Thursday, December 20, 2007 12:22 AM CST Hannah went to Denver in September for her yearly check up. She had a CAT scan and blood work. Everything looks good. Her right kidney is much smaller than the left. The left kidney has had to compensate for the right not working as well. She has been on an ACE inhibitor since her transplant to keep her blood pressure down and keep the kidneys flowing. Her creatine has been stable at 0.9 for the past year so will will continue to keep an eye on things. Mike and I went to St. Louis this summer to a Selective Mutism conference. Hannah stoped speaking to adults when her treatment started. (she has always taked to Mike and I, grandparents, and a couple others) Hannah cannot speak to other adults. She can speak to kids up to about 12 years old. I was glad to hear at the confrence that SM can be caused by trauma. Mike and I have said this all along, dispite being told otherwise. Hannah is in 4th ghrade this year. She has good teachers and a very involved principal. SM takes years to overcome. Hannah has made great progress, we are VERY proud of her! It would be interesting to know of any other kids who also have Selective Mutism. Thank you for checking in, drop us a line. Take care, Mishelle & Mike Shipley
