Welcome to Tanner's (and Tori's!) home on the web!

Warm autumn greetings to everyone from Minnesota!

Happy fall everyone! We've been busy as we've geared up for the start of another school year, which means "the same old same old" for mom...I have 20 first graders that while academically solid, can be very challenging behavior-wise, at times. They are turning into a great bunch of kids though. I'm sure by the end of next year (I loop with this group the WHOLE two years, I can't believe that no pregnancy, bedrest, or surgery will get in the way this year!) they'll be a tough group to say goodbye to. Tim has started his school year out in a new district, with a new title. He is the Dean of Students at Annandale Middle School. He's getting a quick lesson in the art of discipline, suspensions, and other issues that are all in his lap. Although he's putting in waaaaay too many hours for my comfort level (his too!), we're hoping things settle down a bit as he settles in.
Tanner is in his second year of preschool. He seems to love it, and his confidence level has just bloomed enormously. His favorite centers are art, science, and the "manips" table. He shares the title of tallest kid in his class, at 3 feet 11 inches, but outweighs the other boy by TEN pounds!!! He's 58 pounds, very solid. He's very interested in telling time, and is proficient at telling time to the hour (as he demonstrated early one saturday morning by quizzing daddy!). He also continues to love reading stories, and likes to pick out words he "knows". He's a number man, too. Still fascinated with money, and learning it's value as he makes choices on what he can buy on his own at the store. The speech clinician was out today, and delivered some "good news/bad news": we worked too hard on his letter sounds this summer and he's actually made stronger gains than where he was last year, so doesn't qualify for any help. But, we'll continue to work on our own to master the missing sounds of "l" and "th" on our own. Tanner received his early birthday present from us; a fisher price 4 wheeler (yes, daddy is living vicariously through his almost 5 year old!). Tanner absolutely loves it though, and even shares with his sister, taking her for rides in the trailer. He's excited to have his birthday party at the holiday inn again this year. If you're free, we're having it on november 5th in alex!
Tori's biggest milestones have been the arrival (finally!) of her incisors and other teeth! This little girl had all of her 2 year molars by 16 months, but only 6 other front teeth. She's now got two incisors to add to the list. The other biggie is that she went "pee on the potty!" yesterday, September 27th. Tanner got her a book while she attempted this feat. She's been sitting for a long time, with no success (well, SHE thought she was a wild success every single time...)until yesterday. It's hard to believe she's growing up!!! She also was the recipient of her first hair cut on Saturday. As the pictures can attest, she was none too thrilled about it either...at least not right away. Tori is also a little motormouth...surprise surprise! She'll repeat just about anything anyone says. We worked really hard on "I love you"....but the first person she said that to was...auntie Dawn! ;) Her latest craze is talking on the phone; that is, unless she decides to hang up on whomever she's talking to! Today she pointed to the letters in her name and said "T-O-R-I....Tori!". SHe also continues to display a love of books, though I'm pretty sure she's developing a knack for speedreading! Her favorite part is "the end!", and slamming the book shut. Such a proud moment for her!
That's about all we've got for you for now. CHeck in the picture area and I should hopefully have new ones up. Hope all is going well with everyone. please email us or drop a note in the guestbook area if you have a chance.
Love to all,
Mary and Tim and Tanner and Tori!
