Adam was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome at the age of 4 in Oct. 1999. Within days his MDS had turned to acute myeloid leukemia. He acheived remission after induction chemo in Nov. 99. On Dec. 30, 1999, Adam received a stem cell transplant with stem cells donated by his 9 year old sister Megan (a 5/6 match) Here is Adam's story.

Adam had surgery yesterday to repair a hydrocele/hernia. Surgery went fine. He was tired but numbed up pretty good yesterday. Today has been a bit more uncomfortable but tolerable. He should be moving around well enough by Monday to return to school. Now we just have to keep him from running, climbing trees and doing boy stuff for 6 weeks.

Otherwise, Adam is doing great! Feels good, plays hard and was the healthiest this past year than any other since transplant. We have moved on and back into the world of healthy boyhood!!!!

Cheers...Patti
