Dear friends

ABI is fighting very hard to remain here with us, she refuses to give up. This cancer is very agressive and is rapidly spreading causing great pains at times.
The Doctors have increased her medication to relieve the pain and give comfort which allows ABI to fall asleep.

When ABI is feeling ok she demands her rides in her wagon, maybe a couple of laps or up to 50 laps around the floor. This is one of the best quality times ABI has left in her last few days.

Please pray for complete comfort and peace for little ABI.

GOD BLESS YOU
Bobby

Good Morming

ABI is doing well but a few complications are keeping her from coming home from the hospital.

Scoobie Doo recently came by to visit ABI and Lisa Foranda came by as well bringing ABI a MINNIE MOUSE hat and a couple a t-shirts and then played a Scoobie Doo interactive game, boy was it tough to figure out.

ABI enjoys visiters coming by but she mostly gets excited by the cards people send. If you have an opportunity, please send a card or maybe a picture of one of your pets, ABI will enjoy it immensely.

We need your prayers for the comfort of ABI.

GOD BLESS YOU
Bobby

ABI UP-DATE

ABI has been very busy the past few weeks. Mrs Galloway invited ABI to come to her ranch for a weekend stay. What a time ABI had, fishing, riding in the wheelbarrow limo and seeing the many farm animals. The next week ABI was the Captain of a large yacht in Clear Lake. Following that, ABI went to the Boardwalk in Kemah and rode all the rides and played most all the games.

Last week ABI went back into the hospital , a slight infection appeared and ABI was treated and the infection was cleared. Unfortunately the infection came back a couple of days ago and ABI will now remain in the hospital until the infection is cleared up.

Please continue your prayers
thanks
Bobby

GOOD MORNING

ABI is feeling very well and has an enormous amount of energy. She is enjoying every day to it's fullest.

Last week was full of excitement, ABI recieved some new jewelry, went to the BEAUTY and the BEAST PLAY and even had the opportunity to meet BELLE and the BEAST after the play was over, went over to grandma's house and rode the 4 wheeler and then yesterday went to the movies and saw SCOOBY DO'S ADVENTURE.

ABI has recieved many cards and is always excited to open them, please keepum coming.

This morning I recieved some very sad news, one of my employee's niece (REBBECCA ALEMAN age 14) has been missing since monday evening. REBBECCA was last seen at the ABUNDANT LIFE CHURCH located at SPACE CENTER BLVD @ CLEAR LAKE CITY BLVD in CLEAR LAKE CITY.

Please pray and ask OUR HEAVENLY FATHER to return this child to her family safe and unharmed.

We need continued prayer for ABI to keep her free of pain and discomfort.

GOD BLESS ALL
Bobby

ABI UP-DATE

ABI was able to come home on tuesday morning and is feeling well.

She was so excited to come home and get back to a normal routine of playing with her toys and best friend ELMO.

On wednesday ABI wanted to go for a car ride so we could play some music and sing songs. We even played the PET STORE count down game. When I would take ABI to school, we would start counting to ten just before the overpass at LEAUGE CITY and then as soon as we would get infront of the pet store ABI would yell to the top of her voice"PEEET STORRRE. This is the store we purchased ELMO from.

ABI told me she was so glad to be back home and away from the hospital. She will now rest and have the opportunity to just be herself.

Please continue to pray and send your blessings upon her.

thanks
BOBBY

ABI UP-DATE

GOOD AFTERNOON

ABI has had a remarkable past week and may get to go home very soon.

Last saturday ABI recieved a new red wagon with a lower compartment and a cup holder for 2 drinks. She loves to go for rides in the hallway talking to anyone who walks by, everyone up there knows ABI.

On sunday ABI was able to get an all day pass and went to a friends home for the day.

ABI is recieving some cards in the mail and loves to open them. She mostly enjoys the pictures of animals as well as stick on labels.

ABI also had her cousin ANGIE and friend STEVE come by to play music. ANGIE was also able to play some music for the BONE MARROW UNIT.

We should know within the next few days if ABI can come home.

KEEP THE CARDS COMING AND CONTINUE YOUR PRAYERS

thanks

ABI is doing well and yesterday, ABI had a very remarkable day. She wanted to get out of bed and stroll around in her wagon and even had an opportunity to go outside and see the luncheon TEXAS CHILDRENS was having for their employees.

On wednesday, LISA FORONDA AND MICHELLE from channel 11 came by to see ABI for about an hour. Both LISA and MICHELLE brought ABI a BARBIE DOLL an ANGEL BEAR a channel 11 t-shirt a reporters tablet/pen and even made ABI an honorary NEWS REPORTER.

LISA showed ABI pictures of her family and
loving dogs. ABI loved the dogs because they reminded her of ELMO (ABI'S dog).
LISA told ABI she(LISA) was going to DISNEY WORLD on vacation and would bring back some DISNEY toys for ABI to play with.

Thanks LISA and MICHELLE for spending time with our ANGEL ABI.

FRIENDS & FAMILY
PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR PRAYERS FOR COMFORT AND PEACE FOR ABI.

ABI UP-DATE

SEE NEW PHOTO'S

PATTI and I met with the DOCTORS on friday, and the news was that ABI has a very short time left to survive.

Our main concern is to keep ABI as comfortable as possible and possibly meet any request she may have for FUN DAYS.

