Dearest Friends and Family,

It has been quite some time since my last update. Therefore, in addition to putting this on Robin’s Caring Bridge Website: www.caringbridge.com/tx/robinw I decided to send each of you whom I have an email address for a personal copy to let you know how we’re doing.

Time has gone by so quickly since Robin has passed. Adjusting to life without her hasn’t been easy. I feel as though I am being pulled and pushed in every direction. Playing dual roles has proven to be quite the challenge to say the least. I find myself in uncharted waters trying to raise 2 children of 2 different genders. Robin fortunately was able to be a stay at home mom since the time the kids were born, she was so in tuned to both of them. She would always know when something was wrong or when they were troubled even before they said anything, “If they said anything at all”. Like a lot of people I was always working most of the time and therefore now, I find myself completely lost, blind and ignorant if you will to this type of intellect. Children can be so delicate and fragile as well as complicated, they are a constant work in progress. I’m not a bad father or neglectful, I just never got to play this role to the extent that Robin did. Course, I don’t think I will ever do it as well as she did, but I’m learning and doing the best I can. I have to say it is an eye opening experience, one that I will surely cherish long-term. I continue to ask God for strength, wisdom and understanding of their individual needs. I know that he will help me and guide me as I continue on this journey.

Both, Roger Jr. and Raquel are doing pretty well considering. They as I, have their moments dealing with the loss of their mother. School has kept them extremely busy with daily homework and projects etc. Roger is a big shot 8th grader this year and I’m convinced that it’s gone right to his head, you know, no brain waves, nothing registers. Possibly due to these circumstances, he has started the year struggling just a little with his concentration. However after a few adjustments and some strategically selected consequences it’s getting better and better with each passing day. He played football again this year and his team had a very successful season finishing 7-1 on the year. He in particular had a good year at middle line backer with 1 fumble recovery and 2 interceptions, one he ran back for a touchdown. Now, he’ll take some time off to concentrate on his studies until spring when he’ll return to the baseball field.

Raquel made her big jump from Elementary to Jr. High this year. She entered 6th grade and it started out as a big adjustment for her. Contrary, she has adjusted very well and is making very good grades so far. She is growing up so fast. She keeps talking about make-up, shaving her legs, re-decorating her room, how old does she have to be before she can go out (30), and on and on it goes. I know, all normal stuff, but not for a guy who never thought anything about those kinds of things until now. Raquel also participates in extra curricular activities such as drill team and drama. There’s no doubt she is our drama queen, it’ll be interesting to see if she can take that out going personality to the stage.

Here’s something I’m pretty excited about. This year for the very first time, their school implemented a group counseling class that the counselors enrolled both Roger and Raquel in to. Each group consists of 7-8 kids that are on the same grade level and of the same gender. The classes are being held once a week for a period of six weeks total. Because there are other kids in the class they are unable to tell me what’s being discussed for confidentiality purposes, but they seem to like it thus far. I’m really glad they started this program and it’ll be interesting to see the outcome.

I’m a little concerned about the upcoming holiday season. I’m sure we will hit some lows during this time, but the kids seem to be excited for now. They want to continue our traditions with cutting down our tree and decorating etc. I’m a little apprehensive about Christmas Day in particular, but I’m sure we will get through it.

As for me, I continue to have my ups and downs on a daily basis. I continue to ask God for guidance and strength. I am truly blessed that I have been able to feel his presence in
my life more than ever before. It would be so easy to be down and depressed at this time in my life, but I know that isn’t what he wants me to do nor would it be setting a good example for the kids. I’m still not sure what God has in store for me, but I know that with every challenge I face, it’s a test of my faith and obedience to him. As long as I believe in him, understand that he is in control and I give up to him my worries and concerns he will take care of us.

After experiencing what Robin went through for 2 ½ years I do have some newly found passions in my live, the biggest being promoting good health. I’ve come to the conclusion that if I never experience anything like that again for the duration of my life it won’t be too soon. What I have learned during and since Robin’s passing is that 1) life is short and 2) none of us get the proper nutrition our bodies need with today’s processed foods. Although we may not realize it for sometime, our cells are slowly being deprived of what they need to achieve and/or sustain optimal health. Therefore, we are seeing more and more chronic illnesses popping up in every form imaginable. Heart disease, Cancer, Diabetes, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, MS and the list goes on and on. After Robin passed away, I felt a strong desire to do something. It was such a strong feeling that it seemed more like a calling from God for me to do something, to find a way to help educate and/or improve upon the nutrition our bodies are deprived of on a daily basis. As amazing as what I’m about to say may sound I truly believe that God had everything to do with it. About 3 weeks after Robin passed a friend of mine called and shared something with me that I later found to be truly amazing. He told me about a nutritional and supplemental company called Usana Health Sciences. He said that after 20 years of research, Dr. Myron Wentz has put together a formula of supplemental products that can achieve optimal health. I personally found this too good to be true. Remembering what I had just gone through with Robin, knowing that traditional medicine wasn’t going to get us there anytime soon and having a bit more understanding of holistic remedies and how complicated and costly they could be, I couldn’t believe that anyone including scientist could or would put something together to achieve optimal health and “make it simple”. However, God’s continued presence and direction urged me to check this out and therefore I did. I researched this company quite thoroughly and found their foundation, their statements and testimonials to be quite overwhelming to tell you the truth. God continued to present me with a sense of security about this company and their products and therefore, I felt compelled to take the next step and start taking the supplements for myself. Within a week of taking these products I could already feel a difference. I’ve been taking my Usana products for just over a month now and the experience has been nothing but amazing. I truly believe without a doubt that these products can and will promote optimal health. Whether you currently have a chronic illness or just want to prevent them from happening, I encourage you to take a look at these products and this company yourself. You can research them through my website at: www.unitoday.net/rogerw. I also have a new email address: roger3503@sbcglobal.net. If any of you are interested in obtaining any of these products or if you would like additional information, please contact me by email, through my unitoday website or via the caring bridge website.

I truly believe that God brought Usana into my life for more reasons than one. I also believe the foremost important thing to achieving optimal health is believing it can be done. In addition to Usana, I sell advertisement, the kind you see on the back of registry receipts at your local grocery store. I sell them for HEB stores here in Texas primarily, however we do represent other stores through out the U.S. If any of you have a need for advertising like this, just let me know, it’s economical and it works. In case your wondering or just don’t know, I’ve made a career change and I am truly convinced that it is by God’s direction that I’ve done so. Whether I will ever go back into what I was doing is still uncertain, but thus far, the freedom to be at home and available to the kids has been a true blessing. I am keeping all of my options open for now, but in the meantime, the kids are really happy that I can be there for them, especially with having just lost their mom. It is to early to tell whether these new opportunities will pay the bills or not, but I know that God has a plan and that he will provide for us some how some way.

Finally, I would once again like to extend my thanks and gratitude to all of you for your kindness, your prayers and your unselfish hearts while Robin and I battled her cancer. I can’t tell you how many times you lifted us up during the toughest of times. If there is ever a way that I can return the favor, please don’t hesitate to ask. I now know first hand what it’s like to go through something as tragic as cancer or any chronic illness for that matter. It’s much more difficult than anyone can imagine. Therefore, I repeat, please don’t hesitate to ask if there is anything I can do.

God be with you always,

The Wiseneske’s
