospital that SAME day. And for every one I have neglected to thank, THANK YOU!!!!
Our oncologist informed us to remain "cautiously optimistic" until at least two years from diagnosis. That day is here and it is time to look forward with optimism. Time to stop fearing that the rug will be pulled out from under us.
Thank you God for the miracle of Mark.
We say every night before bed "Thank you for the day, God." The significance of those words are indescribable.
Happy Thanksgiving to all,
The Galanti Family