A week ago ABI wanted yo see MARY LOU RETTON, so a couple a phone calls later, here comes MARY LOU and her HUSBAND to visit for about an hour. MARY LOU 8 months pregnant showed ABI how easy it was to do cartwheels in the hallway. What a time ABI
had, strolling the hallways, painting MARY LOU'S nails and talking about MARY LOU'S, FLIP FLOP SHOP PROGRAM.( THANKS MARY LOU, FOR UNSELFISHLY SPENDING SOME TIME WITH OUR LITTLE ABI.)

My company has issued a request for LISA FORONDA from CHANNEL 11 to come by as well. ABI talks about how wonderful LISA'A hair is and has mentioned many times how she wanted her own hair to grow back just as long.(Additional phone calls may expedite LISA'S visit)

ABI'S greatest desire was to be able to go to DISNEY LAND this year, through the MAKE A WISH PROGRAM.

ABI loves mail so one of the things we would like to request is to send ABI, HAPPY CARDS, just something to make her smile.
send to: ABI C/O AMERAFLEX

We still believe a miracle is possible to beat this cancer, please continue your prayers

ABI UP-DATE

ABI was released from the hospital on FEB 14
after a successful 2nd BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT, using her own CORD BLOOD MARROW.
All of ABI'S counts were back to a normal condition and she was able to due most any activity she desired.

On MAR 27 ABI enjoyed her 6th birthday at FRENCHIE'S RESTAURANT (HER MOST FAVORITE SPOT)and recieved 2 car loads of presents.

Last month ABI'S cancer came back, exactly in the same spot where her first tumor was removed. We immediatly started radiation for a week then ABI began to experience severe pains in her left leg. Scans indicated 2 new spots on the leg.

ABI is now in the hospital resting and the DOCTORS are keeping her as free of pain as possible. As of today we have no idea as to what the DOCTORS can do to beat this cancer.

ABI needs as many prayers as possible to overcome this dreaded sickness. ASK GOD to deliver a mirracle to our little ANGEL.

GOD BLESS ALL

ABI-UPDATE

ABI is recovering from her BMT extremely well. We had a bad spell a few weeks ago, but with the help of her brother's white blood-cells (transfusion), ABI has bounced back remarkably.
ABI is starting to eat a few more foods and continues to gain more strenght each day. We expect to be in the hospital for another 30 days before ABI can go home.
It is still too soon to determine if the BMT was a success.
Thank you so much for all the prayers

DEAR FRIENDS

Yesterday, I recieved some bad news that one of my long time friends son had been shot in the head on Saturday morning here in Houston. He is listed in critical condition at BEN TAUB HOSPITAL right down the block from ABI'S hospital.
Please take a few extra moments and ask GOD to heal this young man and provide spiritual guidance for his family.
His mom has worked with me for over 20 years and his little girl is abi's age.

ABI had surgery Sunday morning to replace her central tube lines, everything went very well and she slept most of the day.
The staff infection is still hanging on and this seems to be the only major set back so far with the BMT.
It will be one year to date on WEDNESDAY that we first took ABI into TEXAS CHILDRENS
HOSPITAL for the cancer diagnosis.

Thank you so much for all the prayers and support.

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR

ABI UP-DATE

It has been a little more than 2 weeks since ABI'S BMT and the progress is still unknown for any positive details.
On friday the 14th ABI began to have a slight cough and by tuesday the 18th ABI had a very high fever, so the DOCTORS ran blood tests and determined that she had a staff infection possibly caused by either her lip sores or the central tube lines that are permantly attatched to the upper left side of her chest.
On monday the 24th the DOCTORS decided to remove the central line, for they felt this was/is the source of the infection, we should have a possitive answer this week.
After the surgery and in the recovery room we noticed ABI chewing on something and to our surprize was ABI'S bottom front tooth.
This was her first tooth to come out so it is very special, ABI thought is was worth $10.00 (ABI will take the highest bid).
SANTA was very good to ABI, he left a purple bicycle, a BARBI jeep, BARBI dolls,
and many other toys.
We want to thank everyone for the many kind gifts and food provided and a special thanks
to the the PAPPAS family for the shrimp dinner.
ABI is very ill and prone to catch any sickness, please contact PATTI or myself before attempting to come by the hospital for visitation
PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR PRAYERS
thanks

GOOD EVENING

ABI began her BMT at noon today which only took a few minutes to administer. Everything went as well as could be expected
and DR Stone was very pleased that ABI handled the procedure without becoming sick.
ABI took a 2 hour nap, then wanted to eat a little food and play on her computer.
ABI will now rest and stay in the hospital for about 8 to 10 weeks, if her blood counts start to become normal she can then come home.
ABI'S room is all decorated for Christmas and SANTA came by to get her wish list.
ABI will need to have blood and platelet transfusions during her stay at the hospital, your donations are much needed and have and always will be appreciated.
Thank you for your many prayers

ABI UP-DATE

ABI went through her 3 days of chemo with little to no problems. She is still uncomfortable at being back at the hospital as anyone of us would be. Her appetite is slow to start but on Sunday I took her some mexican food from GRINGOS and she practically ate the entire serving, tonite I
brought her some shrimp from KELLYS and she refused to eat it because it did not come from PAPAS.
Tommorrow, ABI will have her BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT sometime in the morning.
Please pray, for GOD to use ABI'S cord blood to heal her from this cancer, ABI may not have another opportunity to go through a third BMT.
We will up-date tommorrow on the progress.

