Thats my boy Jordan. I told you when we started this journey that you were my hero for everything you have gone thorough, the fight you put up when you were in pain, the smiles you gave me from your hospital bed when I'm sure you were not wanting to smile, so now its time again to keep the fight going and continue on a new journey that will be your future. I'm not sure what you want to do, but I hope you make a wise decision. I have great faith in you Jordo and I know when you put your mind to it, you can do it, so good luck and always remember I am here for you. Love ya, Gram

well done Jordan...you're a credit and inspiration for all families affected by DSRCT. My brother Denis (27) says hi from his hospital bed in MSKCC after surgery with Dr LaQuaglia last week...your website has given him the boast he needs after a long, tough week in the battle field
keep it up!

Well Jordan, Karen, Bob, and the whole Marquis clan,
I really want to thank you for letting us go through this journey with you and keeping us informed on Jordan condition. I remember when Charlotte and Jordan[walker] came home with the news that jordan[marquis] was sick, the tears could not stop and everyday somthing would change, things would be bad and then they would be good. Friendships, great Friendships can endure anything. We don't get to see you guys often(and to thing we live all of 5 mins apart),but I am truly greatful to God for you and you wonderful family, and the friendship that our Children have made. I remember when I first met Jordan at Charlotte's 5th or 6th birthday always on time jordan was. Jordan was also there when She had her big Sweet 16, and one of her greatest gifts was just knowing that jordan was going to attend, and now we're to the High School Gradation, where did the time go? We have truly been blessed as parents, and this is not to say that our kids are perfect but there our kids and we love them. May God continue to bless us the parents and all our blessings[children] He has bestowed on us. Hope to see you on June 19th:)

Hi Karen....thank you for your thoughts and prayers!!! Jason is doing really good. He is feeling good, we are waiting for the counts to go low enough for transplant. Kaitlin (his sister) did great doing the apheresis. She said that it was not as bad as what she thought it would be. It took 6 hours to gather all the stem cells that Jason would need. She does know that they could call her back if more was needed. Jason is supposed to go back down the 28th so we will see if it will be chemo or transplant. How is Jordan doing?
You and your family have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year!!!

Jordan,
Don't give in to taking the easy road! My Zach had to go back to school after being out for two years. It would have been his senior year in college. He left his two hardest classes for last. It was a great struggle for him as well. But he worked hard and graduated! Now he is working on his Masters at Univ. of Ar, in Little Rock. You can do it! It is worth the hard work.

Karen,
Sorry I haven't signed in a bit but I was glad to see things are going well. We all need the positives when it comes to the DSRCT. We need more of the good news. Tell Jordan to stay tough. It won't be long and he will be heading out into the great big world. I keep telling my Em now that she won't be able to leave, I am holding on a bit too tightly sometimes. She is only going into 8th grade so I have time before she moves to that part of her life.
Hope the entire family enjoys the summer and the time together that we all treasure. Make some good summer memories.
God bless

Hi Karen,
I'm home "sick" today and I've been reading up on everyone's page....glad to hear Jordan is well but not so glad to hear about you. Sorry that you had to have surgery but really happy that you got the pre-cancer junk out! I had a hysterectomy in '05 and I can tell you that I still don't feel right! LOL!! If you haven't gone through the "change" make sure you take some hormones or you'll be in and out of hot flashes like you can't believe!! :-) Premarin works pretty good....I've been taking them for about 3 yrs now. Isn't this funny.....just sharing all of our medical history/problems over the internet...I love it!! Free therapy as I see it!

Well, no news is good news. We are still waiting for the results for Raymond's PET scan...we should know this afternoon. Take care!

Hello, I'm 23 year old boy living in Korea

I have been very healthy and doing body building.

On November, 2006, I felt an abdominal discomfort with a palpable mass in my stomach. So I went to hospital and took a CT.

The CT finding revealed 14 * 15 cm bulky mass in a pelvic cavity. So the laparoscopic biopsy was done and the "Desmoplastic small round cell tumor" was diagnosed.

Hi Karen & Family,

I just wanted to say that I love NOT seeing updates from you....knowing that that means everything is under control. It's nice to be reminded that there are families who have gone through this ordeal and are back to a normal life. I'm glad Bob is doing well with his recovery and that you are enjoying your new job. I will add your sister-in-law to our prayers and I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving. We should all be so thankful for the time we have together on this earth and it becomes so much more important when we are faced with the knowledge that it could all change tomorrow. That might be the most life changing thing that I have learned through this whole thing. Well take care and say Hi to Jordan for us.

