Tuesday, October 5, 2010 1:12 PM CDT Last time I wrote, the boys were at the end of their school year and now, here I am, with over a month of the new school year already behind us! Where does the time go?
So, let me recap about our summer and Devon's recent baseball injury in which teeth were knocked out or loosened (and they were permanent teeth!).
We were in Italy for 2 weeks and then went to Paris for 4 days! We had a fantastic vacation. My parents and my brother and his family were also at the family house. Most of the days were spent swimming in the lake, eating our meals out on the terrace and getting gelato every night. We did take a day trip to Verona and Sirmoine. The weather was so hot that our daily multi swims in the lake were so refreshing.
In Paris, the boys were such troopers walking all over the city to visit the sights and museums. Our hotel was near the Eiffel Tower and the boys loved watching the big screen TV at Trocodero and watching the World Cup. We visited the Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, Notre Dame, the Tuilieres garden, Rodin Museum and a lot more. It was so nice for Steve and I to be back and we felt so comfortable taking the metro and walking around the city.
We also spent a few days up in Vermont in the Lake Champlain area with Steve's family. The boys enjoyed swimming, biking and playing wiffle ball with their cousins.
Devon is doing well although we had a trip to the emergency room in the beginning of September when a baseball took a bad hop and hit him in the mouth. He lost 1 tooth and the other 3 were hanging by threads. I picked up the knocked out tooth (I had to go back and get it because I didn't even know he lost a tooth until we were on our way to the hosptial!)and put it in milk and drove to CCMC. They put the tooth and in and fixed up his other teeth and by 1 am we were back home. Did I mention that Steve was on business? The next day, we were back at the dentist and he made some adjustements to move the teeth back in place.
Devon was amazing through this whole ordeal and I overheard him talking to one of his friends saying, "I'm fine. It's no big deal." He has been fitted for a lower mouthguard and will need to refrain from sports until his mouthguard comes in. He is doing very well and we are just keeping our fingers crossed that the teeth fuse to the bone. We'll just have to wait and see.
Thanks for checking in!
