Time...such a simple word, such a complicated topic. Sometimes it flies by so quickly you truly don't know where it went. Yet it can also seem to stand still. I looked it up in a concordance and it's used 573 times in the Bible. It's used in so many different says. One thing I've learned by stopping by so many pages is just how precious time is.
This is a very special verse about time:
Psalms 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

Good to hear things are normal ... dragging boys in from playing outside, dog bites (ouch!!) and camping and hockey and...
We just finished up a great hockey season. You would not recognize Aidan on the ice! His abilities have caught up to his passion (finally!!) Easton did pretty good too...waited till his last game of the season, last period to score his first goal.
We're all cheering for Ottawa to win the Cup now that everyone's favorite teams are out. Know that we're watching right along with you guys!

I found your site through Kids Cancer Crusade. Sounds like you had a fun spring break! I can't remember the last time I went to Santa Cruz. I'll have to take my kids sometime.
My son, Isaac, and I spent 2 months at UCSF this past summer. Isaac had surgery for a brain tumor and due to complcations we stayed there for therapy and radiation. It was nice. We really liked all (well, most!) the doctors and nurses.
I'll be praying for you. I hope you continue to do well.

Congrats on raising so much money! And oh my seeing him bald had to have been quite a shock even though you knew it was coming.
According to a forward I received by email today, this verse is the exact middle of the Bible. It's a good verse and one which can take on a whole new meaning when dealing with drs. They don't know everything. The Lord knows ALL things, and any knowledge drs have come from Him. So always look to the source first!

I found your website via Lunch for Life. My son, Lucas, was also diagnosed at 9 months and we were told that he would have a 90% chance of an event free survival. Just short of 2 years post-treatment, he relapsed. Lucas is currently being treated at UCSF. I've been looking for children with a similar track and finally found you! We have always known that Cameron was as Special as Bailey. I am so pleased that your son is doing so well... it's a prayer come true... we will include him in ours... our little girl was diagnosed in 2003 at barely 3 yrs old... the day before her third birthday actually. What handsome boys you have! Glad to hear that they are both doing well. We'll be thinking of you next week when you are at UCSF for scans. We send our prayers and positive thoughts. Thomas has his next round of scans the first week in December.
I picked up a used set of hockey sticks at a garage sale this summer. I think of Bailey and Cameron when Thomas is hitting his puck on our driveway. (no ice rinks in Redding!) We are going to Tahoe for a few days after Christmas. Maybe we will be able to see some REAL hockey playing then. Let us know if there are any games going on Dec. 28-31. (I know it's not likely as that is the holiday break!)

You know being a mom myself I understand completely what you mean. Look at me I am the mom who's son was hit by another kid and I was at the point I told him to hit him back next time. (What was I thinking????) Thank goodness Jared is smarter than good old mom and did not. Anyways, we are all protective of our little ones (no matter how big they are). I am so so glad to hear that the scans were good and that you are even now moving to every 6 month scans. That is great. Going to every 6 months scared me too at first and so we actually asked the doc to do every 4 months for a year then every 6 and he did agree and did it. But now we too are on every 6 and I must say the decreased frequency of scan anxiety will be great. I too know if I truly had a concern our doc would be right on top of it ASAP. Hip hop, hippety hop
My “Easter Bunny” went off to the shop,
He bought me an egg and lots of chocs
And packed them into a cardboard box.
Then he wrapped it with paper and shiny string
It really was such a pretty thing.
Disaster struck when I opened the door-
He slid across the parquet floor,
He went round the corner and past the stairs
And finished up in a pile of chairs.
Of the Easter goodies not a trace,
he’d thrown them into my fireplace!
So a warning before you go opening doors
Make sure your “Bunny” has non-slip paws!