Just wanted to let you know that Jordan and your family are rarely far from my thoughts. I also check your site and completely understand about updates! I think it is wonderful that you can now turn your attention back to just getting on with living. That is what this is all about . . getting back to life and away from this rotten disease. You take care, and have an absolutely well deserved and wonderful Thanksgiving.

Hugs to you,
Mom to Nathan, dx 3/05, DSRCT stage IV

Dear Marquis Clan:
Congratulations to Jordan on continued good news and to his father on his outstanding performance during a recent salmon fishing trip. Went to see Grandma Dot in the hospital. Didn't know exactly which room was hers until I heard her barking out orders to the staff. Upon arrival the friend who had been visiting bolted from the room like her parole just came through. Spent the next two hours listening to Dot describe her ailment in vivid detail while she showed us the parts of her body that were affected. Thank goodness she didn't have hemorrhoids. All in all, a visit I'll not soon forget. Everyone please stay healthy!

I would be so thrilled and honored to met you and Jordan. Most likely Patrick will still be in the hospital, however if not we are staying at 53rd and 7th. My cell # is 816-517-4924. Call me and I'll come down. Oh yeah, Patrick is in Rm 932A. I haven't been staying overnight the past week,(he will be 22 Sept. 8th)Patrick gets sick of me once he starts getting better. He likes to sleep till 4:00 pm watch weird shows and do what he wants, so call me so we can make plans.

So great to hear from you!

Hey Jordan
I'm so happy to read the continued good news on your recovery and overall health. Sounds like you're pushing all the right buttons with your folks. It's tough for your mom cause she was so angelic as a teen...your dad on the other hand - I hear he was a hell raiser. You deserve to have a good time and to enjoy feeling good! I myself prefer to ask forgiveness than ask permission...not always the best tactic, but it's worked so far!
I hope you continue to have a happy and healthy summer!
Love to your whole family,

Hang in there Marquis family, I'm sure it's just a phase. You didn't think you'd breeze through teenagehood with a kid who's battled two different cancers without a few bumps along the way did ya???? He's a GREAT kid and it's not surprising that he's going to act out a little here and there especially after never complaining the whole time he went through treatment. Remind him how much you love him everyday (even during those few times when he is turning your hair gray) Now go enjoy your summer. You deserve it after being in lockdown last summer. Actually your whole family deserves a gold medal after what you've been through over the last 4 years.

Love,
Barb

Hi Karen & Marquis Family,
Just read about Jordan's scans from last week. I will deffinately pray for positive results. Sounds like you had a busy busy time last week with appts and travel. And, no cancer never plays fair. What a different world we live in once the big "c" word surfaces. But we are here and the moment is good. Our children are running around and being kids.....I'm so greatful for those moments. Speaking of which, at this moment my son, Raymond is refusing to go to school because he feels "sick". Hey Jordan...
Sounds like things are going really well for you! I'm so happy to hear all the good news..I know getting that stinkin' port out is a really big deal and I'm hoping it will happen just as your mom has outlined. So - you might be spending hours on end wondering how I AM...well - Joey and I are in Miami, enjoying the RAIN...ya - you heard me right...we left West Hartford after spending last weekend pumping water out of our yard and basement and came here to be rained on while relaxing on the beach...just my luck!!! I'm still hopeful we'll see some rays before heading home tomorrow night. I'd like to rent a boat and cruise the inter coastal, but Joey's wanted in these waters...YA...he got a ticket the last time we were in FL ...those no wake zones can really sneak up on ya..or better yet - sneak up on Joey!

So pray for sunshine and i'll pray for YOU!
Love ya bunches...Lynn

Karen,
You are one busy family. I read often and get tired just trying to keep up. As a mom of a DSRCT patient I am sure you get exhausted just with the day to day worries. I know lately I seem to be looking at everything like under a microscope and each time Nikki doesn't feel 100% I worry. I don't think that will ever change. Take care of those kids/husband, seems like you always do. I continue to pray for all of you and congrats to Jordon on all he has managed thru. (Hey if you haven't already, you know there is a great organization for brothers and sister of cancer kids called Super sibs. They send great little gifts for those kids periodically)

Hi,
I was introduced to Jordan and his family thru his grandmother. On May 31st 2006 my son, Patrick was diagnoised with DSRCT. As you know there is NO information out there regarding this type of cancer. I was, and still am terrified! The message letting me know that I had friends out there made me feel a little better. Patrick was 20 at the time of diagnosis, he turned 21 on Sept. 8 2006. I would LOVE to communicate with you if you have any extra time. HA HA. I am up all night long, usually studying anything I can find, so contact me anytime. I pray daily for Jordan and the rest of your family. I hope this e-mail finds Jordan in as good as health as possible. Please tell Jordan's grandmother thank-you for contacting me! *** P.S. I have already contacted Beth, and we are currently raising the funds, while caring for the many complications of chemo, for the trip to New York. Please e-mail me at beasleypg3@hotmail.com if you can visit. Gina

Well ...JOHN...let me be the second to tell you that was a really funny posting...I mean really funny...You've got a gift...Well done my friend...
NOW...enough of that or John will feel important!
Jordan - back to you...Hope you're getting around ok...You're in my thoughts!

