No gift quite matches the gift of perspective...
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance" (James 1:2-3)

HERE IS HIS STORY...

Welcome to Matthew Myers' website. Matthew was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on April 26, 2000, just prior to his 2nd birthday. The sub-type was pre-B cell and he had a trisomy 4:10 genetic mutation. Treatment protocol: POG 9201

Matthew went into remission after his first month of treatment in May 2000. After two and a half long years of chemotherapy, Matthew had his final bone marrow aspiration and spinal tap on October 16, 2002 which showed his marrow to be cancer-free.

This page was created to update our friends and family on Matthew's progress. Thank you for visiting and God bless!

A HUGE thank you to our Prayer Warriors for getting on their knees before God for our precious little boy. We BELIEVE in the power of prayer and in an almighty God!!

GOOD LUCK TEAM IN TRAINING TEAM MEMBERS!!

WOW!!! It's been a while since I've journal. Just in case any one of our old friends stops by, I just wanted to give an update. Matthew is doing GREAT! He is a happy, healthy 3rd grader. I have to brag just a little bit...remember the part where they say that the intrathecal chemo may lower their IQ's....Matthew is amazingly smart!! He makes all A's and is at the top of his class in reading, spelling, AND MATH!!! Can you believe it? God gets ALL the glory for that.

Matthew only deals with a few mild issues that may be related to his treatment. Difficulty focusing, short stature, and signs of depression. We are committed to working on all of these. I'm just so thankful for every thing...good and bad, happy or sad. God has brought us so far and given us so much to be thankful for.

Colin (Matthew's brother) is doing great. He's in 5th grade and is really into sports and is beginning to notice girls (ugh!). Van is traveling and working hard as usual.

Thanks for checking in. If you would like to contact us, please email me at jenvan@alltel.net.

God bless and take care! Until next year....

The Myers Family
