I just stumbled upon the link to Sarah's web page, which I thought had been lost with my old computer. I hope all of you are well. Your family photo on the beach is just beautiful. John finally has health insurance with his company so I have dropped down to 20 hours/week at PaperSoft. All of us are doing well and would love to hear from you. My email address and phone number have not changed. You can also call my work phone at extension 5021. We have fond memories of the time our families have spent together. I hope the Lord continues to bless you and your family. Love always,

Wow Hicks Family!! I can't believe how the kids have grown! Nick is now in 6th grade as well and is enjoying football, guitar lessons, and the B honor roll! Minus a few broken bones from football, his post treatment has been uneventful. I havn't updated Nick's Caringbridge site for several years. I can't believe how time has flown by. Great to see the smiling faces of you all! Take Care and God Bless!

I am glad to hear y'all are doing well. I am sure it is a big transition to have Kelly working. We are all doing well. Kate plays soccer almost year round. Joseph wants to try cross country this year. John has his own business and shares an office with his brother's company. I am still working for PaperSoft. We are thinking about making a trip to Birmingham Thanksgiving week. Will y'all be in town then? We would love to visit.

Hey friends!
I am so glad that I have Jonah in my class, if even for a short while. I have missed my dose of Hick's family this year! He is a hoot, he has a lot of Emma's personality. I am so glad to hear that the girls (all of you) are doing well too!

I saw the link to your page on my friends site, kenyon. It's a huge shock to us all that he has a secondary cancer. Stories like yours gives us all hope that things are going to be okay and the amazing power of God. We all seem to forget from time to time who is really in control. After all, our children are His before they are ours. You have a beautiful family. May God continue to bless you!

Hello,

My name is Kathi Clarke. I lost my 14 yr old niece last year due to Burkitts Lymphoma. Since that devastating day I have been involved in a group to promote childhood cancer awareness. I wanted to write you and let you know of our group, and also our petition to raise awareness. Here is our group link:
http://curechildhoodcancer.ning.com/

Here is a posting on the front page right now....
I welcome you all to PAC2. As members I encourage you to invite others. To blog, join groups, provide info on fundraising events, and provide your ideas and thoughts in the Forum posts. To become a force we must continue to grow, we must continue to add signatures to the petition, we must develop and implement strategies to ensure we are seen and heard.

Yesterdays announcement of the feature of CHOP on the StandUp2Cancer show is a step in the right direction. But we need our own roadblock that forces the American public to take notice. The numbers are simply staggering, yet no one knows. Together we can make a difference. Together we can make it happen.

I am very excited by our membership so far. We have representatives from CureSearch, Make-A-Wish, Curing Childrens Cancer Fund, Team Unite, CureSearch Advocacy network, Stand Up 2 Cancer, medical professionals from Duke, TX Children's. We have parents, grandparents, friends, family members and others who simply care. It is shaping up to be a great mix of talents, life experiences and personalities.

I would ask you all to read the Mission Statement for PAC2. Its my thoughts. It can change some. But my goal is not to be another fundraiser. Not to be another disease specific group. Its to create nationwide awareness. Its to create the Inconvenient Truth moment for Childhood Cancer.

Just like you, I wish we didn't have to be here. But my son told me "we have to play the hand we are dealt Dad". (pre-randy pausch). So, we do what we do. We have chosen to fight.

Over the next week we will be establishing an Advisory Group made up of people from that great mix I just described above. We will start to lay out ideas, suggestions and strategies to make PAC2 a force to reckon with. I know we will be asking each of you your thoughts, ideas, talents and how you can best advance our fight. I know the response will be overwhelming.

Thanks to each and everyone......AJs Dad
(ps - sign and spread the petition, if you don't who will

And our petition link:
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/CureChildhoodCancer

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for what you do for so many kids/families. Please email me if you have any questions.

Thank you.

Sarah Anne,

I just found your site through a note from your dad on another CaringBridge site. He works with my daughter, who's son Luca is in his 3rd month of chemo for ALL. It is wonderful to hear about little ones like yourself who have beaten their disease with the help of God and wonderful friends and family. You are a beautiful girl, and I pray that you live the rest of your life free from illness or any effects of your long treatment battle. I hope that you get a perfect attendance award from school every year from now on.

You are a hero to us all,

Steve

Wow, I love to read stories of survivors! Congratulations on passing with an amazing grade point average and not missing one day of school! I do understand what an accomplishment that is.....my daughter has been fighting a brain tumour for four years, she is 2 years tumour free!! What a beautiful family by the way. Take care and enjoy your summer together as a family.

I came across your Caring Bridge site when I was looking at Avery Ann Hildreth's site. Avery attended the same Mom's Day Out program as my daughter, so that is where I became familiar with her. I never had the pleasure of meeting her in person, but she had a profound affect on our family. Although Avery has earned her wings, I am still drawn to her site.

You have a very beautiful family and I will keep Sarah Anne in our prayers. May God continue to give you strength as you and your family continue on your journey.

God Bless,

Thank you for your prayers and we can surely see God at work in this situation. Thanks again and it is great to here from you .

Hello Sarah Anne~~ I am new to your page, I got this link off of Madison Beck's caringbridge site. I just HAD to come visit you, because my youngest daughter's name is ALSO Sara Anne !! The only difference is she doesnt have an H on the end of Sarah (well..and she is 22 years old ;). With a pretty name like that I just knew you would be a very special, beautiful little girl and I was right! I am so happy to hear you are doing so well. I will be praying for you. Love in Christ,

It was so great to read a current update. It is so wonderful to see how fast Sarah Anne has grown... The fourth grade, Wow! Holly has been having great check ups too. It is hard to believe that Holly will be going to college. The empty nest is something I'm not looing forward too. She is only going about 30 miles from here so that is better for dad and mom to visit. She was planning on going 5 hours from here. Glad God worked that to my favor. Thank you, Lord!

I just happened to be visiting some of my "favorites" and am so happy to read a new update! We feel the same way about our experience at Children's. At Ross's last checkup we went up to 4T to visit - so many of the faces there are new but it was great to see some familiar faces, too.

Ross is seriously considering going into medicine - something I think has come about because of his personal experience. You never know how God will use tragedy to ultimately create good, do you?

God bless your sweet family!

A giraffe looks in my window
At the same time everyday,
He just appears with silly ears,
When I turn on the light to play.

I tell him the things I do at two
While he munches and crunches the leaves,
That are so very tasty too,
From the tippy tops of the trees.

One night he didn’t look so good,
His eyes were filled with pain.
I asked him, "What is the problem, the food?"
He said, "I must explain!"

"My knees are hurting pretty bad
And my long neck is so sore.
I really do like our talks,
But I can't take much more!
If you do a favor for me,
I know how my pain will be free.

CAN YOU MOVE UP TO THE SECOND FLOOR!!!
