The kids are both in school now and loving it. Abby started the year with two close friends already in her class and she loves her teacher. She even likes gym this year, so things are good. Ben started preschool for the first time this week. He doesn’t know any one in his class, but that doesn’t bother him one bit. I walked him in the first day and thought I might stay a while, but he was ready for me to go, so I did. Where did my baby go?
Funny Ben story: Ben wants to be like a Seahorse because seahorse Dad’s carry the babies in their belly until they are born (this is true) and he thinks it would be neat to have a baby in his belly. He also wants to marry our neighbor, Kristina, because she “LETS” her husband drive a big truck and have lots of pets. Ha.
Now, on to the not so funny. Abby has a kidney function test on Monday, a Cat Scan on Tuesday, and an appointment with her oncologist on Thursday. Please keep all that in your prayers. We will learn all our test results on Thursday, and I will put them in this journal when I get home. Don’t forget to pray that she does ok with drinking the nasty contrast and all the IV starts. Hopefully this time the nurse can get it on the first try without all the digging around.
Don’t forget September is childhood cancer awareness month. 12,500 children in America are diagnosed with cancer every year. That is about two school classrooms every day. Cancer is the NUMBER ONE disease killer of American children. So wear your gold ribbons in September in honor of these kids.
Our Church (Grace Community on the gulf freeway northbound side @ beltway 8) is having a special service to pray for children with cancer and their families (on and off treatment) on Weds, Sept. 24th at 7:00pm. To our Texas Children’s friends, I hope you can join us. It was a wonderful service last year! ! And I hope the rest of you can make it out to support these kids through prayer. They really need all our prayers – for some a miracle is the only hope they have. But, the good news is that I believe in miracles.
Our church will also be providing dinner and some kind of entertainment to all the families on the 9th floor on Tues, Sept. 16th. So, to our Grace friends – I don’t need a ton of volunteers, but I do need a few more. E-mail me if you want to help or if you just want to cook and send something.
Please keep Chloe P, and Chloe S from here in Houston, and a wilm’s warrior – Sammi – from Washington in your prayers – all are in LOTS of physical pain and both the Chloe’s parents are having to search for new expiramental treatments because what they were doing isn’t work. Sammi is on hospice care.
