Hello Mary!
I did receive your message on Dakota's website and wanted to thank you for reaching out. It is very inspiring to hear from other Neuroblastoma families who are living proof that there are kids who survive and thrive after treatment. Especially at a time where you are surrounded by relapses, progressions, and new angels. So, for that, thank you!
We did receive a toy donation of an older version of a LeapPad from another family, so I hesitate to accept your kind offer if there is someone else out there who could use something similar. However, thank you so much! It was great to hear from you and I look forward to reading about Jake's journey.
Per your request, our address is below:

Thanks again!

I can't believe it has been so long since I was sitting at Children's, rocking you to sleep. Every night I am reminded of it when I put Brayden to bed. He is the same age now as you were when we met you and your dad in the hallway on the 5th floor, in the middle of the night...

Dave and family. You may not remember me but my name is Steve Miller and I worked for Daisytek years ago before it shut down. I have often wondered about you guys, specifically Jake and how he was doing having found out about his illness while with DT. I also remember coming out one year and playing in the For a Child's Sake Golf Tournament that you organized. I am so glad to know that Jake is doing so well and wish you and yours all the best.

Jake, you do not know me, but I have the wonderful pleasure of working with your father. He is a great person. I just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you. I understand from your dad that you are a cancer survivor. WOW, that is fantastic. My older brother was recently diagnosed with brain and lung cancer and he is just starting his fight. We are all hopeful. Being able to hear and read your story is encouraging and gives me more hope. He too is part of the Caring Bridge Website family. His name is Gary Selby. I now have two sites that I will visit and post to. Thank you and your dad for sharing your experience with me.
I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts. By the way “Happy Birthday.”

Hello Cohen family. It is nice to see you all doing well. The kids pictures are great. High school?? Where does time go? My daughter Ashley is also going to be in High School next year. I am visiting tonight to ask you to add a family to your prayer chain. They are very special to us. The little girls grandma is our pediatric nurse practioner here in Alliance. Her grand duaghter Danika Huston was diagnosed yesterday with AML. Her white count Monday went from 31,000 to I believe 51,000. She is currently in Denver at Presbyterian St. Lukes. Her mom and dad are very scared. Her father has had to return to Mitchell (70 miles from Alliance)for work and care for her 4 yr old sister and leave Danika and her Mother Ashley Mack in denver to start her treatment.Their initial stay will be approx. 8 months. She had her lunbar puncture and bone marrow aspiration yesterday as well as her pick line put in. She recieved her first round of cemo into her spinal collumn (in the spinal fluid)yesterday during her preocedures. They also have a caringbridge site for anyone wanting to send prayers their way. You are such a wonderful family that I knew this little girl and her family needed people like you pulling for her. Take care Cohen family! Glad to see Jake is doing so well!!!

I have a blog, and I am totally putting a link to this site on there. Dave, I really love working with you and just made 5 years at my company. As cancer has effected my immediate family I know the tough battle Jake fights everyday...but to do it with such a great family that loves him and works so hard to make a difference in others' lives is so beautiful. I truly am blessed to know you and thank you for sharing this with me. Jake, you are truly a strong young man who is blessed to have such a wonderful father and family. Happy Holidays Cohen Family!

Hello Cohens,
Hope this finds you all enjoying your summer!! It has been awhile since I have visited. Been a little busy lately with a new addition to our family. On January 23, 2008 we welcomed Makenna Paige Quick into the world. What a shock it was to find out we were having another child. Not in "the plan" but we wouldn't trade her for nothing! She is such a joy. Glad to hear that Jakes eyesight continues to get better. What a scary thing to have to go through. He is a tuffy!! We are hoping to get to Colorado and take in the amusement park and maybe a Rockies game. Heather said to let you know when we will be in town, maybe we can get together for pizza or something. Hope to see you all this summer. Hopes and wishes for Jakes eyesight to continue getting better. Take care, Jamie.