thanks

ABI UPDATE

MERRY CHRISTMAS

ABI will be going into the hospital this afternoon to begin her second BONE MARROW
TRANSPLANT. The chemo treatment will start on THURSDAY thru SUNDAY (each treatment lasts several hours), ABI will then rest a few days before the BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT will take place.
This BMT will be very hard on ABI due to the fact that she has never fully recovered
from the first BMT and her blood counts are very questionable as to whether the BMT should take place, but for ABI to have a chance to live she must go through this procedure again.
ABI will remain in the hospital for 6-8 weeks after the BMT takes place then she will remain at home for another 90-120 days.
ABI has a very strong will to beat this cancer, even though her counts show very little progress, one would never know there is a problem with her. ABI is eating more food than in the past, she even tells us she is hungary (something we thought we would never hear) it's very exciting to see her eat.
ABI is looking forward to having SANTA bring her a purple bicycle with a bell and basket for CHRISTMAS. I asked her why she wanted a basket and the reply was,so she could put ELMO (OUR DOG) inside of it.
ABI beleives she can put ELMO inside the basket like DORTHY put TOTO on the WIZARD of OZ. I think SANTA recieved ABI'S e-mail about the bike and should be delivered on CHRISTMAS DAY.(WATCH OUT ELMO)
ABI needs more prayers than ever before, this time we need a miracle sent down from
OUR LORD for ABI to survive.
WE will update every few days while ABI is going through this treatment

GOD BLESS YOU & HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS
the ROLANDS

ABI UP-DATE

ABI is at home doing well. Since our last up-date, ABI was unable to under-go her scheduled second BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT.
Unfortunately the TRANSPLANT was not as successful as we had planned. ABI must recieve very frequent BLOOD & PLATELET transfusions to keep her body counts normal.
The DOCTORS are telling us two possibilities,1)IF ABI'S COUNTS START TO REPLENISH ON A NORMAL PATTERN WITHOUT TRANSFUSIONS THE NEXT BMT WOULD BE AROUND THE FIRST OF 2002.2)IF ABI'S CONDITION REMAINS THE SAME WITHOUT ADVANCEMENT SHE COULD NOT HANDLE A SECOND BMT.

Two weeks ago ABI started taking a pill named RETNOIC ACID (up to 6 times a day) which
should prevent any new cancer growths.

Both DR. KRANCE & DR. RUSSELL have agreed that is ok for ABI to have a little more freedom to go out in public or have friends
come by and visit with conditional guidelines.

Looking at ABI, one could not tell she is very sick. She has a very great attitude, always ready to play, eager to learn anything
presented to her but mostly,ABI never gives up.

MS CAROL,(ABI'S daily caregiver) is to be
praised for all the HOURS devoted to ABI'S
needs and learning experiences. ABI can sing
5 different songs in SPANISH and knows many
many words and phrases.
MOSTLY, MS CAROL is the driving success in ABI'S everyday lifestyle. SHE is the most un-selfish and caring individual any family could ask for outside of being a family member. SHE is truely a BLESSING sent from GOD.

We will up-date on any changes

thanks
BOBBY

GOOD AFTERNOON

PATTI and I want to thank every single person out there who has prayed or taken time out to
respond to the WEB SITE with the kind thoughts and messages to cure ABI of this dreaded cancer.
ABI starts her second stage of chemo for the BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT on tuesday.
SHE will go to the hospital on monday start the chemo treatment tuesday for 7 straight days, on the 9th day the BMT will take place.
This second BMT will be much more difficult
than the first due to many factors.ABI will be in the hospital for approx. 10weeks if everything goes well.
The DOCTORS are optimistic about the treatment but can't guarantee ABI will be cured of the cancer.
We need prayer for the DOCTORS to make the right choice on the chemo medicine and especially for ABI to be healed of this cancer.
ABI has battled very hard over the last 8 months and we expect she will do as well over the next few months.
YOUR PRAYERS ARE NEEDED
thanks

DEAR FRIENDS

I'm very sorry for not keeping up the up-dates on ABI'S progress over the past 7 weeks, but with the transplant taking place
and then my company taking on a foot of water with literally everything damaged, it's been a rough ride.
I finally received my new computer today after 7 weeks due to the fact we lost every computer in the company.
ABI had 7 days of chemo before the BONE MARROW TRANS, the TRANS is nothing more than a transfusion that lasted only 20 minutes. ABI did very well the first week but problems worstened for 4 weeks then progression started it's way back and the last 2 weeks have been very positive to the point that ABI was able to come home FRIDAY NIGHT.
ABI will get to stay home for the next few weeks or until her BLOOD LEVEL counts are back to normal, then ABI will go for her second BONE MARROW TRANS.
WE are thankful for each and every prayer but the most important focus should be for ABI to eat again, she just doesn't seem to be hungary at all. She has kept most of her weight on, but at one point she was on her TPN 24 hours a day.
Last week ABI had another surgery to replace her direct lines as well as another BONE MARROW ASPIRATION, we should get the results back this week to determine if their is any cancer in the BONE MARROW, the DOCS think it should be clean.
ABI is an exteme fighter and so far most everything has come along as well as expected.
ABI has one more obstacle ahead before her life can get back to somewhat of a normal life(HOME LIFE VS HOSPITAL LIFE).
Please pray for the next up-coming BMT with a better than last time recovery and the urge for ABI'S appetite to return.