Greetings to All:
Went to confession last night and among my transgressions was wishing something rotten for some children. The priest became furious when I mentioned that it was some of the Marquis kids. "Haven't they had enough?" he asked. I explained that I've been fighting with two of them. Every year I ask that my firewood be stacked like a puzzle with each piece neatly fitted together. They, however, always stack it like it's the beginning of a game of pick-up sticks. You know, each piece precariously perched on top of the next. Well, Friday morning as I retrieved some wood I reached up and a huge log fell from the pile cracking the top of my skull, gently spinning in mid-air and falling like a pile-driver on the big toe of my right foot (also damaging the left ear of my bunny slipper). Of course this caused me to react by instantly and violently raising the afflicted foot thereby throwing the wood back into the air where is scraped down the length of my left shin before gently slamming into my left foot where it came to rest. I told the priest how images of the two eldest Marquis boys came instantly to mind. I didn't wish them a broken leg or anything. Heck, they've already got one of the those in the house but in a moment of weakness I did ask God for a severe sprain or at the very least a strain of some kind. In any event, the priest told me how the Bible teaches something about suffering the little children and, although God didn't exactly have wood stacking in mind, that I should forgive and as my penance write this, my apology. So...Sorry. Hope all is well....sort of.
P.S. I think one of the boys left a sweater here. I have no idea how it got ripped so badly.

Hi Karen & Jordan,
I saw the note you left on Maggie's site and read about the broken leg...that stinks. I hope you won't be in the cast too long. Out here in Arizona our only concern when it comes to casts is at least it's not summer and 110 degrees. Holy cow Karen, two men with bum legs at the same time, you definately are going to deserve a trip to a day spa. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Maggie. You're so cute, with all that you have going on, you still find time to check in on all of the other kids. Well, I hope you all continue to hang in there. You are in our prayers here in Tucson.

A broken leg, huh . . and a husband with knee surgery . . man, and I thought we needed the circus music! Maybe you should make up a recording for all us folks dealing not only with cancer but all these other . . trivial medical issues. Looks like your husbands knee surgery has my husbands infected cyst beat though. And, poor Jordan . . still it probably seems minor to him with all he's been through . . broken leg, ehhh!! Can handle that. He'll be up and on that bike just in time for spring . . and mud season.

You stay well!!

Hi Karen & Jordan,
Goodness! I'm just trying to figure out how you're still sane Karen! Talk about a full plate. Just imagine, when all of this is behind you....you won't know what to do with yourself. I'm sure you'd like to find out though....perhaps a weekend retreat as was suggested by some other friends! You all are still in our thoughts and prayers, take care and my hat is off to you!

I agree with Sue. I think Karen needs a ladies week-end, so anytime your ready let us know, and you can pick where you want to go. Of course, this is Karen we are talking about, we all know she won't leave her Bob when he is hurting and still on crutches. It was a nice thought though. Love ya all.

A broken leg and knee surgery...it sounds to me like Jordan and Bob are just trying to compete with each other. And all of us are just encouraging them by posting all of our sympathetic comments. So I say that we ignore them and concentrate on Karen. We don't see HER going out and engaging in dangerous, consequence-ridden behavior, do we? We love you, Karen!!!! You take care of yourself, Karen!!!! Now in case any of you are getting annoyed with me, I am just kidding--mostly, anyway. You know I love Jordan and Bob, too.

Are you flippin' kidding me??? Jordan Marquis - I'm going to hang you by your ...hmmm thinking about the audience and knowing I should keep this clean....by your thumbs!!! A broken leg on top of everything...I sure as heck hope you were having an incredibly good time before you got hurt...and I really hope it didn't hurt too much and that you will be up and about and dare I say back on your bike in no time!!! I was going to say your mom is going to go prematurely grey, but I don't think that's good enough...she's going to go absolutely BALD...and while she has a beautiful face, I like it best when her hair is in her eyes!!! So can you please take it easy on her? Chill for a bit?!?!?
Now for you...Bob...how's your knee? Are the crutches aching your arm pits yet? Hope you're up and feeling better asap!
Karen...If you need a drinking buddy you know who to call...I make a mean dirty Grey Goose Martini...just call!!!
love you all,
Lynn

Jordan did WHAT??! Oh Lord, just lock the boy in a safe place until all the excitement calms down, will ya? Better not let Dr LaQ hear what happened. You know his feelings on the subject of dirt bikes already. Seriously, hope you heal quickly Jordan. I know your mom can't handle any more excitment. Put the circus tents away.