I just read on your page, that you are taking Accutane for 2 long years. UUUUHHHH How are you handling this?
Ronnie just finished his 8th round and the Dr's want to keep him on it. No idea for how long. I am little bit scared about it, but on the other side it gives me good feeling, that we are still fighting the beast and doing something against it.
He has only minor side effects from this. But it is good to know you went through the same. As soon as have more time I'll read your former entries to get some inspiration. Thank you.

Thanks for the info you left on Haley's website. It was definitely informative. I haven't changed Haley's site because I don't know what to say, but I'm definitely feeling very down. The doctor says that historically chemo isn't very successful against Haley's type of tumor and from those websites I visited I can see that that's true. He also says she's too young for radiation. Kelly- I didn't realize that Bailey's diagnosis was almost exactly the same time of year as Emma's diagnosis. We received her diagnosis December 30 of last year. Crazy, huh?!? hi there...I can deffinitely commiserate with you on the lab issues. We do labs every monday morning, followed by chemo (at UCSF, by the way--small world). The mornings at the lab are mnuch worse than the hours we spend at chemo on Tuesday. I just leave the lab ready stroke out. We are finally setting up a home health nurse to come out and do the draws...that way we should be able to use Hadley's port too. I hate the lab. I am so sorry to hear that it's not just my wonderful luck. =/ Hang in there. You let us know if you ever need anything while you're at UC...we live in Alameda and we are always here for other little fighters!!! Our contact info is on Hadley's page...

Hi Kelly,
Great to hear about Bailey's lab results, but sorry to hear about your ordeal. Bailey's school picture came out great! Thanks for the message on Haley's site. Everything went well yesterday... we don't have the MRI results yet. The EEG showed no clinical seizures but did show a "sharp wave" (whatever that is) in the right temporal lobe area so it was considered to be a little abnormal. Well, she had most of her right temporal lobe removed in July so it seems that it would be a little abnormal in that area! (of course I'm not a doctor). We should have MRI results on Monday.

While vacationing in Tahoe recently, I ended up having my toes done by Kathie (whom I find out is a friend of Gma Christie's), in the Round Hill mall. Well, I bought one of the bears there for sale to support Bailey (small world again, isn't it?!?) & told Kathie how we used to live next door to your family, Kelly. We also visited the Tahoe Douglas Rotary club (as I needed a make-up), but figured that Gpa Tim is probably a member of one of the valley clubs now.

Glad to hear that Bailey is doing well & has started school. What fun!!

As we walked you into the hospital that day, our hearts were very heavy, for we thought we knew what you were about to have to endure. Little did we know it would be so much more! I found your guestbook entry on Miranda Rae's caringbridge site. I have heard of your struggles through Kristy (Plimpton) Kjer and my parents (The Wattys). Your family is beautiful. I hope Bailey continues to do well.

My fiance's daughter, Emma, 9 years old, was diagnosed with a rare genetic brain disorder, MLD, on 12/30/03, and underwent an umbilical cord stem cell transplant at Duke in February. She has been back in CA since June & has already visited UCSF for about 4 stays, most recently to have her gall bladder removed.

So in addition to us being childhood next door neighbors, it also looks like your husband's family is not too far from us now...as we live off Morello Ave. in Martinez!

Crazy, huh?!? ;)

(I was just telling my fiance the story of how I know you & told him that your mom came over to our house the morning that my mom went into labor with Matt, who is now 20! Boy that makes me feel old!!)

I came to your website through Haley's who I found through Cheyenne. Wow, is all I have to say, you are doing a great job at fighting back at this nasty cancer. Now you will have yet another prayer warrior praying hard for you and your family! I take it you are a big hockey fan, do you play too? My son who is 11 plays ice hockey, has for the last two years. Our peewee team took 2nd in the state tournament this year so we are pretty proud. Now that our rink is closed till October, Kurt has turned to street hockey like you, Bailey! We still have lots of snow on the ground and on the drive way where we couldn't plow it away anymore, but Kurt found plenty of driveway to play in despite the snow. Spring is coming slowly here in Northeast Wisconsin. I will be checking in on you daily and keeping you in my prayers!