thank you
BOBBY

DEAR FRIENDS

ABI HAS BEEN DOING VERY WELL SINCE THE SURGERY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. HER RECOVERY TIME WAS ABOVE NORMAL WITH ONLY SPENDING 6
DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL.
THE DOCTORS REMOVED 100% OF THE TUMOR AND A FEW LYMPTH GLANDS THAT WERE QUESTIONABLE BUT OVERALL NO TUMOR REMAINS.
THE DOCTORS ALSO REMOVED SOME BONE MARROW TO TEST FOR CANCER CELLS AND THE TESTS CAME BACK FROM THE LAB STATING 15 CANCER CELL ARE
STILL IN HER BONE MARROW BUT ARE PROBABLY
VERY DORMANT DUE TO CHEMO TREATMENTS.
ABI STARTS A VERY VERY STRONG CHEMO TREATMENT THAT WILL BE ADMINISTERED FOR 7 DAYS STARTING TUESDAY (6/11/01) AND ON THE FINAL DAY OF CHEMO THE BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT (BMT) WILL TAKE PLACE.
ABI WILL BE IN THE BONE MARROW RECOVERY WARD OF THE HOSPITAL FOR APPROX 5-6 WEEKS BEFORE SHE CAN COME HOME THEN ANOTHER (BMT) WILL START AGAIN BUT THE BONE MARROW ADMINISTERED THIS TIME WILL BE FROM HER CORD BLOOD THAT IS TOTALLY CANCER FREE.
MANY PRAYERS WILL BE NEEDED TO SEE ABI THROUGH THESE UP-COMING CRUCIAL MONTHS FOR A COMPLETE RECOVERY.
ABI WILL MOST LIKELY NEED SEVERAL BLOOD AND PLATELET TRANSFUSIONS, CONTACT PATTI @ 281-960-0125 OR JENIFFER @ 281-476-8500 IF YOU CAN DONATE.
THANK YOU FOR THE MANY BLESSED PRAYERS FOR ABI.

DEAR FRIENDS

The past 2 weeks have been very good for ABI. Yesterday ABI had a BONE MARROW test done and the results came back today and no cancer was visible but a test will be done at a lab in california to positively confirm
the results, this is very good news.
Tomorrow morning ABI will have her surgery
to remove the tumor. Her spirits are extremely high and she understands the purpose of this procedure. The surgery can take many hours because the DOCTORS must remove any and all dead tissue around the tumor.
We didn't have alot of notice that the surgery would be tomorrow so please accept this sudden update.
The next few months will be very hard on ABI
so please contact as many friends as possible to pray for a successful removal of the tumor and up-coming bone marrow transplants.
There is a great possibility that ABI will need a number of BLOOD transfussions over the next few months, your donation will be very much appreciated.
THANKS to everyone for the continued support ,thoughts and prayers.

GOOD AFTERNOON

Dear family and friends, its been sometime since we have up-dated the site but keep in mind that ABI has been in the hospital for almost 5 weeks straight. ABI had her 5th chemo almost 2 weeks ago and as soon as the DOCTORS can extract her stem cells she will be ready for the tumor surgery.
The surgery will take many hours to totally remove and again ABI will stay in the hospital for a number of weeks.
The stays at the hospital are extremly draining for ABI but being the little trooper she is and by the grace of GOD, ABI
comes through. I personally want to thank MS
CAROL for all the time given to stay with ABI.
With the surgery coming up we may need the help from our A+ DONORS FOR BLOOD AND PLATELET SUPPLIES. Please contact JENIFFER at my office #281-476-8500 if you can help.
We promise to keep everyone informed
on a regular basis from now on.

Dear Friends,
Abi came back to the hospital on her Birthday (March 27th) and she is still here.
Hopefully she will complete her bloodwork for her bone marrow workup by Tuesday and the go straight into her 5th round of Chemo. She was unhooked from all her IV fluids on Saturday and Sunday afternoon they restarted her fluids again. I am hopeful that this chemo goes better than the last - she has only spent one night at home since round four. She is really missing her friends at the Galloway School and I plan on letting her call the school to talk today. I am typing from the nurses station and they are ready to use this station so I have to sign off for now. Thanks for all your prayers and kind support.
God Bless You,
Patti

Dear Friends,
We are still here in the Hospital and Abi's counts are just not wanting to budge. She will receive another platlet transfusion tomorrow. Please pour on the prayers for Abi we really do need your help.
Ms. Carol worked with her today as she played on her lap top and I went to the office. She ate 1/4 of a ham and cheese sandwich today ( the first real food she has eaten in about a week and a half ).
God Bless,
Patti

Dear Friends,
Abi is still in the hospital. The cumulative effect of chemotherapy is starting to take a toll on her and she is not bouncing back after the treatments like she did at the beginning. Her white blood counts are still low and her ANC continues to sit at 0. She got a blood and a platlet transfusion the day of surgery(Thursday) and her counts have dropped again. Tonight she will get another blood transfusion and she will receive platlets that Dawson gave on Friday afternoon. He gave platlets twice while he was home this week and I am so glad because Abi needed both units. He is on his way back to school and we are really going to miss him. He was a tremendous help while he was here on Spring Break and Abi cherished every minute she had him with her. Abi is helping pass the time each day on her new lap top and really is doing a fantastic job with her words and numbers. I am looking forward to her coming home soon and getting alittle bit more of a normal routine going again. I again wish to say Thank YOU for all your prayers - we need to keep asking God to bless Abi so that she can recover from this cancer and be a true testimony to His love.