Hey Guys,

Wow, Jacob, you look great!! I think Yellow is your color. Hope you all are doing well. Bella is doing great. She had cataract surgery 2 weeks ago on one eye and this thursday will have the second eye done. She sees much better. But everytime I look in her eye (because there is a slight difference, reflection) I am sad because this horrible thing called cancer, still 5 years later, is giving us residual effects. We are hopeful, that this will be the last of her "issues!"

The weather has been gorgeous here. Bella had her kindergarten graduation this morning and is now officially headed to 1st grade!!

Hope you all are doing well.

Hello Cohen's! Jake - you are one handsome fellow and I am certain you are making a fantastic Ambassador for the hospital! Way to go! I have to tell you that I just looked back at your journal when Jake was Day +13 (which Peter is today) and it looks like we are having some issues that are very similar to what Jake experienced... amazing! It is so wonderful to be able to look at others who have walked in our shoes and say, "OK, this is normal, that is normal, we can get through this!" Peter's WBC is .6 today and ANC .4. He's on his way! But he does have fluid on his lungs (pneumonia) and they are testing for adenovirus, and all sorts of other things. Still wearing O2 and sleeping a ton! But seems to be getting better and better despite these things. Again, thanks Dave and family for all of your calls, caring and support. I am certain we will meet soon! Love, the Eigner's

Hi guys,
They couldn't have picked a more deserving ambassador. What a true testament to a child that has been through a lot. It is hard to believe their will be another Children't Hospital in less than a year. I remember when the plans were being made and it seemed so far off. I pray it has all the new and better advantages for all the children and their families as well as the Dr's and nurses. Sorry it has been so long...we are just busy, busy which I guess I always am and you all seem to be too. When are you coming to visit...Easter? Hmmm, Hmmm Hugs all around.

A giraffe looks in my window
At the same time everyday,
He just appears with silly ears,
When I turn on the light to play.

I tell him the things I do at two
While he munches and crunches the leaves,
That are so very tasty too,
From the tippy tops of the trees.

One night he didn’t look so good,
His eyes were filled with pain.
I asked him, "What is the problem, the food?"
He said, "I must explain!"

"My knees are hurting pretty bad
And my long neck is so sore.
I really do like our talks,
But I can't take much more!
If you do a favor for me,
I know how my pain will be free.

CAN YOU MOVE UP TO THE SECOND FLOOR!!!

What an awesome picture of the 2 guys that changed my life forever. I am printing it up right now to put in my room. Your whole family has always been such an inspiration for me and got me through the hard times in my life. I still check the site almost daily and have loved all the pictures you have put up recently. I miss you guys so much and I promise as soon as I get a chance I will come up and have a sleepover with you guys. Dave, maybe I'll even let you and Mary leave for a little so I get to spoil my favorite kids.
Love always,

Hi there!

You don't know me, but I just happened to be looking at Matty's guestbook and was surprised to see another Denverite on the top of the list! I had posted earlier saying that if they wanted some real snow they should come out to Denver cus we're buried, and then I checked back and there was your post right on top! :)

Anyway....5 years clean! how exciting! Your kids are absolutely beautiful!!! And hey, if you ever need a babysitter. ;) ;) (would it be too weird to meet a babysitter on a guestbook?) :)

Hello Cohen Family!
I was just visiting Jake's site and it's wonderful to see this little guy having so much fun and playing in the snow! Can you send some of that our way? We haven't had near enough snow for MN!!
Thanks to your family for all you have done to support us in our (Peter's) journey, and for all you do to raise awareness for the disease. It is a nasty one, but it's beatable and you are a shining example! Hope to meet you all someday soon! Ty & Erika Eigner (www.petereigner.com)

It was awesome to see you on Holloween. Both Ty and I loved your Costumes and getting to answer the door with Dave for all the trick-or-treaters! Jakie, you make the best Mr. Incredible I have ever seen in my life. Tell mom and dad that I need some of the pictures that they took. Just have them e-mail them to me. We will be back up soon. I don't think surgery is going to be a go again on Monday, things got messed up this time through University hospital. But we are working on it. Hopefully it is supposed to happen by Friday though. I'll make sure to let you know for sure, otherwise you have mom's number or I will send you Ty's number tomorrow. You will have to come say hi when I am in the hospital if you can. I will hopfully only be in for one night though. I love you guys with all my heart. Don't ever forget that!!!

