Sabrina Leigh Bolton
Graced our world Sept. 16, 1983
Earned Her Angel Wings March 17, 2003

Welcome to Sabrina's Web Page. Sabrina was diagnosed with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma of the pelvic region on Aug 22, 1998. Treatment consisted of surgery, radiation and chemo. On June 24th 1999 she finished treatment. After 15 wonderful months of remission, on Sept. 25, 2000 during a routine exam we found out that "it" was back. This time in her right kidney. The kidney and tumor were removed and she did more chemo, more radiation and some alterternative therapies. After completeing standard therapy on March 7th, 2001 she began an experimental vaccine at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD that was developed for this type of cancer. We finished the vaccine protocol on August 11th, 2001. Once again on Nov. 9, 2001 a routine scan showed this monster rearing it's ugly head again. It originated in a rib on the right side and attached itself to the lining of her right lung. Once again Sabrina endured chemotherapy and radiation. And once again she achieved a very quick remission. She only did 4 rounds of chemo because of bone marrow problems and then had 6 weeks of radiation during which time she and I stayed in Maryland.

Sabrina finished radiation therapy on June 11, 2002 and her July scans showed everything to still be clear. Then on October 10th 2002 our world was shattered by the news that there was another small tumor in the same general area as the last one and that now the cancer cells had also moved to the bone marrow. Sabrina's body wouldn't take harsh chemo's any longer so she was put on a milder weekly chemo, celebrex and a host of supplements.
We had to stop this regimen in January and being the trooper that she was she even tried another kind of chemo. That wasn't meant to be either though because after only 2 doses her body rebelled and she became very sick. We thought that would pass and that maybe she could take it again only in smaller doses but that never got to happen as she was tired and her body so fragile so it was time to do everything we could to make her comfortable and let her know hourly how much she was loved

Sabrina earned her angel wings on March 17, 2003. If anyone ever deserved those wings it was our precious, sweet daughter Sabrina. She tried so hard to stay with us even till her last breath. But in those last hours she knew it wasn't going to happen and even told us so.

Sabrina, you are and forever will be our hero, our inspiration and our angel. You touched so many lives in your short 19 years on this earth....more than you will ever know. You took a huge part of us with you when you left but that's ok because we'll be with you soon baby and we'll all be whole again.
We love you baby now and forever.