Keep Praying,
Patti

Dear Friends,
Yesterday was Abi's 5th Birthday. We had a great time even though we were in the hospital. Abi got to call her friends at the Galloway School and talk, talk, talk to everybody. Many friends came up to the hospital that night and we had a party complete with two cakes, balloons and many wonderful presents. The show stopper for the evening was when Renee and Mike arrived with a special gift from 36 VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE in and around the Real Estate community and also friends and clients. The big surprise was a top notch lap top computer with many many educational games and movies. I can't begin to tell you how excited Abi and all of us were over this wonderful gift. Today the computer ran from 9 to 3 non stop and then again from 7 to 9. Abi was spelling and making stories with help from Dawson and really did enjoy herself even though she was not feeling too well as her counts continued to drop. Thank you to all who gave donations for the lap top and a very special Thank You to Dale Longlitz for making this dream come true for Abi. EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU ARE TRUE HEROS AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY TRULY APPRECIATES WHAT YOU DID. THANK YOU.
In the morning Abi will go back to surgery to remove her existing central line and replace it with a different type of line for her future bone marrow transplants.
The surgery is scheduled for about 10:00 a.m. so please keep her in your prayers.
Today Dawson gave platlets for his sister and he plans to give blood again before he goes back to school.
Thank you for continuing to visit us and for your all important prayers.
God Bless You,
Patti

Dear Friends,
I don't have too much time, however, I wanted you to know that this afternoon Abi and I came home from TCH. We were here about an hour and Abi's temp went up to 101.7 and she was sick on her stomach so much that she could not keep down her medicine. Bobby and Dawson have left to go the emergency room at TCH and she will probably be admitted back to the hospital. I stayed here to wash a few gowns for her and to take a quick shower before returning back to the hospital myself. I have only had a few hours of sleep for the past three days and it is really beginning to show. Abi's blood pressure is dropping at night(the past two night's were in the 88 over 35 range) and I just wanted to watch her as closely as possible. She is scheduled to go in for a surgery on Thursday to change out her central line to a more sturdy application for her bone marrow ferrises(not sure how to spell that word). Hopfully she will be well enough by then so that we do not have to delay the procedure. Thanks to those who called and came by during chemo- it surely does brighten her day when she gets to talk or play cards with someone other than me!HA! The dryer is going off and the clothes are about ready so I have to go.
Thank you for the prayers and please continue to pray for Abi's healing. Oh, and Dawson got in and Abi nearly jumped off her bed when he walked into her room. Please pray for Dawson, this is a very hard thing for him to be going through. Please pray for Bobby and I we need all of the blessing that the Lord can give to us. Again, Thank you for all of your love and support.
Love in Christ,
Patti

Good Morning!
I wanted to sit down to let you know that today Abi is sheduled to go back into TCH for her 4th round of chemo. The last bone marrow test ended up showing that the cancer was still in her marrow. I WOULD LIKE TO ASK YOU FOR ALOT MORE PRAYER FOR HER CANCER TO LEAVE THE BONE MARROW COMPLETELY. She loves her nurses, Ms. Beth, Ms.Janet and Ms. Kelly along with alot of other nurses and staff, so she seems to be excited to be able to see them today. Abi really misses school and all her friends and now it seems that she looks forward to the hospital to at least get to go out and be with others. The worst part about the hosital is her being separated from her PC for so many days-she always looks forward to getting back to play her programs. Abi truly enjoyed visiting with our dear friend from New Mexico last week, Lenann. We really enjoyed having her with us and miss her so very much now that she has gone. Please remember Lenann in your prayers as she marries Ken next week and they impart on a new life together. Again, thank you for all your messages and prayers. Going in for the chemo is a very hard 3 to 4 days and our family really needs your prayers during this time.
May God Bless You,
PATTI

Dear Friends,
What a beautiful Sunday we are having. Abi was not able to go to church today because on Friday her Doctor called to tell us that her ANC count ( the part of the white blood cells that fight off illness )was low. We had to begin giving her the GCSF shots at night to help boost her up - so she is considered in an immune impaired state at the moment- until this count returns. We are hoping her counts align into a more normal range so that we won't have to delay going in for her next round of chemo. She hates getting those shots and we HATE to give them to her. The good thing is that we let her call her brother immediately after the bandaid goes on and that seems to help her forget about it and calm down quickly.(Buy stock in AT&T!)
Please continue to pray for Abi's healing. We feel strongly that because of all of the wonderful prayer she has done well in not having to spend too much time in the hospital between chemo treatments. Right now she has a runny nose and we pray that it does not get any worse than it is now. Thank you for supporting us .

