Brandon's Update Welcome to Brandon's Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about our Child. Brandon was original diagnosed April 1997 with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. He quickly got into remission, and we thought our nightmare was behind us. Unfortunately, in July 1998, our worse fears came true - he relapsed. We knew that our best hope was a transplant, but it was so risky.
Brandon spent his 6th birthday at Johns Hopkins Hospital, just one day post Bone Marrow Transplant. Then, came Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's and Easter. All those holidays were spent in Baltimore trying to recover from his transplant. Following Brandon's transplant, he developed life threatening Graft Versus Host Disease. The next year would be spent chasing a cure for that. We ultimately wound up using chemo. Something we thought we were finished with.
Now it is 5 years post-transplant. Brandon's immune system has recovered fairly well, but he still has little hair, he suffers from seizures, but he has a heart and spirit of gold!
The one thing he REALLY misses is friends. If you would like to send him a card or letter, he would really love to hear from you!

Thursday, March 18, 2004 11:46 AM CST Many of you know the struggles Brandon has had. Well, Monday Brandon attend his first ever baseball practice! Yeah! Okay, so he is 11 and all the other kids have been playing for years, but he is trying! He had an awesome time and the coaches were quite simply THE BEST!
Wednesday we were treated to a tour of the FBI Academy. It was awesome and the people that work there were the best! Brandon even got to go for a skid ride! How cool is that!
Saturday, Brandon will get to attend his second practice. Hope we can get some practice in before then - it has been bad weather ever since Monday!
