The Wienerschnitzel Saga Continues
Thank y'all for your suggestions in getting Joey to take the medicine. We've done the blowing in the face and it wasn't working anymore. And after reading Misty's suggestions about how she holds her dog's snout closed I was wishing my kids had snouts! Sure they might be social outcasts, but they would be healthy! However, David came to the rescue with the idea of holding their noses. I had no idea that holding their nose would get them to swallow! But before I got your suggestions I found a piece of Hershey Bar and stuck it in the spoon with the medicine and it worked like a charm! He even asked for more! What can I say? He's a boy after my own heart - the boy loves his chocolate!
So the doctor who I saw last Thursday (she's the Nurse Practitioner in the practice) called me yesterday and said they want to go ahead and do another blood test just to confirm that it was a strep infection, and we have to come in every week and do a urinalysis and check his blood pressure until there isn't any blood left in his urine. I'm glad about all this - it's always good to be sure. She did say I wouldn't have necessarily known it if he had a strep infection. As long as the strep test is positive we're good to go, but if it's not, we'll have to do a 24 hour collection of his urine - doesn't that sound fun? So you can pray for me as I attempt to take all 4 kids to the lab today to get the bloodwork and the urinalysis done. I remember well the last time I took all 4 kids to the lab - it was right after Joey was born and he needed an AFP test. I break out in a cold sweat just thinking about it. Hopefully, with everyone being 2 years older, it will be better - it wouldn't take much to be better than then! Just wanted to give y'all that update. Good grief - we got through Joey's cancer without having to go to the doctor this much! I'm just glad we're in the same town as the doctor now!
I mentioned in my last post that our senior pastor & his wife invited us out to dinner for the first day of school celebration. Well, we went to Burger King at my choice because it's got a nice indoor playground. Well, I was getting some ketchup, and I left the kids with the Walkers, and when I came back they were laughing. Apparently Levi told them something to the effect of, "I really thought we'd go someplace nicer to eat, somewhere like "On the Border"
What!!! They thought it was hilarious, and so to reward those impeccable manners they are going to take him & Sam out somewhere of their choice.
Then yesterday I took Lily-Grace & Joey to Target, and we got Lily some new shoes. I needed to take her with me because I wasn't sure what size she needed. Unfortunately, they had spark-ely shoes in 4 colors, and she thought she needed them all! We didn't get them all, but we did get 2 different colors. She even had the checker cut the tags off so she could wear them out of the store! Then when we got home and she was praying at lunch, she said, "Thank you for this day. Thank you for Target." Steve shot me a look. What?! Can I help it if she likes fashion at reasonable prices?
Just thought I'd give you all an update - thanks for your prayers & support!
Love,
Alayna
P.S. No, Jim, I have not ever heard your story about locking your Sunday School teacher in her room. I would love to hear it, but DO NOT, under any circumstances, tell that story to Sam. I'm not even kidding.