Dear Friends,
This is the first time that I have been able to sit down and express my sincere "Thanks" to everyone for all of the beautiful messages and prayers for my darling daughter Abi. As my husband would read the messages at night I would read a few over his shoulder and then leave the room. It was so touching and emotional I just could not sit down and go through the entire journal until last week. This experience has been the most difficult time of my life and it seems that I could only focus on "one day at a time". Abi is the most incredible trooper I have even seen. Although there have been MANY painful and uncomfortable weeks and days for her, her spirit and will is stronger than ever. She sings and dances each day with Ms. Carol
(the Angel that God sent to us to help to take care of Abi,so that Bobby and I could try to maintain some type of work schedule). Abi is so blessed with the most wonderful Doctors and Nurses at Texas Childrens Hospital and we ask that you remember them in your prayers as they continue to work their hearts out to heal Abigayle. Another blessing that has been sent to Abi is The Galloway School. This school has banded together to support our Abi and our family in so many ways that we will never be able to express enough thanks or gratitude to fully express how we feel. The children at her school call her regularly and some have even been down to see her when she was feeling up to it. The parents and children have sent cards and gifts ( too many to count ) to keep her spirits up. One of the mothers made a video that featured all of the children in her classes giving Abi individual get well wishes and heart felt "I love you's"(I still can not watch it without crying). This video should really win the Academy Award for best film - I promise you that nothing you watch will ever top this. I want to say Thank You to the people who worked so very hard to make this video, Abi shows it to Everyone who comes to the house. Some other mothers at the school made Abi a professional Scrap Book of most of the events that have happened at the school over the past year and a half (she takes this book to the clinic and to the hospital with her to show her Doctors and Nurses). This too is a loving work that our entire family enjoys. The hours that went into all of these gifts are truly amazing and we feel that our child could never be in a finer place than The Galloway School. My heart is so touched and I want you to know that I can't say Thank You enough for all that everyone at the school has done and continues to do to help us to get through this process. You just can't imagine how upside down yur world turns when something like this hits you and it is only through my Faith in GOD and the love of our Family and Friends that I am managing.
Abi is getting ready to go back to the hospital for her 4th round of chemotherapy. The past two Tuesdays in a row she has had to spent 12 to 14 hours at TCH getting blood and platlett transfusions.
I had a big conference with the Doctor that is in charge of the transplant team at TCH and we are beginning to see the chart that they are going to follow for Abi's bone marrow transplants. These two transplants are very difficult and will really make her very very ill, they tell us to expect her to be in the hospital 4-6 weeks for each transplant. Before the transplants begin we have another big hurtle and that will be another surgery to remove the tumor in her abdomin. We are cherishing the time we are having at home right now and Abi is loving playing on her computer. The computer and all her games and educational cd's seem to be what she is interested in the most and they really help her to stay occupied and alert. She is really trying to read right now and we are constantly searching for new CD's to help her. (If you have any suggestions please let us know). She is counting the days before her brother comes home for spring break. Having Dawson home will be a blessing for all of us. Bobby,Abi and Dawson will all try to catch fish and I will enjoy watching and cooking for them.
I again ask that you continue to lift Abi and our entire Family up to our LORD. We are in need of prayer and I can tell you that knowing that we have so many people praying for Abigayle's complete and total healing has made a tremendous difference to me. Thank you. Well, I'm sorry that I have been so long winded- I will try to be more brief next time ( my friends that know me are probably laughing at that promise).

May God bless each and every
one of you. Patti

GOOD EVENING

Its been a while since the last up-date.

This past friday ABI had some of her BONE MARROW fluid removed to see how much progress has taken place in the blood system.
We were expecting the results back yesterday but during the clinic visit, ABI'S
blood and platelet levels were so low she had to have a transfusion. This was the second blood and platelet transfusion in the past two weeks.

Her doctor said that this new chemo treatment was still working in her system and that is why ABI'S levels were not back to normal but by this weekend everything should be ok.

We need A+ BLOOD & PLATELET donors. For the next couple of months with this new type of chemo treatment, ABI'S levels will be very slow to come back to normal which means we must have blood and platelets stored for emergency situations.

For blood donors we need 1 unit of blood per week for the next couple of months and for platelet donors we need 1 unit per every three days. This gives us a window just in case we have to rush ABI in for a platelet trans.(platelets can only be stored for five days)

ABI'S spirit & energy levels are very high even though her blood levels are low.(WHAT A FIGHTER) We have an all time high on ABI'S weight 35lbs.

Please keep the prayers coming in.

GOOD EVENING

Sorry for the long delays on up-dates but as they say no news is good news. ABI has had a wonderful week and weekend after this new treatment.

The new treatments(chemicals)generally create a low grade fever around this time but ABI seems to be as normal as always with less nausea than the first two treatments.

This friday, ABI will have her BONE MARROW fluid
removed again, to determine if the treatments are attacking the cancer in the BONE MARROW. The DOCTORS believe there will be a reduction like that of the stomach tumor.

PLEASE be patient on our up-dates we only want to give up-lifting stories but I promise to keep everyone informed when bad times strike.

TO MRS McCULLOUGH class, please keep us informed of any BIRTHDAYS that are coming up. We would like to be involved even though we may not physically be able to go to the parties.

ABI says she misses all her friends at GALLOWAY SCHOOL, and we promise to have everyone over as soon as possible.

GOOD EVENING

It's been a few days since our last up date but wanted to wait to give a good progress.

We started chemo treatments around 8:00pm
friday, saturday and tonite and each one lasts about 4 hours.

ABI had a reasonably good nite friday but saturday was pretty rough because the nausea
medicine made her very depressed and sad, this lasted from 3:00pm till midnight and tonite, everything seemed ok when I left.

A nurse didn't secure one of the tubing lines properly and ABI lost about a pint of blood before this was noticed. This happened
during the early morning while PATTI was asleep, we are so greatful the nurses checked up on ABI when they did, because of this ABI needed a blood transfusion tonite, compliments of the hospital.

ABI now weighs 34lbs and the DOCTORS tell us ABI can come off the nightly nutrition
once she gets to 38lbs, this should take another 3 weeks.