Hi Jake and family! Hope all is well in Colorado! Things are good in Tahoe ~ just busy with hockey, hockey and more hockey! Bailey's little brother, Cameron, scored his first goal in their game on Saturday! Bailey is REALLY excited because he just found out that Joe Sakic is going to be at the celebrity golf tournament here next month! He plans on being there with his Sakic jersey on and is praying like crazy that he will be able to get it autographed!

Take care all!

Stopping by to say Hi. Looks like all is still going well with you all. Im sure you have read on my site about all of our passings. This makes the 3rd funeral in 2 months. We have to find a cure somehow. It is killing me as I am left here without my son. This new life of ours is crazy. Cant wait to see you all in a few months. Give everyone hugs for us.

Hi guys...sorry we missed the phone call Sunday...Happy belated Mother's Day to you too Mary! We went to Crawford and took all the kids fishing and Rhonda and Chris had us stay for supper and watch the finale of Survivor. We didn't get home until 10:30...thought too late to call. Happy belated Birthday Bekah and Happy Birthday Jakie!!! It looks like it will be just Beau and I because Justin is working and not sure if we will leave right after the wedding on Saturday or just wait and come up on Sunday morning...haven't decided yet. Their birthday bears are both almost finished...hopefully they like them. We are going to get our camper out of storage tonight and get it ready for camping memorial day weekend. I will try and call you guys by Friday to let you know my plans for sure. Only 2.5 days of school left...yeah! Hugs all around.

Dear Cohen Family,

I just completed reading your story of Jacob and found it extremely heartwarming. I am sitting in my son, Jeremy's hospital room, as he just received his bone marrow transplant today. Jeremy was also diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma on August 17, 2005,at four years old. He was in remission at time of transplant. We still have a long road ahead of us still, but reading your story gave me new inspiration. I know only God knows the plan for our son, but the power of prayer has amazing effects.

I was drawn to your website because my sister and brother inlaw live in Littleton,CO. They have a very dear friend that works at Denver Children's hospital.

Please say a prayer for Jeremy's BMT recovery and all that is ahead of him. Thank you for all your work to help find a cure for our children. It just takes ordinary Moms and Dads like us to make a difference and be our children's voice.

God Bless your family,

Looking pretty cute Muffin Man. Hope everything is going well. Sure Dave is loving the golf weather. Give the kids a big hug for us and yourselves too.

Hi guys! Hope everything is going well for all of you! Just popping in to tell ya hi and let you know that Clay and I are expecting on September 7th! We just found out this week! We are pretty excited about it! Kaitlyn is very excited! It will be a long 8 months for her, since she seems to like asking me everyday if the baby is here yet! ha!hA! Shaylee wants to name her baby sister, "Princess Frostine" and she refuses to think there might actually be a baby brother in there! Anyway--tell everyone hi for me! My sister and I are talking about taking a road trip to Denver one of these weekends! If we do, I'll have to bring her over to meet you and see your, "mansion!" :):):) Take Care! Love ya, Mic

Dear Jacky! I know your uncle Bruce. He talks about you all the time. He loves you so much. My hart is full of happiness as I see you beet this ferocious Disease. I lost my nephew to ACML on January 16 several years ago. His name was Travis Anderson. I miss him very much every day. I am at a loss for words, so instead of a big hug, I offer these words from King David, Keep them near your hart. I wish them on you, your family, and your friends in need and on the whole world. With Love Avi and the Ancel Family!

I raise up my eyes to the mountains, from whence will my help come? My help cometh from G-D maker of heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to falter; your guardian will not slumber. Behold he neither slumbers nor sleeps – the guardian of Israel. G-D is your guardian; G-D is your shade on your right hand. By day the sun will not harm you, nor the moon by night. G-D will protect you from every evil; He will guard your soul. G-d will guard your departure and your arrival, from this time and forever.
