Welcome to Lauren's page. Lauren was diagnosed with a medullo blastoma brain tumor in June of 2002. She had multiple post-op difficulties - right heart failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and posterior fossa syndrome causing an inability to swallow, walk, etc. She spent 6 weeks in ICU. Then she had 2 rounds of chemo, 6 weeks of cranial-spinal radiation, and then 6 more cycles of chemotherapy ending in November of 2003. Lauren's dealing with side effects of treatment - vision, hearing, and balance. HOWEVER, LAUREN IS IN REMISSION AND CONTINUALLY IMPROVING!

Thursday, November 8, 2007 8:00 AM CST THE MRI WAS CLEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry it took me so long to update. Each time Lauren and I went to the family center at the hospital to update there were always people there on the computers and gave no sign they were about to finish so we just kept waiting and waiting...
The MRI and the eyelid surgery went very well. Lauren's eyelids are puffy and sore but she's done so well with the ice-packing and not touching them. The stitches will dissolve in about 6 to 8 weeks. It's still a little early to tell if her eyes completely close while she sleeps because of the puffiness. Yesterday Lauren had a lung function test but that didn't go well because she couldn't get her mouth open big enough to put in the mouthpiece! Her meetings with all the doctors and specialists yesterday afternoon went well. Lots of people, lots of talk. They all thought Lauren was doing extremely well! I'll update again soon with some of the interesting findings. Thanks for checking in on Lauren.