A special thanks to FRENCHIES restaurant for providing that special spaghetti that ABI loves so well. I brought her a full size dinner with 4 meatballs and she ate 2 meatballs and half the spaghetti before you could bat a eye. WE LOVE YOU GUYS.

The prayers are working and we truely love all our friends.

HELLO FRIENDS

WE WANT TO THANK ALL OF OUR NEW FRIENDS OUT THERE WHO CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR ABI. GOD IS REALLY LOOKING AFTER ABI.

ABI had a great time this weekend, she went shopping for a new computer game on saturday and sunday she had 2 of her friends
(BEAR & CODY) come over and play for several hours. I was able to cook outside on the pit and then took all the kids for a ride on our boat.

ABI will have her 3rd chemo this friday, saturday and sunday. This time the treatment will last 3-days with new chemicals, this seems to attack the tumor a little more aggressively than the first two.
She will also have a follow up BONE MARROW
TEST to see how much the treatments have killed the cells in the BONE MARROW as well.

ABI now has a NANNY who comes to the house three days a week and boy can she cook. MISS
CAROL is teaching ABI spanish words and songs, what a blessing.

I want to personally thank COLIN MILLAR for spending many hours and organizing the prayer groups for little ABI. COLIN you are a wonderful friend.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE

GOOD EVENING

This is the headline news everyone has been waiting for:ABI'S DIAGNOSIS AFTER 2 CHEMO TREATMENTS A MIRACULOUS 40% VOLUME LOSS.

There was no doubt in my mind after reivewing the bone scan yesterday that the tumor had shrunk sizeably and the 40% loss was confirmed today, by DOC RUSSELL.

ABI will have three more more treatments before the removal of the remaining tumor as well as the bone marrow transplant, looks like that will be around may 15th.

My family is very thankful for the many thousands of prayers being administered for ABI, and it is showing by the looks of the test results.

It looks like we will be starting our own ROLAND R US toy store. ABI'S school friends
collected a truck load of hats, stuffed
animals,crayons,coloring books,markers,shirt
shorts, videos, music box, dolls, pillowed hearts, candies, games, beads, stickers, puzzles and many wonderful cards. This was very exciting for ABI, it was like 5 christmas's but the best part was she smiled and enjoyed opening every present, we can't thank everyone enough.THANK YOU,,,, GALLOWAY SCHOOL

WE STILL HAVE A VERY LONG ROAD TO TRAVEL.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

What a SPECIAL VALENTINES DAY it is. ABI had a good check up yesterday, she has a little ear infection but all her blood levels are back to normal and she informed
me that DOCTOR RUSSELL told her she didn't
need to take anymore shots this week, boy was ABI excited about that.

DOCTOR RUSSELL told us, it is very rare for a fever not to appear after any chemo treatments. RUSSELL contributes this no fever issue to extreme hand washing maintenance, I contribute it to a special
CLEAN AIR HANDLING UNIT that a wonderful friend of mine (BILL TILMAN) gave to us for ABI. This portable CLEAN AIR UNIT is designed to turn the air in the house 6 times per hour, as the air is absorbed into the UNIT it becomes trapped into a SPECIAL FILTER called a HEPA FILTER. These type of
HEPA FILTERS are the same type found in all HOSPITAL OPERATING ROOMS or ROOMS WHERE SEMICONDUCTOR CHIPS are made. This by far is the most PURE CLEAN AIR anyone can have.

ABI should be well enough this weekend to be
able to go outside and play or maybe have a friend come over as long as they are 100% sick free.

KEEP THE PRAYERS A COMIN
thanks THE ROLANDS

Monday, February 12, 2001 at 06:55 PM (CST)

HELLO EVERYONE

It was a very good weekend for ABI.We
were praying for a worry free recovery after the second chemo treatment, and our prayers were answered. It is pretty common
for a fever (101) to set in 7-10 days after the treatment, the highest we saw was 99.0.

Tomorrow, ABI has her clinic visit for minor follow-ups. Thursday, ABI will have another cat-scan and bone-scan to determine how much the tumor has shrunk, we think alot.

For the first time, ABI now weighs 33/lbs and her activity levels continue to strengthen. WHAT A BLESSING.

The next chemo treatment will be around the 23rd FEB.

YOUR PRAYERS ARE WORKING

GOOD MORNING TGIF

The last few days have been wonderful for ABI. She was able to go outside and play on her new swing set and go for a ride around the block in her wagon, this seems so normal for children but this is about the most activity she can handle.

ABI'S blood levels are at rock bottom for the next few days so she must stay inside and keep warm but mostly lay around in bed, read books and color.

PATTI AND I are looking for a loving & caring person who could look after ABI 2-3 days a week on a regular schedule
from around 9-3 so we can continue to work. Both of are jobs are very demanding and require our physical attention. There will always be some days that ABI will require only PATTI OR MYSELF to take care of her, so the days she is normal we really don't have to be with her at home.

IF you know of an individual out there who might be interested please have them contact us at 409-935-8185

THANK YOU FOR THE CONTINUED PRAYERS

Tuesday, February 06, 2001 at 05:12 AM (CST)

good morning

The past few days have been the best days we have ever seen ABI active. Her energy level seems to be what a normal 4 year old should be. ABI is eating substantially more food than in the past and with a desire to eat, this may be strange to people who dont know ABI but not eating seemed to be a normal daily pattern for her. ABI is considerably more playful and has a yearning desire to play on the computer at longer periods of time and is also trying very hard to read. Overall, ABI is extremely happier than we have ever seen her.