For crying out loud, could you PLEASE quell that excitement?? We can't stand it out here in cyberspace. Dr. Cucka is the best, Jordan. He has seen me (and Justin) on numerous occasions and we always got better! I am truly sorry you're curtailed at the moment though, and not in too much pain!

Jordo, Jordo, Jordo. We are going to put in you a glass cage so nothing else happens to you. I can't believe it, and now your mother tells me they put a new cast on, so I will have to come over and sign this one. I'll write something nice this time, since you didn't like what I put on yesterday. So Happy Valentines Day to all of you. Tell your father, good luck on Friday. Now I suppose I have to bring him a banana split!!!!!

Nice update Johnnie. I still think you missed your calling.

Hey Karen and Jordan. Stop obsessing about the weight, will ya? Matt has grown 3 inches since last fall and still weighs less than 110. He's 5'7'', already. Talk about thin! If he stands sideways, you can't see him.....
Hope all remain well, otherwise. Hugs from the frozen midwest.

Hi Karen - You might want to try the Avon skin so soft for Jordon's dry skin. Its a mineral oil based product. It might help. Good luck.

Greetings to All:
The firewood arrived and I was delighted to learn that the Marquis Brothers Wood Stacking Company was now available. Jordan assured me that the crew would be here Saturday at 9:00 a.m. sharp but at 10:30 a.m. Karen, the business secretary, called to say the boys were just now contemplating getting out of bed. Once in Burlington Jordan warned me that he would have to take care of a little procedure but assured me everything would be fine. Anyway, since it was around noon they insisted on lunch. I'm not saying they're spoiled but when I brought them burgers, chicken fingers and fries they both sniffed them and said "whenever Grandma goes to that restaurant she brings us lobster bisque!" (I know that that's not true because after an incident in Maine, Grandma is not allowed to say the word "lobster" in a restauant. Of course, we're never supposed to speak of that). Anyway, the afternoon passed, the wood was stacked and I worried about Jordan. It was then that I learned he wasn't scheduled for a procedure but I was. Now that the work was done, he and Matt gleefully performed what they called a wallet-ectomy. That's when you hold your wallet open and they essentially grab whatever they want. Those two guys have spent way too much time around hospitals and doctors. I'm glad they're feeling better but after dealing with them I'm not feeling so good, in fact I'm feeling much poorer. Also sorry to hear about Jordan's latest dirt bike crash. Remember, Jordan, the next time you ride go back to basics....no not the things you learned from Gary Bailey. Talk to Emily, I think she's got some training wheels she's not using.

Hi Jordan & Family,

I'm sorry that it has taken me so long to write. My name is Susan McGinley. I am the mother of Maggie Stahl (DSRCT in Tucson, AZ). Your story is very inspirational to those of us who have just begun this journey. It absolutely gives us waves of hope to know that others have traveled this path and are coming out of the mountains on the other side. We knew this was going to be a tough hike, but your spirit and drive only adds to Maggies determination to reach the other side as well. We are beyond thrilled to hear that you are doing so well and that you are starting to resume some of your old activities. You and your family are in our prayers. Take care.

Susan

I'm so thrilled that you all got to go to Disney as a family. You all so deserve that time together. What a wonderful vacation for you.

And, now, back to the ole grind. Tell Matt to hang in there too, he's a very special kid to do this for his brother.

I got a chuckle out of the thoughts of Jordans doctor giving him the okay to go out and ride his dirtbike . . ha! Like, yikes. But, I suppose if he loves it . . ya gotta let him do it.

Take care,

Glad you had such a good time in FL. I want to see pictures, espically of Emily in the teacups. At long last we don't have to hear her cry because she didn't get to ride in the teacups the last time she was there, what was she at the time, 3yo. Just kidding. Thanks for the update, and Matt, thanks for all your donations to Jordo. Jordo, keep up the good work, keep fighting and be nice to Mattie. I love you guys. Talk to you all later.

Happy New Year to Karen and family. May the roller coaster of life begin to slow down. Your holidays sounded wonderful - all of them including Jordan's birthday. Karen, just wait for the 'normal' worries of parenting. Beginning with Jordan's driving. Grey is a good color for you. Forget the dye. (Not that you need to dye. I know that your hair is natural. It is only us old folkes that must keep up appearences.) Love always.
