Part 1 of 2
As our country mourns this week on the 7th anniversary of 9/11, I remember that morning as if it was yesterday. Eric and I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment in Irving. I had awoken late, listening occasionally watching NBC Today Show as I got ready. They had one of those breaking news sounds and started to talk about New York and the World Trade Center, I looked up and saw the building a blaze. As I rushed to get dressed, I called my boss, Paul and said I would be in shortly and asked him if he knew what was going on? I called Clyde, told him what was happening – he said to me you may have never heard of this man, but mark my words, he is responsible for this – Osama Bin Laden. I got to work for Nokia as quickly as possible. The elevator lobby on the 1st floor as well as the 3rd floor where I got off was packed with people watching the devastation on tv. I remember the grime faces, tears coming down faces, fear and concern for their family, friends and colleagues in other parts of the world. I got to my desk trying to contact all of our employees traveling and working on getting them home as quickly and safely as possible so their families, friends and pets would not have to suffer as the 2,974 mostly civilians from over 90 coutnries who lost their lives that day many of those trying to save and protect others from more harm. Every one of our employees arrived back to their original destination within 6 days of this happening safe and sound. For some it was difficult due to their background, ethnicity and passport affiliation and some harsh feelings felt and said towards them, but they were grateful to be back. It is a time to be a proud American regardless of how you feel about politics, politicians, war etc… America needs us to stand up and fight for her today as hard as we did the day this tragedy happened. We need to act as one - come together one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all and who believes terrorism is a negative slice of life and needs to be dealt with everyday.
Oppsie - I guess it has been all summer since the last update We have had a very busy summer just keeping up with day to day activities and keeping cool. We celebrated Emily’s 2nd anniversary of the Fontan as well as family birthdays, friends birthdays, July 4th and Labor Day. Emily and Kate are in Little Hearts Montessori School 2 days a week half days (see pictures of 1st day of school and many other new pictures). It is wonderful. Emily is in the 4 year old class; her teacher is Mrs. Trina who is expecting her 1st grandchild in late winter/early spring and Kate in the 2 year old class, her teacher Miss Lynn who has 6 children and a grandchild. Both girls love it although the first day, they both cried. Our wonderful nanny Dolette is there at the school incase of problem. We really rely on her so much to provide comfort, basic nursing, care and love for our girls while she is with them, but she thinks of them when she is not with them and doing other things – making Empress Heart pillows for kids in the hospital, garage selling buying them books and clothes (Eric swears he created a monster with her and garage selling. I used to think Eric was king of negotiating with money – Dolette is pretty equal to him), Dolette covered the screws on the girls climbing doom so they wouldn’t get hurt. Sorry I digress, anyway, we certainly could not do this without her as well as Clyde & Joyce who provide Dolette with back up and breaks when they are at their house. See part 2 of 2 I ran out of room!