In the past 2 nights she has seemed to accept her shots with very little struggle, I believe this, because of the extra weight she is putting on.

Our next scheduled clinic visit will be next week on the 13th if everything goes well and the next chemo treatment will be on or around the last week in feb. The doctors are planning to do another cat scan that same week to she just how much the tumor has shrunk, we think a whole lot with the signs of her increased activity and eating levels.

I want to pesonally thank everyone for the wonderful e-mails that keep coming thru, it is really appreciated by our family as well as other people who keep up with the site.

PATTI & I also want to thank everyone of our customers or clients who have been so understanding of our time away from the plants or job sites to handle normal daily activities. I want to assure my plant customers that I am always available to answer any questions that may come up or problems that may need to be handled.

DEAR FRIENDS

My family cant thank everyone enough for the wonderful prayers and e-letters we receive each day.It is so exciting to open up the site and view your letters. Its nice to know that people from all over the world have seen the site and spend a few moments to share a prayer or just want to say hello to a little precious girlwho they may not even know. Special thanks to my sister who created this site. GREAT NEWS; ABI was able to come home from the hospital today after 3 days recovering from high fever tuesday night. We must rush ABI to the emergency room any time her temperature reaches 102 degrees. The fever was caused by her low blood levels, the doctors say this is common when the blood levels drop. With 3 days of antibiotics all blood levels are normal. When these blood levels go back to normal usually 3 weeks after a chemo treatment, it is time to start another chemo treatment and the cycle starts again.
ABI is scheduled on Feb. 1-2 for the next treatment, these are generally administered through the chemo clinic but due to her last reaction the treatment will be done in her own room. With a little luck maybe we can go home the next day after the treatment, January was tough we spent 20 days at the hospital. The time at the hospital went by so quick, most of the time ABI was doing ok but seemed to go into a depressed state mostly due to the seperation of her friends at school. Activities are very limited on her floor, this also contributed to the depression. I never knew a child this young could become saddened so quickly. The only enjoyment ABI seems to have is spending time with her child care worker and the one day home, only wanted to play on her computer the rest of the time she rests, somehow we need to transport her computer to the hospital.
The hospital provides a child life specialist for each family and our specialist REBECCA became ABI's shining light. REBECCA makes special effort and takes time out, even on her off days to come by and spend many hours working with ABI. REBECCA IS VERY LOVED BY OUR FAMILY. GOD BLESS ABI'S NEW FAMILY OF FRIENDS.

Hello to all of you wonderful supporters. If you have not read the update page for Jan 23, please do that. The newest report is that Abi had to return to the hospital in the middle of the night. She began to have a high fever. They will be running tests to determine the cause of the fever. Her appetite is fair... but she continues to be nauseated and not that hungry. Again and always, thank you for the prayers you are offering up for Abi. With all of your love, we know that the Lord will be listening. Abi is so very fortunate to have so many of you in her corner. Your love, is indeed helping to keep the family encouraged.

ABI finally came home monday evening, boy was she excited she was telling everyone at the hospital I'M GOING HOME. once at home i began to unload my suburban with all the ballons, dolls, stuffed animals, flowers, toys, blankets, pillows, foam mat and suit cases or 15 trips up and down the stairs, man was i tired and then came the home care nurse to teach me medical lesson 101. over the next few days and nights i will be learning how to take care of abi while she is at home. so anyone of you who need shots, give me a call.
ABI will need 4 units of blood after each treatment, she was given a transfusion monday and will need another by this weekend.
two of my friends from ameraflex gave blood monday and that will hold us over until her next treatment which is feb 1-2. the doctors are requesting blood type specific or A+ donors for the transfusions.
PATTI and I want to thank everyone who came out on friday to ameraflex and gave blood the final count was 70 units. even though only a few units are A+ TEXAS CHILDRENS HOSPITAL needs it. we would like to have our A+ donors to rotate every other treatment, this gives enough time for the blood to replenish.
we were very lucky to find this tumor, ABI never complained of any stomach pains other than what we felt were due to constipation of which we have been battling for several years. ABI had a lower gi a few years ago and the doctors told us the tests came back normal and that ABI would eventually grow out of this problem.
PLEASE never let any ailment go undetected and request a more thorough examination of your children before accepting the problem as minor.

dear friends
sorry i havn't updated until today, abi was sick the past 2 days. on wednesday abi had an MRI on her brain jusy to check for additional tumors and the test came back with perfect results. today we had a full body bone scan and the only place the tumor lies is in the abdominal area. also this the first day abi had a great appetite and ate some of everything, unfortunately, she can not come home until she gains weight or can eat without the (IV) food supplements.
our new concern is that abi eat plenty of food to remain stable and heathly before her next treatment.

Today, January 11, is the first day of entry to Abi's Web Page. Abi, age 4, is the beautiful daughter of Bobby and Patti Roland. Last Friday 1-05-01, was a very dark day for our family. Doctors at Texas Children's Hospital reported their suspiscions after performing a CAT Scan on Abi. They suspected NeuroBlastoma but would need to do a biopsy to confirm and the results should be in tomorrow, 1/12/01.
Preliminary reports indicated tumor in the abdomin as well as chest cavity and further tests reveal cancer in the bone marrow. Everyone is upset and nervous awaiting the results and plans for treatment. Prayers are requested
